Get a drink-focused insider tour of New Orleans’ famous French Quarter. Leave the navigation to your guide as you hit up the area’s historic bars and restaurants and have the option to taste classic cocktails. You’ll learn about the sometimes scandalous history of the quarter’s drinking culture and come away with ideas about where to to return during the rest of your stay.
  • Learn about classic cocktails and New Orleans’ history in one tour
  • Try cocktails (own expense) at a handpicked selection of bars
  • Talk to talented mixologists about their cocktail-making process
  • Get info on the best places to eat and drink during the rest of your stay
What to Expect
Head to the Gray Line Lighthouse Ticket Office, centrally located in the French Quarter, to meet your guide. Please note that some finer establishments prohibit cut-off shorts or tank tops, so dress accordingly. Take off down the street and listen to your guide explain how New Orleans’ architectural style developed. Stop at several handpicked bars, each legendary in its own right, and learn the origins of some classic New Orleans cocktails, such as the Sazerac. Drinks are available for purchase, handmade by expert mixologists, at each stop. Make a stop at Antoine's Restaurant, a historic family restaurant (the oldest in the city). As your guide provides commentary on its history, you can purchase a drink from the Hermes bar. Step into its private dining rooms and explore their collection of Mardi Gras memorabilia. Return to your starting point, armed with the eating and drinking information you need for the rest of your visit.

Joe absolutely took his time to make sure we got a good history of each place and the important role it's played in the development of cocktails in the history of America. He even wrote a book about it.

The tour was good overall. It was cool to learn all the history of the restaurants of the bar. Our tour guide was an older guy but I can’t remember his name. He was very knowledgeable, funny, and hospitable. The only issue we had was a lot of the places we stopped were closed

Brian was personable, informative and engaging in leading us through the enchanted, haunting streets of the French Quarter. The tour is an ideal combination of gaining historical perspective and a taste of the libations made famous in The Big Easy. This is my second year booking
