About
Discover one of Louisiana’s most significant historical landmarks, and leave all the logistics to someone else, when you book a tour of either Laura Plantation or Oak Alley Plantation. The former is a restored Louisiana Creole plantation, and the latter, true to name, is renowned for its 300-year-old oak trees. Whichever you choose, you can step back in time; pay tribute to the plantation’s dark history; and learn more on an in-depth, guided tour.

Tour canceled just 20 min in advance
Nov 2021 • Solo
I booked the plantation tour for my holiday trip to NOLA and looked forward to this tour. However, this tour agency literally canceled my tour just 20 min before it would start with a text message, which ruined my day and my whole trip. It’s a half day tour and I was shocked. I called them right away. As expected, they could only say sorry and suggest me to find a new agency, which is unrealistic at all. I’d suggest to go to a larger and more reliable agency if the tour is important to you.

Great tour of the plantation house. The only thing that I wish was done differently is having the same tour guide throughout the entire tour. Otherwise, overall a well worth it trip.

Great historic trip and tour
My fiancé and I had a great time on the Oak Alley plantation tour. We were picked up on time by Andy from the hotel. He was very knowledgeable and funny. The big house tour was very interesting and we enjoyed learning about the history. The grounds are beautifully kept but it was a somber experience. I am glad they didn’t shy away from the slavery aspect. Andy got us back in one piece and gave tips on where to go in NOLA.

Long trip for only 2 actual hours with only 40 mins of guide
House and grounds were very interesting and honest of the time period. But the only “guide” was in the house. And only 2 hours of actual visit. The drive was a full hour each way plus the travel pickup/drop off of other travelers The driver was just that..a driver and no guide of New Orleans or Oak Alley.

Beautiful Oak Trees

The grounds and the house were beautiful… The tour guides in the house were very knowledgeable. My only concern was with our bus driver… Although the tour company stressed masks were required, the driver never wore one, nor did he care of some of the passengers wore one, even when I asked him.

Bring a jacket and a lot of patience
The long and short of it, bring a jacket and wear long pants! This is a critique of the drive to and from the plantation, which is what you are buying. The tours of the Plantation are provided by the plantation and are excellent. The bus driver there and back was great, full of stories and a solid driver. Here’s what killed it for us. It was a cold and rainy day and the AC was on in the bus. I asked a number of times to turn it down, and he did, but we and others were still very cold and to shy to make a fuss. What’s worse is it blows on the back of your neck and feet, which today were wet because of the rain. When we stepped out into the 70 degree air I wanted to kiss the sky! Such a relief. So if your don’t love cold AC when you are dressed for a warm day, bring fall weather clothes for the two hour round trip.
ONE MORE THING, and this is for the company to read. Please make people pay before they get on the bus! Making us wait while the driver hand types in the credit card information into his phone to collect payments for 20 minutes before we get started is just insulting and made us late to the tour. Everyone was grumbling. Other companies don’t do it this way. Lesson: Next time I’ll rent a car.

Nice change of pace to get out of the city. Relaxing experience. Tour guide/bus driver very informative providing tidbits of info during the 1hr drive each way. Definitely will take this tour again and/or the other plantation tours available.

Really interesting tour
Mar 2020
We travelled from NOLA with Southern Style Transportation, our driver was funny and knowledgable.

At Oak Alley it was Rhett who showed us around the house. He was also knowledgable and could answr any questions we had.

There was also a girl giving a talk outside the slaves huts (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name). She was excellent, so passionate about the subject.

We were there about 2 hours and this was long enough, we covered everything we wanted to see in 2 hours.
