Great experience, as Jeff was extremely informative, insightful and entertaining. He toured us around the city providing a ton of historical background for the neighborhoods, the tourist sites, and stopped at several places so we could take some great pictures (the view of the river is amazing!). He even provided a great suggestion for lunch (Tarrant's was fantastic!). Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for an enjoyable time learning about the city and seeing some great architecture dating back centuries.

If you want the short story: we had an amazing time and would absolutely do it again! This is most definitely a 10/10 would recommend scenario.
I found RVATukTuk on Instagram while searching for something fun to do with my family while they were in town. Since I live pretty far from my home town, my family hasn't been down to visit much. It was important that I make the trip as special as possible and show them my city.
I was unsure which tour to book at first because they offer so many! I reached out via email to RVATukTuk and they responded immediately. They were very patient with all of my questions and walked me through everything which I really appreciated. The site was easy to use and I was able to book everything in less than 5 minutes.
On the day of the tour it was raining - ugh! Before I could even reach out, they called me and assured me that the TukTuk was equipped with rain gear so we could still go on the tour. They also gave me the option to reschedule for no extra charge. Can you say amazing customer service?! Since my family was only here for the weekend, we kept our tour as scheduled and we're so glad we did!
The TukTuk holds 6 people and we were able to bring a car seat on board for our 7 month old. We were able to see some great spots and learn more of the city's history. My family and I truly enjoyed it!

We have had many tuktuk rides on dusty roads in Southeast Asia, but never in an electric tuktuk that felt more like a luxurious 6 person golf cart. We booked the City Tour last Friday with John as our knowledgeable and engaging guide, and arranged for pickup at St Johns Church. My husband and I were with a local Richmond friend, so John customized our stopping points to focus on recent and past history, and we skipped Scott’s Addition since we planned to visit breweries on our own the following day. The tuktuk was impeccably clean, there were seat belts for safety, and the open air set up with vinyl roof allowed us to feel completely covid-safe while maximizing photo taking opportunities. It was a perfect way to start our Richmond weekend. Highly recommended!

While I really wanted to love this experience I am giving it a barely passing grade. First, getting into the vehicle was extremely difficult due to the extremely high step up into the seats. I literally had to crawl into the space. The area between the seats was barely 18” if that wide… far too narrow for the six adults on the ride. Our knees touched, our feet were tangled together with those on the sides left to dangle their feet into the well where the first totally inadequate step was. There certainly should have been some cautions on load limits as cramped doesn’t even come close to describing the painful circumstances of the ride. With the canopy on the vehicle, it was difficult to see anything of the murals we were supposed to be viewing. Even switching side’s didn’t improve the view.
Now for the bright light of tour…the guide. He was engaging, good natured, knowledgeable, and attentive…managing to sift thru the chatter of the participants and answer questions with humor and charm. He was also an extremely good driver, skillfully avoiding being broadsided by an idiot who ran a red light. The people on the ride also made heroic efforts to make the best of the painful situation.
So bottom line, provide a better step up into the vehicle, don’t seat more than 4 adults max. Plan the route with sight lines in mind so the participants can see what they are paying for.
Now for the bright light of tour…the guide. We had a fantastic time on the mural tour this past weekend. We were in town to tour VCUArts and wanted to see the artsy side of the town. Guide was fantastic (and fun) -- knowledgeable about the city, its history and the murals/artists. We were able to see art across the city from the Fan and Museum districts to the waterfront. Would highly recommend the company and the mural tour. There was even a blanket on the benches to keep us warm for a cool February morning. We're still talking about the tour days later.

What an incredible way to spend an afternoon in Richmond! We loaded up our group of 12 into two tuk-tuks and our drivers whirled us around the city hitting some great spots we never would have found on our own. I never felt unsafe or had concerns even when alongside normal cars in traffic. We had our music going and drinks flowing and got to drive through Hollywood cemetery, visit breweries, stop for photos at Libby Hill looking out over the river and more! Loved it and can't recommend enough!

Our guide, a local teacher, was highly motivated and informative. She shared her knowledge of the city, the sights and the historical context. We had a 1 & 1/2 hour tour that gave us both an overview and a deep dive on many points. Even residents of Richmond will learn from this experience. It was a cold morning and we used the blankets provided.

It was our first visit to Richmond and we chose RVA Tuk Tuk to provide unique experience to get an overview of what the city had to offer.

The tacky light tour was so much fun! Our driver was hilarious and full of interesting trivia about Richmond. There were a TON of homes on the tour. A neat way to take in The Fan, Oregon Hill, and Museum District over the holidays. The heated seats and clear flaps on the Tuk Tuk kept us comfy despite the 32 degree weather.

1) ALL of the guides on a tour should be equally knowledgeable. We had scheduled two Tuk tuks for our group of 8 but only one of the driver/guides provided most of the information. The people in the other vehicle were basically relegated to just riding along.
2)Dismayed over what little part of the area was toured. This was booked as a Tour of Richmond but we spent the great majority of the time riding around the cemetery.
3) Tuk tuks were struggling to make it up hills throughout the cemetery. One vehicle had shut down several times and the other one required the riders to get out and walk up a hill even though each car’s 4 - passenger weight was well within the limit.
4) Due to a problem with the parking meter at the meeting spot we began our tour 10 minutes late, but still arrived back 5 minutes early. We paid for a full 90 minute informative tour of the city and got far less. A very costly, disappointing experience and an embarrassment while hosting out-of-town guests!
