What a great experience I enjoy every single bit of this experience!! The guide was super friendly! Planning already my next time!

It's not everyday that you can horse ride in this magnificent scenario, and it's not every day that you can do it with one of the world's best horse riders in the world, Lorenço ( national champ and member of the world's third best team, Abu Dabi). But the best of my experience was not that, it was the warmth and simplicity of Lorenço and his team. Going to Paris and not visit the Eiffel tower? The same with Melides and Lourenço's experience. We booked this tour over a month in advance and travelled 2 hours each way from Peniche with our two boys aged 7 and 10. We wanted to make a big day of it as it was our son's birthday the day before, so we organized the package with photos and drone. The weather was wonderful, so we had high expectations - especially given the excellent reviews. First I'll say that our guide Lola was great. We have no complaints about her at all. We were, however, disappointed with several other aspects. The photos and drone were not organised. Lola seemed confused that we had ordered this, so we assume it was forgotten. Lola kindly took some photos with my phone, but it wasn't the same. We had no notification in advance at all. It should also be noted that the majority of the route is not on the beach. I think only about 10-15 minutes of a 1.5 hour tour was on the beach, which was, however, magnificent. It is a pity that after such a long ride we were not at the beach very long. Both our boys commented on this. There were also some issues. One horse bolted with my 10 year old up over the sand dunes (luckily he was able to keep his seat but Lola had to help bring the horse back to the beach), the horse I was riding was spooked by a sudden wave and threw me off (luckily I was unhurt), and my husband had trouble keeping his horse calm and it made enjoying the beach ride hard for him. The horses were calm again when they left the beach. They were so keen to leave I could not have stopped mine without great effort. Do they dislike the beach? We discussed it afterwards and we think that the tour might be better for slightly more advanced riders (we are beginners and have only done a few other 1-2 hour guided treks while our boys have been to a riding camp recently) or perhaps the beach part done differently (not sure how though). Helmets were optional, so we also suggest that you wear one. When we got back we called Lourenço to ask about the photos and he said that the photographer was sick. If so, then we assume that he knew in advance and could have informed us. The apology was not very convincing. Also good to note that there is no facilities (toilets) at the meeting point, but there are facilities and restaurants 5 mins down the road at the beach. You also need to pay in cash or by bank transfer (which we didn't know in advance). It is a fantastic location, but it unfortunately didn't meet our expectations.

Amazing experience, trained and kind horses and an amazing and experienced guide who would kindly show us the best places in the area. Totally recommend !!!

We had a really nice experience with the team and the horses of Horses by the beach. The staff are friendly and professional and the horses are peaceful and sweet. We enjoyed our tour in the evening with the view of the sunset on the ocean !

Great experience!!!! Definitely going to repeat!!!!!! Made for a wonderful birthday surprise, and already thinking about offering to family for Christmas!!!!
