Very restrictive to Christians, you can walk in and view the church. I wouldn't buy from any of the vendors they do not want you there.

The place is kept clean, however there is very little information present about the history, so either have a guide, or research beforehand.

It is a small chapel with not much to see, but quite intriguing. The chapel supposedly has the last footprint of Jesus prior to His ascension to Heaven.

If you are on the Mount of Olives then it is worth dropping in to see the Church/Mosque of the Ascension but I wouldn't say go out of your way to see it even though there is a slab of rock on which there is,...More

Site entrance was free of charge a couple of years ago. Now you need a ticket of 5 shekels per person which is frankly a shame. On top of that, if you don't find a public parking spot, a guy may ask you 40 shekels...More

There’s not a lot to see here other than a place of some Biblical significance. It’s a small chapel converted into a mosque by Saladin after his conquest of Jerusalem in 1187. It’s claimed that this is the spot where Jesus ascended to heaven. Inside...More

Pretty unassuming and quiet place, didn't get a chance to spend much time here. To be fair there didn't appear to be much to do, and we didn't go into the Mosque either. Maybe next time.

Initially, the venue of Ascension at Mount Olive was a church. At present, it is a mosque . However, Christians and Muslims alike visit the same place in addition to all other visitors ,the best example of religious tolerance. The last footprint of Jesus on earth before...More

The Church of the Ascension became a mosque under Salaeddin but as many more Christian pilgrims than Muslim ones came to the place, the Arabs allowed them in. I enjoyed staying in that place and started my walk down the Mount of Olives there. The...More
