About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- gordonsP9526XL0 contributionsHighlight of Our New York TripWe have done a bunch of food tours over the years, but I think this one will be the most memorable. We met up with Brian, the best food tour guide ever, at the African Burial Ground National Monument. Since we were early, Brian took a moment to talk to us about the monument and what it represents. It's moments like this that set this tour apart from others. It not only about the food, but about New York's history. We set off through Chinatown and Little Italy on our way to the Lower East Side. We talked about all the various groups of immigrants who made their way to these storied neighborhoods, and sampled several of the iconic foods they brought with them. The food was so amazing. So good that it left us feeling as if New York just does it all a little better than everyone else. Being from Los Angeles, with its massive Chinese and Mexican populations, I never imagined that I would taste the best Chinese Dumplings, or Tres Leches Cake in my life. That said, it was Brian and not the food that truly made it great. He was so natural and thoughtful about the whole experience. It felt like we were visiting a favorite cousin in his hometown...he was simply showing us around to all of his favorite places. He shared stories of then and now, gave recommendations of things he thought we might enjoy, and gave us a real native perspective. The entire experience was a great way to get to know the neighborhoods of New York City, experience great people, and walk away with a longing to come back and do it all again someday.Written 8 November 2024
- T5770ZTlorig0 contributionsGreat Combo of History and FoodWe had a great time on our tour with our guide, Erik. One other couple cancelled, so we were the only two on the tour. Erik was very knowledgeable about all things New York and had clearly done his research on the tour. We learned a lot and tasted great food from four different cultures. We'd definitely recommend this tour for people interested in both history and food.Written 8 November 2024
- richardbarley0 contributionsA wonderful tour of the history of the financial district with a lovely, very knowledgeable guideWe had the Alexander Hamilton tour with Astrid, and it was absolutely fantastic! We weee lucky that we were the only people on the tour when we went, so we had all of Astrid’s time and attention. The tour was so interesting - Astrid did a brilliant job of drawing us into the history of the area and the life of Hamilton and Burr and her knowledge and understanding of the people and events that shaped the area of the financial district were second to none. We’d thoroughly recommend this tour and Astrid’s wonderful guidance!Written 6 November 2024
- connysN6324VI0 contributionsGreat tour through history and cuisine!Very interesting and entertaining tour. Bruce was a great guide! There was a lot to learn about the different immigrant streams and their typical neighborhoods and places in the Lower East Side. Garnished with lots of fun facts. The food stops were well chosen – long-established classics that we would probably never have found ourselves. As we also had perfect weather, it was an all-round enjoyable morning. Highly recommended!Written 27 October 2024
- hayleymU8588EL0 contributionsTenement Food tour NYCJessie was a fabulous guide. She knew the history, areas and food so well. My teenagers enjoyed the stories and food as much as the adults in the group. It was a great way to learn as well as see some wonderful parts of the city. Well worth the time and cost.Written 27 October 2024
- Compass671312322380 contributionsAmazing Tour, Amazing GuideMickey was an absolutely amazing tour guide. We learned quite a bit of new information about Alexander Hamilton as well as downtown NYC. The tour itself was nicely paced; we saw way more of the Wall Street Area than I thought we would! I’d recommend this to any lover of American History and/or Hamilton!Written 17 October 2024

- feistel0 contributionsAll about HamiltonErik was our guide on the tour of Hamilton's life in NYC. He was friendly and knowledgeable and answered extra questions were had along the way. We did this tour in the early afternoon before going to see the Broadway Hamilton play in the evening, and we're very glad we did. It helped us catch a lot of the references glanced on during the songs and let our 9 year old have an easier time following along with everything.Written 22 September 2024
- gravesgoneagain0 contributionsSo much yummy food !We really enjoyed our walking food tour of the lower east side. The tour size was perfect with just 6 people. We explored Chinatown and Little Italy and learned so much about the immigrant communities that form the tapestry of NY. Our guide was exceptional and we had so much food !Written 20 September 2024
- ailishb20130 contributionsGreat guide and interesting tour!Awesome and really interesting tour with Mickey! Ended up being a private tour as it was only me and her as some other participants didn't show up. Enjoyed all the food (I should have come more hungry) and the tales of the Lower East Side. Mickey was full of knowledge. The tour was a great way to experience the lower east side and understand its development to what it is today. Have recommended this tour to others visiting NYC.Written 15 September 2024
- erikarZ4222QW0 contributionsAmazing Food Tour with AlexWe had a wonderful walking cultural and food tour with our Intrepid Guide, Alex! Learned so much about the various cultures that have shaped the food, culture and landscape of Manhattan. Highly recommend!Written 12 September 2024
- billandcathyh20240 contributionsInteresting, Fun, Great Guide!Excellent tour! It was well structured, remarkably interesting, and fun. My husband and I are familiar with that area of the city and had read Chernow's biography of Hamilton. Mickey, the guide, gave us a great tour that added so much to our understanding of the context, area, and life of Hamilton and his key contemporaries. She was able to answer our questions and enhance the tour on the fly. We recommend the Hamilton tour and this guide, Mickey, to any group. As a guide, she showed mastery of the subject and the ability to adjust her presentation to her audience. Truly a great tour.Written 11 September 2024

We’ve been on several food tours, but this was our first with this company. First the positives: the neighborhoods we visited in Brooklyn were lovely. The food at each locally owned establishment was really good. Each welcomed us and happily greeted our guide as well. The tour guide, Alex, was very nice and knowledgeable. We also understand that with COVID, restrictions facing the food industry in NYC can be limiting. We ate everything outside, mostly standing or sharing a small bench. The main problem for us was the repetition of food choices and the very small portions of food we were given for the amount we paid. Most of the food was filled with sugar and carbs (not so great for the diabetic in the family) including cookies, pastry, and an egg crepe. We split croissants, bagels, and pizza. We expected to eat lunch foods, but most were geared toward breakfast or snacks. The small portions would not have been as much of an issue if they included more protein. We paid close to $100 with taxes and fees. We were given 1/2 of a croissant, some cookies from 2 different Italian bakeries, 1/4 of a bagel, 1 Mediterranean spinach pie (the largest portion of food we were given), 1/2 slice of pizza, and 1 small drink. The food for one person added up to less than $20. Really? We actually left a food tour feeling hungry….this has never happened to us before. Whoever selects the food to taste needs to rethink the menu. If it does not satisfy a petite person like myself who gets filled quickly by meals, I doubt larger people with bigger appetites would feel satisfied either. This was beyond disappointing. We’ll definitely be back to Brooklyn, we can’t wait to explore other neighborhoods with delicious cafes and deli’s, but we won’t waste our money on a food tour next time.

Brian was a great guide with all the knowledge of the history of the area and the restaurant we went to, which made the tour very memorable and wonderful experience. All the restaurants were good, but our favorite was Shelsky's of Brooklyn, Damascus bread and Chocolate Room - the flavor of the food on these places were unique and rare to find so fresh.
Make sure to inform your preferences ahead to Brian so he can plan it ahead. He made sure that he catered to all 6 of our needs and dietary restrictions which was awesome as we all could have fun family time.

This was the only reasonably-reviewed tour of Brooklyn that suited my schedule and that I was able to find before leaving my country. It turned out to be fun.
It was a hot day, but our guide made sure everyone got to stand in the shade while not getting in the way, providing enough time to sit. She spoke slowly. She often provided an extra portion of food (to which we mostly declined in order to save space for our stomachs). She made sure we knew where the restrooms are and where we could get free drinking water.
Being sort of a senior person myself, I was afraid that the food may be too heavy, but it turned out to be a nice balance of light snacks often with a sour taste and the sweets were sophisticated.
Our guide had an interesting habit of getting the 2nd digit of 4-digit years wrong, so some of the historical events she explained was exactly a century incorrect. But I soon caught that habit and was able to look it up myself later to find out facts. Since her 4th digit was always correct, it was easy to learn from her many hints. Perhaps there were places/food/drinks she skipped and questions she couldn't answer properly, but her storytelling was magnificent, and our group became a friendly bunch creating a pleasant atmosphere.
The one thing I feel can be easily improved is the meeting spot. Although the address is clearly stated, no landmark was informed to us in advance, and it's not that there is a sign for the tour. (As our guide explained as part of the tour, it was a new shop that opened after the pandemic, and Google Street View showed nothing.) Upon arrival, I asked a boy standing next door to the address, and as he went back and forth trying to help me, it took some time until I asked a group of people if they happened to be the tour. This could be prevented if the guide held up a small card, or if our last-minute voucher showed the name of the shop.
Overall, it was a great way to spend lunch time tasting bits and pieces of a variety of local food while consuming it through a walk in ordinary residential places, learning cultures and history old and new.

I had a great time on the Brooklyn Food, History and Culture tour. Our guide Brian was very knowledgeable and we visited a lot of great spots I never heard of before. Everything we tasted was absolutely delicious and I loved how we walked through the neighborhoods too. Overall, I felt safe on this tour as well since everyone had a mask on the enough time (besides when we were actually eating/drinking), the group was small (only 5 people) and everyone was socially distant from each other.

We did the walking Brooklyn brownstone food tour with Angelo and could not recommend it more. Just the right amount of food for a lunchtime tour but it was the historical info that made it for us. Angelo has so much knowledge and clearly puts the time and effort into knowing the stories he shares. A really wonderful way to spend a few hours - thanks Angelo!

This tour was a total blast from start to finish. I just moved to Brooklyn and this was a great way to explore my new neighborhood. I really appreciated the locality of this tour. It authentically highlighted Brooklyn and went beyond the tourist spots to gve us a taste of what Brooklyn really has to offer. Our tour guide, Sasha, was absolutely supurb. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the various spots that we visited along the way and created an environment where everyone felt welcome and safe, even in the middle of a pandemic. I would highly recommend, no matter if you are visiting NYC or have lived here for years. And when you do, make sure you take it with Sasha!

We have just enjoyed this tour of Brooklyn with Greg. A fabulous walking tour across the varied cultures and flavours- Italian, Jewish, middle eastern and local. Good tastes intertwined with the history of Brooklyn. Greg was a knowledgeable guide with a genuine enthusiasm for the area, it’s people and those of us experiencing it for the first time.

Micaela was a great tour guide!
She did a Brooklyn tour with only my friend and I during a polar vortex… it was about 5 degrees out and she never made us feel bad for keeping her outside lol.
The food was really good and perfect portion sizes! We had a great variety and even had time to sit and enjoy some of the bigger items. Our guide knew everyone at all the shops and they were all super friendly.
Micaela shared great Brooklyn history and we walked a bit to see architecture and some good city views. She answered our questions and gave us great fun facts!
Highly recommend this foodie tour!

Hannah was AMAZING! She has such a bubbly and fun personality to have as a guide and I was able to learn a lot about the culture of the food and the immigration of the city of New York! Love the bagel recommendations from someone who grew up in the city!
