Overview
Discover the speakeasies of 1920s New York on a leisurely evening walking tour. Skip long lines as your guide brings you through hidden entrances that are nearly impossible to find on your own. While you sip on 2-3 specialty cocktails over the course of the evening, you'll learn about the history of Prohibition-era New York.
What to Expect
Meet your guide in downtown Manhattan for a brief introduction to Prohibition-era New York. At the first speakeasy of the tour, you'll enjoy a craft cocktail (own expense) as you listen to the history of the city’s clandestine bars and breweries.
This tour guarantees you breeze past long lines to make the most of the evening. Going with a local guide is a necessity, as most speakeasy entrances are hidden or unmarked as they would have been in the 1920s.
Follow the guide to bars that even locals can’t find, in back alleys, through phone booths, behind a psychic shop, or past doors marked “No Entrance.” By the end of the tour, leave feeling more in the know than most New Yorkers.

We had booked a Speakeasy Lower East Side (NYC) by Alex's Tours through Viator in December, 2018. Alex corresponded with me via email as well as phone that there had to be a minimum number of participants for the tour to 'make'. I told him...More

Great way to experience the lower east side!

This was the best part of our trip because we could walk the streets like locals. Also, it's nice to meet other travelers. There were 2 other couples on our tour, 1 from Scotland and the other from England. Alex was so nice. He shared...More

From memory they go from four areas in Manhattan island and we did the west village. Either way they are all in “main” areas of the city and easy to get to by subway. Hope that helps.
