Overview

On this distinctive Manhattan architecture tour, you get a perspective on the city that many travelers don’t: by boat, as you circle around the island of Manhattan. Hop aboard a climate-controlled 1920s-style yacht, enjoy a refreshing beverage, and listen to your guide—a trained architect—tell stories about the city’s history, famous skyscrapers, and riverfront construction.

What to Expect

Your journey around Manhattan begins at Chelsea Piers. Climb aboard either the Manhattan or Manhattan II—both 1920s-style yachts with teak decks and climate-controlled observatories.

On the tour, you make a complete circumnavigation around Manhattan, traveling along the Hudson, East, and Harlem rivers. As you go, your guide—a trained architect—provides expert insight on the city’s history, skyscrapers, and riverfront development.

From the water, you see many of the city’s distinct landmarks, including the Chrysler Building and One World Trade Center. You also catch glimpses of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and other waterfront highlights. As you go, enjoy one complimentary glass of beer, wine, or other beverage on board, as well as hors d’oeuvres.

The tour ends at your departure point at Chelsea Piers.

Appreciate Manhattan from a new perspective

This is a truly special tour around Manhattan. I took it twice - once with the family, and a second time as an office outing. The boat is a classical beauty, lots of light and one can see everything even when sitting inside. The outdoor...More

Excellent experience

Loved the boat and the tour. Very knowledgeable narrator from AIA. Lovely snack mid tour. My only complaint was that the narrator was soft spoken, and though he admonished people to keep the noise down, they didn’t. When brought to his attention, he simply moved...More

Beats the heck out of the mass boat tours

Pros: outstanding environment for a boat tour, 20-25 people on ours. Great views and knowledgeable commentary. Ours provided a complimentary glass of wine for each person. Option to sit inside in air-conditioned comfort or outside at front of boat (although very windy there). Cons: too...More

There is plenty of seating and easy sight lines from the seats. However, I think you have to step down into the yacht. You might need to call them directly to find out.

I seem to recall that when I made my reservations it indicated how many seats were available. Always safer to reserve in advance.
