About
Okinawa 39ers is one of a few bilingual diving operators located in the middle of Okinawa. We started our business in July, 2014, and since then we have had guests from all over the world, Europe, North and South America, Australia, Asia, etc. and have been one of the favorites of foreign divers visiting Okinawa. We take guests to Kerama Islands for a boat day trip, Cape Maeda "Blue Cave", and offer certification courses, etc. We look forward to your visit!

Daisuke was very prompt in replying to my email inquiry, even though it was already late at night. I was able to book a trip very easily :) We went to the Kerama Islands and the visibility was incredible! I was able to dive with white tip reef sharks and a big manta. Daisuke was fun to dive with, and also kind enough to send me photos afterwards from the dive and also extra information that I was looking for about dive shops and other dive trips. As an added bonus, the prices at 39ers are slightly cheaper than some of the other bilingual dive shops.

Dear Yui,
Thanks for the detailed review.
I was glad you enjoyed our service and diving in the Kerama islands. And yes, we were lucky to see a manta ray on that day, which made me happy too since it doesn't show up often.
I look forward to diving with you again.
Until then
Daisuke

My family enjoyed a wonderful day diving at Kerama Islands with Daisuke and Satomi of Okinawa39ers. We had a scuba diving team that swam through amazing rock formations; saw beautiful sea life including turtles and sharks; and experienced drift diving. We also had a snorkeling team that stayed closer to the surface but still swam with turtles and had great fun. Daisuke and Satomi were great underwater guides pointing out sea life, creating a fun and challenging dive while keeping us safe. Above the water, they were very friendly and effective communicators. The operations are very smooth and professional, involving a clean and relaxing dive boat. They also maintain a great online dive blog with diving details and pictures from our dives. We hope to return soon for more fun!

Really great dive operation, I did multiple dives with Daisuke over a week, including USS Emmons. Everything was communicated efficiently and clearly in English, and transport from the Chatan area was extremely helpful. Diving was well organised from tanks to any equipment required being in great condition, and the briefings were detailed. Safety was taken seriously, and I felt comfortable throughout my dives. Daisuke and his staff were also exceptional and kind people to interact with and would highly recommend anyone thinking of diving in Okinawa to dive with them! I hope to be back soon :)

Decided to introduce my friend to the amazing world of scuba diving, and Okinawa 39ers did not disappoint! Daisuke-san kept prompt communication until the day of the dive. We were picked up at our accommodation and our boat diving trip in the Kerama Islands were one for the keeps! Amazing coral reefs and we were lucky to have witnessed a lot of turtles! First time to see cabbage corals as well! Language was not a problem as Daisuke-san was very fluent in English and also patient in explaining the necessary safety procedures prior to the dives. The photos that were taken along the dives were simply great too! Okinawa 39ers is highly recommended for both novice and experienced divers alike!

I could not recommend Okinawa 39ers enough. I had one of my best dive experiences.
I went for the three dives at the Kerama islands, deal and it was worth every penny.
My guide was Satomi and she was fantastic. She took photos of all three dives and they came out amazingly clear.
(The photo I have added was taken by Satomi during the dive).
If you want to dive in Okinawa, please do so with Okinawa 39ers.

Went in for an intro program and it was great. Daisuke and Satomi were great at explaining what to expect in the dive. Went out with Satomi, she was very easy-going and very helpful in explaining the instructions. She was super nice and very accommodating. Thank you so much!!! Btw the noodles you recommended were great. I definitely would recommend Okinawa 39ers to anyone. I would like to go diving with them again.

Dear guest,
Thanks for the review.
It is always nice to hear that guests enjoyed intro diving since it is their first time diving experience. So we are glad that you like it as well as the noodles!!
And yes, we would love to to have you back here. Let's take a certification course then!
Until then.

Foremost, I want to thank all the TA reviewers for your input- without it, I will never be too sure if I have made the right decision from the start. I have never written any review for TA but now I am inspired to do so for the same reasons I believed most of you would have experienced after diving with Okinawa 39ers.
It has been an absolute delight & privilege to have picked Dai who ironically was the last dive operator I sent my enquiries to (out of 5-6 others) as I need to be thorough in my research since this was the first solo dive trip I have made and man, was I blessed to have dived with him for 5 days, 12 dives and hours of good company in the Kerama Islands, Cape Maeda, Manza and the USS Emmons!
From detailed & prompt email replies (Dai works during surface intervals… now we know :)) to arrangement of accommodation (I had a good deal for a beautiful fully equipped room less than a minute walk to the seawall), airport transfers, quality dive equipment, superb underwater experience… I can most certainly attest to the reviewers’ praises for Dai.
I have dived in 4 continents thus far- although Okinawa may not be my top 3 places to dive in, the super clear & colourful visibilities, unspoiled coral reefs, varieties of nudis, caves/crevasses experience and of course the deep dive of over 40m to view the USS Emmons will be a permanent awesome experience I will carry beyond my dive logs. Above all, Dai is officially my #1 Divemaster- his obliging commitments for his guests, knowledge, control underwater making you feel safe & confident, sharp darted eyes for spotting marine creatures we love (macro divers will love him), his demon photographic skills (I love the way one reviewer christened him that) and making sure you ascend near the boat (so as not to waste energy swimming back); are bar none to any DMs I have dived with. After these 5 days of super cool dive experience, I can only sum up the driving force behind Dai’s world-class professionalism – Passion!
As one reviewer pointed out, for those who have dived in SE Asia, do not expect to be pampered with gear set-up and have DM taking out your BCD underwater after dives. After this trip, I think I am now keen to set up my own gear next time! And yes, how can we forget the yummilicious miso soup after those amazing dives??
As of every trip, there will always be a tinge of imperfection which you bring home knowing that it may motivate you to return. We missed diving in Dream Hole (in Manza) due to strong currents/choppy water so yeah, until next time, I hope you have benefitted from my experience with Okinawa 39ers and connect with Dai for your awesome dive trips in Oki. And Dai… I look forward to reading more of your accolades in this space and let me know if you have finally spotted the lonely baby manta in Twin Rocks. Till then, stay super and Gambatte!

Hi Jennifer,
Wow, what a compliment comment!! I appreciate it.
Well, not many people come and dive here for five days so when I got your inquiry, I spent certain amount of time to make your dive trip nice and fun, which seemed to be worth doing from your comment.
Yes you had dove most of the highlight here except for "Dream Hole", haha. Good reason to come back. Also I said "here", which meant Okinawa mainland, and there are still many remote islands belonging to Okinawa, which offer a great diving, so you better come back.
I do look forward to seeing you again.
Till then
Dai

I completed my Advanced Scuba Diver in June 2015 with Dai. I was a little apprehensive initially as I had not dived in a while since my Open Water course, however this was not a problem at all as Dai was a great instructor. We completed 6 dives in total over 2 days (tiring but worth it!) including: finning exercises, compass navigation, rescue training, deep diving, rescue diving and buoyancy control. Dai is very patient and willing to take the time to answer questions and offer clarification until you have grasped a skill or have understood a concept. Would definitely hit Dai up the next time I'm in Okinawa!

Hi Nathan,
Thanks for your comment. Yes, Advance course is fun, huh? There are so many things to learn and experience, so six dives are not enough actually.
Hope you enjoyed your course here and had some diving somewhere in Australia since then.
Take care
Dai

I was extremely lucky to find Okinawa 39ers among all the operators on Okinawa. Dai is a fantastic guide, extremely reliable and professional and all the gear he provided was top. It was very personal experience far from the mass experience many of the other operators offer, where you feel like you're nothing but a number. Had an amazing day despite cold and rainy weather with three beautiful dives at the Manza area. Highly recommend Okinawa39s to anyone who is serious about a good and safe diving experience!

Hi Christina,
Thanks for the review.
I am glad that you enjoyed diving at Manza. As you said, it was rainy, but still diving was great here, huh?
There are a lot more places to go and dive in Okinawa so please let me know if you ever have a chance to come back. Till then.
Regards,
Dai

I had a planned business trip to Tokyo and decided to slip in three days diving in Okinawa; being English makes it hard to organise this sort of activity and accommodation without some considerable help – and that’s what I got from Daisuke (Dai san). A quick response to emails and excellent English learned while he studied marine tourism in Australia.
Accommodation in Chatan sorted, three days diving to look forward to and I was not disappointed – Dai was an excellent and knowledgeable fun dive guide and demon photographer as can be seen from his website, blog and some I've submitted with this review.
I was really lucky with the conditions – and had nine excellent boat dives and saw a superb selection of sea life from reef sharks to almost microscopic pygmy sea horses. The Kerama Islands (a small group of 20) have many dive sites and were stunning to dive – the boat Dai uses is top notch and well organised even having green tea on tap to help you re hydrate. Only in Japan!
Would I go back, yes of course.

Hi Colin,
Thanks for your review. Yes we did have lots of fun not only underwater but the post-diving time. I miss every single moment we spent together. Hope you have time to come back here and dive together again.
Stay fit

Do you have courses taught in English? How many days do I need to get a diving license? Is it easy to get to from the main island? Thx much

Dai speaks English very fluently. Not sure how many days to get your license as we already had ours. There are a few different dive spots on the main land of Okinawa and also islands you can be taken out to via boat with Dai.
