Great, friendly and there is no pressure to buy. Variation of crafts made out of wood, stones. There were beautiful cultured clothing.

Vendors we're way too forceful and tried to split up our group the second we were out of the bus. Scary. I've never seen anything like it. I was out within 3 minutes before I almost suffered an anxiety attack. There was no way in hell I would allow them to split me up from my husband let alone extended family.
* Traveling to other countries: groups should never be forced to split up quickly at an unfamiliar shopping market. Maybe it was a culture shock for me,but I was not having it. Red flags went off immediately and I felt unsafe. I will not be back as these forceful tactics made me uncomfortable.

I had a wonderful experience here - after going to Mexico many times, I was on alert. However, I found the experience to be a good one. We were probably the only sales some of these people got since they discourage tourists from going here anymore.
** If you can't deal with it, please don't write a nasty review. I found these people charming and yes, when I was done buying, I said no and they left me alone. But, I do stress, this is not for the faint-hearted. You will be pulled into their shops, you will be pressured into buying. But, you can say no assertively and they will get it. I got many charming handmade items. And I am also sad that people are saying this is all Made in China crap - it is not at all! I was literally followed through many shops by a man carving a bamboo cup for me as he was walking!
I would recommend staying away if you can't handle pressure, but if you're up for an experience you won't forget, then please go and support the locals!

After a nice afternoon of church and then touring in Montego Bay we enjoyed the craft store. The people are very pleasant even if you do not buy. Yes there is pressure but in the end the is "respect" as they call it.

MoBay is the land of fast Jamaicans. The Crafts Market is OK for traditional tourist stuff. But also you will find people selling drugs and other questionable product. Be careful!

I had a wonderful time at this market. Prices were reasonable and the quality of the products were great! Enjoyed the vendors and had a blast getting a history lesson. My son was able to get his hair braided nicely and very quick! I made friends for life here. Will definitely return here on the next visit to Jamaica.

We were told of the craft market on a tour bus so opted to visit. We went to the one in Rose Hall across from the Holiday Inn and were saddened to hear that by 3pm we were their only customers of the day! Apparently tourists are buying imported items from the gift shops instead of handmade items from the small craft markets. This market was about a 5 minute taxi ride down the road from Hyatt and the ladies running it were lovely. I wish I could've purchased from every stall to support their work!

We took a shopping trip given by the resort. We have all been to these places and have gotten mobbed.. Tell you the truth, this was quiet fun, very civil and nice folks..

Small market to buy souvenirs at. Don't forget to haggle with the prices!! Most shops have the same items.

This place was a huge disappointment. We stopped here hoping to pick up some souvenirs of our first trip to Jamaica. When we rode past the day before it looked very promising with its MANY bright colored small wooden shacks. When we arrived mid day there were literally no other customers (which should have been telling) As we walked past each booth EVERY VENDOR started screaming at us to come to them to see “what they had made” First of all I don’t go anywhere when someone is screaming at me. Second of all I question how much of the merchandise is actually made by them as it appeared that every place sold the exact same items. Don’t waste your time.

How do you suggest getting there? Is it worth it to book a tour to take you or better to just hail a cab?

I would suggest taking a cab. This will allow you to spend more time there. The tour is ok but they have a time limit on esch attraction.
