Excellent tour, excellent food, and lots of fun!
Mar 2020
My husband, our daughter and her husband and I, spent a lovely Sunday afternoon touring Hayes Valley with Ahmet, the owner of the tour company, and one of his guides, Marie. They were very informative, sharing great historic photos of the area, as well as colorful anecdotes, and detailed explanations of the foods and beverages that we sampled, all of which were excellent. The area is very colorful, vibrant and full of great options and Ahmet and Marie did a great job of showing it off!

Exceptional Food Tour - Hayes Valley Gourmet Food Tour
Feb 2020
A short business trip to San Fran and this tour was just what I needed. Hayes Valley is beautiful, hip, chic and full incredible food and wine destinations. Our guide - Ahmet - literally knew everything about the food, the sourcing, the preparation, the people who prepared the food, the wines, the history of the area...I could go on and on. This tour was exceptional. I enjoyed a diverse cross section of food and beverages. Everything was wonderfully delicious, fresh and vibrant. Absolutely one of the best tours I have taken in any city. I plan to book another tour on my next trip to San Fran in a few weeks.

One of a kind with 5 star service
I was visiting SF for a fun weekend away with friends. Given the foodie reputation of the city we were intent on doing a tour. Our hotel, the Fairmont in Nob Hill, highly recommended Gourmet Walks to use for this experience. We weren’t disappointed. Ahmet the owner is very responsive, professional, and makes great recommendations - even beyond his tour offerings. He played an immense in what we did in terms of planning for the weekend. His suggestions included restaurants, sight seeing, neighborhood hot spots and more. I always found him very friendly and caring.

He communicated quickly and professionally whenever I had a question all the way up through the tour. I found the company in general really provides a lot of options, can accommodate allergies and sensitivities and also can double as a history / neighborhood overview as you explore with both your taste buds and feet. You can tell he truly enjoys his role providing experiences that are authentic in the city. It definitely shows not only in the website but the tour options, inclusions, and reputation.

On our particular tour, we were hosted by Maria Antonia who I found to be super friendly, engaging and highly knowledgeable. She was very interactive with our group of 9 and you could tell she had great passion for the city and her job in general. There was a little confusion with my requests for the tour which required some last minute changes on her part. She handled all changes and requests quickly and without a hitch all while balancing the wants and needs of the other guests. I couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon filled with walking the beautiful SF streets and exploring Hayes Valley. I could’ve easily spent the rest of the day there but a dinner suggestion per Ahmet was calling.

I want to give a huge thank you to them both for an amazing 360 experience. I plan to return to SF next summer and will be booking the Alamo Square or Russian Hill tour. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting SF. I especially recommend to corporate travelers, bachelorettes, and fun friend / family weekends as it’s such a fun creative activity for groups.

Must do in San Francisco!
My wife and I went on the Hayes Valley tour on a Sunday with our 10 year old. Ahmet the owner was our guide and we had a fantastic time! He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and took us to some great stops. We had a light breakfast and got enough food to skip dinner. The walking was just right and the stops were spaced out perfectly. The variety was very well thought out and you could tell our guide was very passionate about what he does. We will definitely be back to try out some of his other tours and will definitely recommend to others visiting San Francisco! Thanks Ahmet for a great time!

Really Great Carby Tour!
Sep 2019 • Friends
Enjoyed this tour. Food was really nice & they did a nice job to minimize the garlic (which was in nearly everything) to trace amounts, which I appreciated (allergy). However...note that this tour is quite meaty so for us non-mammal eaters, it left little options. I thought I told them this up front, but apparently, the focus was on the garlic allergy. I removed the meat from things (or bypassed it in the dishes altogether), which worked just fine. Loved the wine tasting & specialty chocolate shop (Christopher Elbow?) w/ fancy PAINTED chocolates (see photo). Our leader was very nice, gave us neighborhood history/tidbits, recommended other restaurant options in addition to our 7 stops. We loved that because it gives us all kinds of ideas for this neighborhood. BART stop is Civic Center (Market @ 7th), then a 15min hoof to Patricia Green (Octavia/Fell) to meet tour. Thankfully, our leader found us there becuz we never would have found him in the crowd...it was the bi-annual street fair day! Very worth the time, wear comfortable shoes (walk ~2mi?) & if not a meat eater, have a protein shake first cuz there’s lots of carbs on this tour!
Loved it & we tipped him accordingly.

Incredible tour with Nicole
Sep 2019
Our group met in the exact place as described, and by group I mean it was just me, a couple from Austin, and our guide. I really liked the small group experience as we all got to know each other well. Nicole is a local that can tell you all about Hayes Valley and SF in general, she's awesome! Food was delicious, unique, and diverse in offerings. Highly recommend!

Such A Good Way to Spend a Few Hours
Traveling solo on business and having lived in SF, I booked the Hayes Valley Tour as a way to enjoy a few extra hours in the city in a fresh way. Maria Antonia took myself and another family out for some amazing food. By far the most food I've ever had on a good tour. All the food was delicious, authentic, and diverse. Maria Antonia was very knowledgeable and a great guide. I'd love to do more Gourmet Walks tours.

Great time, Great Food
Jul 2019 • Business
We were a fairly large group with half of us being locals. We were still surprised by some of the places we were able to visit. Our group was split into 2 for the first 2 stops and then came back together for the rest so that was a nice surprise, given our size, that we weren't completely separate the whole time. It was a good range and sampling of food and treats with interesting history sprinkled throughout. Everyone was full by the end of the tour. Would definitely rebook for another tour.

Fantastic and memorable
Mar 2019 • Business
Gourmet Walks hosted a fantastic and memorable experience. Nicole is very knowledgeable, charming and provided fun-facts about the Hayes Valley neighborhood. It was easy to coordinate a team event and modify the tastings and timing for our team’s needs. The food at each location was exquisite and superb.
