If you love churches or gardens you should visit this. It’s not crowded with tourists but the church is simply beautiful with some fabulous ancient stone carving. The gardens adjoining are partly free and then there is a part you need to pay to go into . There is also an audio guide to the church available in the shop which is in the free part of the gardens. There are also toilet facilities in the gardens

The abbey church offers peace, tranquility and perspective free of charge. A visit is a must. They always welcome enquiries from anyone considering becoming a priest.

You have to pay to enter the abbey itself but the parish church is free. Completely plain limestone interior is not unpleasant but I couldn’t discover whether it had always been like this or earlier decoration had been destroyed in French Revolution. Gardens are very well tended and there are clean toilets.

Gardens attached to the rather plain abbey are a delight. Terraces with either fruit and vegetables, or flowers, or grass with shady trees. Climb to the top for a grand view of the Seine and surroundings, whilst standing at the stone parapet or sitting under the shady square planted with hornbeams. Also roses, cloisters, exhibition space and maze!

Nice visit to an Abbey with a long and interesting history. Audio guides are free with admission fee, worth a visit if you are staying close by as we were.
