Ample and clean beach whose mood varies on winds and tides. It may go from swimming pool calm to surfer dream in the course of a few hours. Nevertheless, it's a clean fun beach with access to many vendors.
This is one of the best beaches in this area. Not totally secluded, but nice and quiet. It had that 'cove feel' with rocky points north and south of it. It was right across from the hotel we stayed at (Margaritaville). If you get up...More
Our great tour guide (Jener) took us there on a day we were beach hopping. This was definitely our best one by far, especially after we had lunch at coco loco on playa flamingo. The crew greeted us with open arms, the service was excellent...More
Our first time in Costa Rica and we stayed at Villa Fugata in playa flamingo! The area was so chill and it was not saturated with soliciting from the locals like the Tamarindo area. Many delicious restaurants and beautiful beaches within 5-20 min drive. We...More
Our family spent a week on Playa Flamingo. We loved listening to the sound of the crashing waves and walking along the beach. It's a longer than it looks! Our son (4 years old) spent hours building in the sand. We rented beach equipment from...More

Take a drive down to Tamarindo. It's a fun surfer town with lots of little shops and beachside restaurants. There are several nice beaches along the coast that are worth checking out as well, such as Playa Conchal or Playa Ocotal. Also check out Las Bualas National Park. All are within an hour's drive. You can also consider an excursion to Arenal. It's a long but beautiful drive (about 4 hours) so if you drive there yourself you don't get a lot of time to see and do things. If you take a tour at least you can rest on the way back while the bus driver handles the driving. That'll take about 12 hours total. Not for everyone. Last, how about a catamaran cruise right from Flamingo Marina? That is fun too. Enjoy!
