Northern Lights and Arctic Circle Day Trip from Fairbanks

Select Date and Travellers
2 travellers
On this full-day trip from Fairbanks, you'll acquire plenty of bragging rights for friends back home as you cross the Arctic Circle and (hopefully) see the Northern Lights. Take in the landscape of Alaska's unspoiled wilderness while enjoying comfortable transport and narration from a guide. A light meal and hotel transport are included.
  • Visit the Arctic Circle on a day trip from Fairbanks
  • See the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, one of the world's largest oil pipelines
  • Look for Alaskan wildlife along the Yukon River and on Finger Mountain
  • Hope to catch sight of the Aurora Borealis on the return to Fairbanks
What to Expect
Start with pickup from your Fairbanks hotel, then set out for the Arctic Circle in your comfortable climate-controlled vehicle. Your guide points out landmarks along the way, including the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, which runs for more than 800 miles (1,287 kilometers) across Alaska. At the mighty Yukon River, stop for a walk along the riverbanks. Then head up to Finger Mountain to look for moose, bear, fox, and and other native wildlife. There, snack on provided sandwiches, dessert, and hot drinks. When you reach the Arctic Circle, you’ll receive a 'Cross the Circle!' certificate and have time to take pictures and a look around. Travel back to Fairbanks at night and hope to view the Aurora Borealis. Sightings of this natural phenomenon are not guaranteed, but the chance to see the otherworldly light display is well worth a try. Your tour ends with return to Fairbanks at dawn.

I am widowed and traveling alone. It's bad enough to have lost my husband and traveling companion at such a young age; but to be told this can only be booked with a 2 person minimum is truly heartbreaking. Many other adventures and excursions require...More

The van we rode in to the Artic circle was not a 15-pack. There were seats in the middle though which wouldn’t have a window. We only had 6 tourists on our tour, so we all had a window (3 rows of seats). The minibus was one... More

If you go mid September or mid March you will have about 10 hours of daylight. Yurt tours don’t pick you up until it’s dark, about 10 pm in mid September. Probably earlier pickup later in December.
