We live around the corner from the zoo. It has remained open throughout the summer months but with revised times. The do a safari in a AC bus. I would phone ahead to double check. You are also very close to jebel hafet and you could drive up there for lunch and check out the amazing view. There is also wadi adventure... you can definitely spend a couple of hours - visit the website for online deals. And it is less humid here by the mountain. Al ain is a worth a visit.
