it's a nice fortress to visit by itself. in summer there are plenty of events organised inside it, from concerts, to exibitions, to even the recreation of and old battle between Napoleon's troops and Austrians (this is in October if I remember correctly).

I have attended the Armadillo Acoustic Guitar Festival in Sarzanna, Italy the last 2 years. The historic fortress is a most picturesque backdrop for this great event.
