Philadelphia Historical Independence Walking Tour
From US$20.00
As the nation’s first capital, and location where the Declaration of Independence was signed, Philadelphia is considered the birthplace of American democracy. More than just an overview of the city’s history, this in-depth tour will whisk you to more than 20 essential Philadelphia landmarks, all in a short timespan. See Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House, the former home of the US Congress, and follow in the footsteps of the Founding Fathers.
What to Expect
Choose from several available departure times, meet your guide in front of the conveniently located Independence Visitor Center, and set off on a whirlwind tour of Philadelphia’s essential historical landmarks.
See Independence Hall—where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were both discussed and then adopted—as well as Betsy Ross House, said to be where the first American flag was sewn. As you go, learn from your guide all about Philadelphia’s place in American history, as well as the Founding Fathers that once called the city home.
In total, you’ll see over 20 important historical sites. Other stops along the way will include the house where Thomas Jefferson first drafted the Declaration of Independence, the original Supreme Court building, Congress Hall, and other key highlights of Independence National Historical Park.

The tour lasted about two hours and we walked somewhere between 2.5 and 3 miles. Totally doable, even if you aren’t in great shape!
