Definitely not off the beaten path. This is the main resort area on the island. The beach is gorgeous, snorkeling from shore is great, but it is crowded and expensive.

This beach is not super large, but it is the most beautiful beach/water you will find. Relaxing and not super busy - except on cruise ship days. Snorkeling down by Grand Roatan is excellent.

We chose this place based on other positive traveler reviews. The place is very nice and the staff is friendly, however under the “what’s included” description, ours said “alcoholic beverages”. This was NOT the case. You get ONE BEER with lunch and only one brand...More

West Bay Beach has some of the most beautiful waters I have ever seen. Try to snorkel as you can see 50 feet in every direction with no problem underwater. If beaching, you will be harassed a little bit buy people trying to sell stuff....More

Nice soft white sand and turquoise waters. Turn left and head towards cliffs and tiny rocky island if you like snorkeling for free. Suggest earlier the better for seeing larger fish. Plenty of places for thirst and hunger. Generally reasonable prices but further from beach...More

How long it takes depends on the traffic, but about 15 to 20 minutes. Bargain with a taxi driver for the cost, based on how many of you there are. West Bay is a wonderful beach for snorkeling. You will see colorful fish... More
