Address
Neighbourhood: Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

had visited the wonderful menji jingu temple and discovered this park.
filled with people having picnics, and dancing, families and dogs, something for everyone.
wonderful spot, wide lawns and ponds and forested areas.
didn't feel crowded at all.
it is adjacent to harajuka station and menji shrine.
it housed the american soldiers during the allied occupation in 1945.
and the 1964 tokyo olympics were held here.
its open 24 hours a day.
we found it an incredible spot for people to unwind and relax from the wonderful but very busy and crowded city.
we were here in oct. 2019 but due to coivd its taken me this long to write about it.
an amazing city.

While Tokyo is first and foremost known for its well organized urban life, can it still boast of beautiful green spaces in the inner city. Yoyogi Park is one such example that offers a lush slice of piece and quiet, when the city life seems to have gotten the better of you. People playing chess, walking their dogs or hugging trees can be observed and admired here! Great adittion to the surrounding and one of the reasons Shibuya is such a liveable area in total!

It took us about 3 hours to see the whole park! And it was so worth it. Yoyogi park is behind Meiji Jingu Shrine and one train station away from Harajuku, so it was very easy to make it part of our itinerary. It was the perfect place for a picnic and lots of pictures.

Again, found by accident as we went 'walk-about' following our noses and avoiding, or should that be evading, the crowds.
A huge Park, lots of families playing games, having picnics in the sunshine, taking a stroll or walking the dog.
Fresh air everywhere.
If you want nor need a break - Commended.

Beautiful park with very nice areas - it is almost surreal to walk around in a large park in busy Tokyo and all you can hear are birds singing. Theres also a shrine and tempel area of the park, worth a visit.
We walked through the park on our way from the Shinjuku area to Shibya. A nice walk I can highly reccomend.

Amazing place, specially during the weekends, when there are so many people who are performing various arts there. Though the entrance areas are normally crowded, the inner parts are cool and relaxing. One of the best points to enter is from the Omotesando Exit of Harajuku Station. It has several water fountains and garden-scapes
If you stop at Yoyogi station, then its a long walk ( 1.2 KM roughly ) but the entrances are less packed and there is more greenery on that side.

There was a little festival happening on the day we walked through. It seems this may be a typical occurrence. We enjoyed our walk through. It's a nice park and well-kept.

It was rainy the day we planned to go to Yoyogi Park. We went anyway, since the hotel loaned us umbrellas. My husband wanted to dance in front of the old barracks building that was used to house athletes during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. If it had been a nicer day I am sure it would have been more crowded.

Recommend to come here during Sakura season, you can get a very beautiful view of sakuras. As peaceful getaway from the buzzling city life. There are also many people having picnics in the cool breeze and admiring Sakura. Definitely worth a visit

Is the athletics track open to tourists / visitors to train (e.g.. for 1- 2 hours) in early morning or late afternoon? If yes- do we need to register.

When are the performers out on a Sunday? I went last Sunday from around 1-3pm, walked all around the park and there were no street performers. It is only a certain time they do their thing?

Sorry you missed the street performers: dancers, jugglers, buskers. I have seen them Sunday mornings. The rock dancers usually congregate at the front of the park.

Does the Yoyogi Park have a price to get in? And how long should we leave to adventure in Yoyogi??

No admission fee. You can enjoy rich greenery for many hours as you like but probably a couple of hours will just nice period.

Does this park have a playground for young children? If not - can you recommend somewhere in the area that does have play equipment (slides, swings etc). Thank you!

When does the park close on Sundays? We will be in the area after dinner and wouldn't mind taking a stroll if we can.

Yoyogi park does not close during the night. I always, especially in summer time, have picnics with my friends.
I think a lot of people are confused Yoyogi park and Meijijingu which is the shrine attached to Yoyogi park. Meijijingu closes at 5 and last entry time is 4 I believe! Happy holidays to you :)

Hi everyone. We've been really looking forward to hanging out in Yoyogi Park to soak up the Cosplay and Rockabilly vibe. To our horror we've just realised we won't be in Tokyo on a Sunday! Doh! What are the chances of seeing any Cosplay action on a Saturday? Or on weekdays for that matter? Thanks in advance...

Sometimes you can cross Rockabilly and Cosplay by walking around Tokyo. But in Yoyogi park, on Sundays, you have bigger chances. Better change your plans if you really want to see them in action!
