About
Set in one of Cabo San Lucas' liveliest areas, this downtown beach is famous for its gentle waves and warm waters—perfect for swimming or taking a dip. For the more adventurous, you can go parasailing and ride a jet ski or banana boat. This beach is also a popular starting point for kayak tours and snorkeling trips to El Arco. When hungry, the alfresco dining options are great—choose between classic American grub or traditional Mexican fare to fuel up. Note that the beach gets pretty busy on weekends and during the Spring Break months.

    Medano Beach
Medano Beach was a ten minute walk from the condo. It is a beautiful beach that is swimmable as not all beaches are in Cabo. Cruise ships come into the harbour on a daily basis. Lots of activities in the area. I would highly recommend spending time there.

The only beach we were able to swim. Very safe and clean !!!
The longest sandy walkable beach I’ve ever been to. The sand is very nice, it slopes some places more or less so it makes it a bit difficult to run it but we did it anyways. Good for the ankles ;) it’s couple miles at least to the end and back. Very clean and pristine.

    Waves, food & music!
This was my kids favorite beach (ages 7, 9, and 17) the waves can get a little rough towards the afternoon but the kids loved the waves deff keep your eye on the kids at all times! There’s a lot of food and souvenir vendors which can get annoying being asked every 5 minutes. You can rent a chair and umbrella there also and there’s parking for $40 pesos not dollars!

PLEASE be careful in the ocean
While the beaches and view at Medano Beach are gorgeous, PLEASE PLEASE be careful. The riptides are crazy. I consider myself a good swimmer. So when I saw several people bobbing around in the water 100 feet out, I thought "well, if they are in the water, then it should be safe for me to at least stand at the water's edge". Wow was I wrong. A bigger wave came (not so big where I thought I couldn't stand my ground), and the undertow just sucked me out. I've never been so scared. It tossed me around underwater for a while and then when I finally made it to the top, I got about half a breath and the next wave took me down. I just about ran out of air before I was able to swim to the top again. Suddenly, three strong Mexican men were at the shoreline and ran in to help me out. Never was I so scared at something so unpredictable. All I can say was, I had a false sense of safety seeing those other people out there. Turns out, waves come in a pattern there. Two big ones, then some smaller ones. That group must have swum out during the smaller ones and were beyond the wave line. I did not know that. How could i? Also, I learned there is a steep cliff just beyond the beach, and that encourages these riptides. Again, did not know that. I'm one of the lucky ones. Some people don't make it back. So please be careful and overly cautious and understand the water there is not like it may be back home.

Too much selling, overcrowded, and rough waves
Nice location, lots of activities but you are constantly harassed by people trying to sell you merchandise or trips or food. If you just want to relax in the beach, this is not the place but if you want every two minutes to have to talk to someone who’s trying to sell you something or even touch you to convince you to get a massage this is the place. Great views and close to city center.

    Very popular beach
This is the main beach near Cabo and it is filled with people during the middle of the day. The beach is also filled with vendors selling blankets and trinkets and also vendors selling tours. In fact, we took one of the tours from the beach for $20 per person and it worked out perfectly. This is also one of the stop points for a taxi boat from the Marina. So you can take taxi boats from the beach to either side of the Marina and visa versa. Further down on the beach – not directly where the boats are coming and going, the water is nice and easy to swim in. We visited end of December, near evening, and the water was still warm enough to easily swim. The downside is the crowds. We were told the beach had been much wider but the recent Hurricane had narrowed the beach substantially, resulting in fewer places for people to sit.

    Walk a lot
Really nice beach with clear water. Lots of restaurants and bars. Lots of fun. Vendors seem to bother you more when your at a restaurant or bar. Pricey to rent an umbrella and chair, one asked for $45 US. Better of to have your own from Walmart or just get this included at a restaurant or bar when you order drinks/food. Lots of water taxis if you are located at the other side of the marina, 20 minute walk.

    Great beach for walking
Great beach to walk and grab a water taxi for an arch tour. The vendors were not to pushy Tabasco Bar and restaurant is a nice spot for a break with their 2 for 1 specials. You can watch the cruise ships come in and yachts moor along the beach.

    Beautiful beach
Great place to walk and enjoy the atmosphere. The sand is soft. Lots of easy access to the beach. There are lots of restaurants on the beach offering shade and great views. Ther are a lot of vendors walking by but if this annoys you best not to engage. Chairs can also be rented for a beach experience. Very clean.

The beach is beautiful and we loved the boat tour. Unfortunately you can’t relax on the beach because you’re constantly being asked to buy something from vendors. They won’t leave you alone.

We entered Medano beach at the access near the Corazon hotel. Very busy and popular place to be. We made our way down to just past the Hungry Shark and settled in for the afternoon. Nice but loosely packed sand. Beautifully clear blue and refreshing cool water which was calm enough to be swimmable. I was grateful for the Hungry Shark, they offered beach service and ice-cold beverages. It seems everything is offered on this beach. I took advantage of the beach chair rental and passed on the umbrella rental (but would take that up if I was making a day of it). The downside: *constant* approaches by vendors offering everything from sculptures to clothes to jewelry. Most of which seemed well-made and beautiful, yet I tired of saying 'no, gracias' every 5 minutes. If I had to do it again, I'd head up the beach just past the last resort for a quieter experience, and bring my own beverages and supplies. Or try Pedregal Playa.

Loved the sand! The beach is not as clean as Playa El Chileno or Playa Santa Maria but the sand is nice. Also, I don't think it has a public washroom nearby or it's just not easy to find. It's a busy (crowded) area.

I've only seen photos of Medano Beach through the years. This was our first time in Cabo, and I was amazed at how truly beautiful it is.
