About
The Mangazina di Rei (1824) was used by the Dutch government to store provisions for the slaves. This second oldest stone building on Bonaire now forms part of our Cultural Park where visitors can see, feel & taste the culture of Bonaire. A guided tour includes history to experience, instruments to play, great views to enjoy and a traditional beverage that's worth to taste.A fascinating way to soak the local culture. You will never forget it!

What a gem to find while driving through Rincon! The museum is well stocked with items and information that answers a lot of questions about the history of Bonaire and the culture. I was surprised it was all written in English but it was explained to me that people who speak Papiamento know their history and so many other tourists (and Dutch) speak English. We were fascinated and were the only one there at the time so we really enjoyed taking our time reading and looking over everything. I plan to return for the monthly events!

Have been here years ago and they have added to it in that time. While the museum is small, it has various objects in it of interest. We had a very good guide that explained various objects.
The guide also talked about the cactus fences and how they were constructed. Another part of the tour centered on music instruments and their history with the island.

General displays showing a broad section of life. Individual guides showed musical instruments which we played to music. A lot of fun. Showed us how the cacti fenced were made. And background of the history of slavery in Bonaire. Friendly and informed guides

Great fixed exhibition, I really got a wonderful and insightful glimpse into the history and culture of the island. The exhibition covers a large variety of elements on the island from Geology, Flora and Fauna, Local Musical Instruments, interesting facts about Bonaire just after WW II and a look into the unique fusion of cultures that created the architectural designs on the island. A must to visit if you on the island! It will enrich your experience and understanding of Bonaire.

We were fortunate to have been in Bonaire when the Cultural Park holds a cultural event and market with local musicians, dancers, informative talks, local artisans and food. It's held the last Saturday of every month. We loved the music and dancers and really enjoyed talking to the local artists. You can pick up wonderful items to bring back home. Presentations by local are informative - one we heard by a local scientist was about the current effects of climate change on island life and what to expect in the future.

The culture of the island is well illustrated in the museum and the culture really come to life with the music and dance demonstrations. The demonstration of making catus hedging was particularly good. The one demonstrator was particularly good at answering any questions asked. Well worth a visit.
