We visited the market twice: on a typical morning when locals shop their groceries and tourist groups are on their food tours, and on a Thursday evening when the food stalls turn into bars and especially locals gather up to have a party. The atmosphere...More

It was always a very nice and good Marquet where locals came to buy there groceries but it has evaluated to a touristic attraction. Also very nice but not the same. And very crowded. What is very nice are all the great places to eat.

Mahane Yehuda is an absolutely amazing food market in the center of Jerusalem. Besides the usual food that is available there are coffee shops, bakeries and an really good vegetarian restaurant. I highly recommend.

There are a few regular grocery stores & pharmacies tucked in among the overpriced restaurants, beer joints, and fruit sellers here. The fruit is really expensive and the prices of everything jacked up for the tourist market. You can't haggle, and you'll get a surly...More

Loved the fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, breads, pastries, juices, chocolates, seafood, poultry, etc. The vibe, smell, people all make the experience unforgettable. One of the shops just outside the market sells a spinach and cheese sandwich (not exactly) for 15 shekels that I absolutely loved....More
