Overview

Explore historic Philadelphia on this walking tour of the Old City District, a quick and convenient introduction for first-time visitors. You'll see Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Betsy Ross House, Franklin Court, Carpenters’ Hall, and the Declaration House. Then wander down Elfreth’s Alley, the nation’s oldest continuously inhabited residential street. Plus, choose from multiple departure times to suit your needs.

What to Expect
Meet your guide at a convenient central location and set out to explore Philadelphia’s Old City District. Walk between Old City’s historic landmarks and hear stories about Philadelphia that the locals don’t even know.

Follow your guide to Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Carpenter’s Hall, and the Betsy Ross House, where the first American flag was sewn. Explore Franklin Court, the site of Benjamin Franklin’s home and print shop, and visit his grave site at the Christ Church burial ground. See the Keys To Community sculpture, a bronze bust of Franklin with over 1,000 donated keys worked into the surface.

Then walk down the block to the Declaration House, a red-brick building where Thomas Jefferson lived while drafting the Declaration of Independence. Wander down historic Elfreth’s Alley, and then end your tour or continue exploring on your own.

Informative and funny!

Our guide, Tim, was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. He told us a lot of things, especially about Ben Franklin, that we didn't know. He was also funny! I definitely recommend this tour.

You would do better with a guide book

My family and I took the tour with a guide named Tim. We met him in front of a candy shop. He didn't introduce himself, just gave a few words on what we would be seeing and off we went. He was a poor speaker....More

Our tour ended at Independence Hall. Inquire from Tim if all do when booking and go online to book a time for IH shortly after the end of Tim’s tour.

I rechecked my itinerary. It started at 5 pm. You’ll enjoy the tour...especially if Tim is your tour guide.
