Most visitors to Revel go to the Museum because its collection of furniture, marketry and cabinet makers' tools is truly exceptional.

We visited on market day and on patrimony weekend so entrance was free. Lovely little museum with some really fascinating examples of modern marquetry and students from the local college presenting examples of different techniques with wood. Great shop too!

Much better than anticipated, this is a faultless attraction with in-depth exploration of the arts and crafts of woodwork and marquetry, French furniture, types of wood, history of wood turning and marquetry and currently an Art Deco furniture exhibition. Some revamping has just been undertaken to really good effect. It is comfortable, inviting and you may stay and watch a DVD on a loop showing the laborious craftsmanship that goes into marquetry. Truly amazing and a beautiful result.

I love Revel and this museum devoted to the arts and craftsmanship of working in wood is an inspiration

Musee du bois et de la Marqueterie is a little museum about wood located in Revel, a little town in the South of France. Here you can learn a lot about the history of the wood manufacture in the region and you can see some examples of objects done by wood. It is interesting. Also, children can play in some parts of the exposition. Small, but interesting.
