- juliamI9527AK0 contributionsOverpriced and DisappointingThe two locations we went to were okay, but we could have gone to them without the tour guide. Tastings at one spot ($10 per couple retail?), two cocktails and a tasting at a second spot ($25 per couple retail?) = $35 retail value for a $98 experience! Ridiculous. We won’t book again.Written 3 January 2024

- cthemome0 contributionsShine & WineWe had a great time on this tour. Jen is a terrific tour guide. There were 4 couples who didn’t know each we all had so much fun together. We tasted a lot & I mean a lot of moonshine. Trey at Sugarland moonshine made the tasting fun so did the manager at Tennessee Moonshine. There we also tasted bourbon & whiskey. Most of the wine is too sweet for me, but we had fun at the winery.Written 18 June 2023
- travelmomof50 contributionsWhat a fun night! Thank you Jen!Wow what a fun night! Jen really goes out of her way to make each stop so fun and interesting! This is a must do while in Gatlinburg! My favorite stop was Tennessee Shine because Bam Bam the bartender was so so funny!! Jen is a professional with what she does but also makes the trip funny and light hearted. She’s the perfect balance! Each place we visited welcomed us like VIP guests and we were able to try many different variations of moonshine and wine. This was so fun I will do it again next time I am in town. Thank you Jen for making my birthday trip so perfect!Written 9 June 2023

Jen was a very nice tour guide and the tasting staff were also very informative. Lunch was average and I'm very glad they offered it as part of the tour because you do taste a lot of liquor.
My only exception to this tour is the price. Everywhere in this area there are FREE moonshine/wine/whiskey tastings. Sure, you may not get the personal attention of the tasting room guide who talks you through everything, but it's also FREE.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tastings and we did buy some bottles to bring home. I just think the price of this tour is too high considering we could have just gone to a tasting room and tasted shine for free.

I went on this tour with my husband for our 25th wedding anniversary. Although the hosts of the tour were friendly, we were driven to two moonshine distilleries within one mile of where we parked our truck. For the price we could of gone to both of these distilleries on our own and gotten free tastings every place advertised. We expected the tour to showcase lesser known distilleries and not ones located in a strip mall next to outlet stores and mini golf. Even if a group of people didn’t want to drive, finding a taxi would still come out to a lesser price. My meal was incorrect and switched with another person. We also felt that half of the time we were waiting around so others could purchase items and were reminded how often we could buy items.

Thank you for doing our experience. You actually can’t do the tasting we did at our first stop on your own. It is specific to our tour and ours only. If you come in off the street you can sample 3 for free and then there would be a charge to sample 5 more. We do approximately 20 at our first stop alone. In addition to “tasting” our hosts make little cocktails for you. This is also something that is specific to our experience. You are walking into a business open to the public but the public cannot do this. If you are not buying anything I could see how you could spend some time waiting. Most people end up purchasing a ton as many of the reviews say since the distilleries are small family owned and I think their products are superior to the larger distilleries. I’m also proud that we get special discounts at our stops that they do for our group only. Of course if you didn’t purchase anything this would not be a value to you.
Our other moonshine stop we also get double the amount of tastes you can get if you just walked in on your own. We also get the specific benefit of trying anything you’d like if your interested in it and not being limited to 6. All of the distilleries and wineries in our area are going to be in some sort of plaza. If you want a stand alone distillery you have to go outside of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
I’m actually really proud of the price and we are one of the only ones that didn’t raise prices due to inflation. Over 50% of what you pay goes directly to our cost for your meal and tastings (they are not free). 15% goes to taxes and fees and the booking platform gets 15%. So your hosts provide the transportation, connections, their time, and everything else for the remaining 20%.

We had such a great time out on the tour. Jenn was super nice and her relationship with the vendors adds the extra pizazz to all your tastings. The wines are super sweet in Tennessee so if that’s not your thing I would still tell you to try them because it’s like dessert after lunch! If you could find a large enough group to occupy the entire tour it would be perfect! Try it for a bachelorette outing for sure!! As an extrovert I struggles with a lot of introverts in our group since I like to talk and make jokes but I still had a great time with our tasting specialists.

This was our second tour with Smoky Tours for the Wine Me, Shine Me and Dine Me tour. Jen provided a thorough overview of what to expect for the day and we were off to Junction 35 to be entertained, informed and provided samples of their quality products by Mama Missy! Her upbeat, informative presentation was an absolute treat! Not only do you sample various moonshine, tequila, bourbon and whiskey but she provides samples of a mixed drink using that specific product. Lunch was delicious as was the black cherry whiskey Old Fashioned with chocolate bitters with a cherry whiskey infused cherry. Our next stop at Tennessee Shine included a sampling of various wines from sweet to dry. Then over to see Biscuit for another round of ‘shine’ tastin! Biscuit was an absolute hoot! Informative and accommodating while keeping us laughing throughout the tasting. He also took the time to show us the on-site still and explain how it functioned - allegedly😜!
This is a great tour for couples and groups. Well done Jen!

The first stop to Junction 35 was great. The bartender was entertaining and the food for lunch was great. The second stop at some tiny wine place was just meh. I don’t think anyone bought anything there. The third spot was ok, but I thought we were suppose to get a tour and history lesson on shine and that didn’t happen either. The host of the tour was nice but I wouldn’t call her entertaining. She really didn’t say much. It was an enjoyable 4 hours but I’m not sure if I would pay that much money again for what essentially was a driver to places with free tastings and lunch.

Smoky Tours' Wine, Dine and Shine tour was the highlight of our trip! Jennifer and Michael were incredibly warm and welcoming from the beginning, and are truly dedicated in giving everyone on their tour a local, authentic experience. While it probably doesn't sound like much when I tell you we only had two stops on the tour, we had to have tried over 30 different kinds of moonshine and whisky, and 8 or so wines. At the first stop, Junction 35, the bartender was already set up with tasting cups the moment the business opened. It's clear that Michael and Jennifer are personal friends with the staff there, and they really hooked us up! The lunch at Junction 35 was delicious as well, and they had great gluten free bread. At the second stop, Tennessee Shine, we even got to go behind the scenes and talk to the head distiller and learn more about the making of moonshine. Overall, 10/10 recommend. We'll do this again next time we are in the area!

My wife and I did this tour on our honeymoon and it was a blast! Mike and Jenn are great hosts. There were generous tasting menus offered at both locations, along with a great lunch at Junction 35. Both venues also offered us discounts on our purchases since we were on this tour. A truly fun time and a great way to (safely) get in multiple spirit and wine tastings. Would book this tour (or any other tour with Smoky Tours) again!

This is a simply amazing tour! A MUST DO! For those reviews saying that the price is too high and you can get these tastings for “free,” they are WRONG! At Junction 35, you get no less than twice the tastings you would get walking in off the street. In addition to that, they give you a tasting of their signature cocktail made with that spirit. You also get lunch there, which you would not get at a “free” tasting (what’s a free tasting? Every single tasting I did down in Gatlinburg this weekend cost me at least five dollars, plus tip). You then move on to another establishment (yes, it is just down the road…but sooo? Less time in traffic!) for two more tastings. Mike and Jenn take all care of all of your packages as you make purchases, and you get discounts on merchandise and bottles at the distilleries by being with this tour. It is an excellent time and a great value! Just did it for the 3rd time and plan to do it again in December when we head back down for the Christmas parade weekend! Thanks Mike and Jen!

We had a blast on this tour! You get to try a ton of spirits and wine. Be sure to eat something before you go. There is a lot to sample! You also get a hot meal during the tour. Our hosts gave us a courtesy call in advance to see if we wanted to reschedule due to the rain. That wasn't an option for us since we were leaving the next day. Everything was indoors, so that wasn't a worry. Also, notice that this tour booking is nonrefundable. Had I paid attention to that little fact, I may have waited to book a week out, cause you just never know. Nonetheless, it worked out perfectly! I highly recommend this little adventure of tastings and meeting fellow travelers.

This tour was great and disregard the “oh we could have done ourselves for cheaper” reviews. We are seasoned drinkers so we had no problem going on empty stomach. However, a light breakfast for a lightweight would be essential. (Light people) Mike and Jen are great. We even ran into them in Gatlinburg as they were doing a second tour and they paid for us for premium tasting for free. (So sweet) This is a must do as you meet locals and other visitors. Both locations we went to we made purchases. Tour is not too long so we had ample time to enjoy Anakeesta, strip at Gatlinburg, and head back to hotel for live music and more drinks.

We did our tour on a Wednesday and had to meet up for 10am. Not sure about the weekend times. I would like to think same time but they do more then one tour a day. It depends on booking i believe.
I have a trip booked September 17th for 7 people. It is now full. Is there anyway to add 2 additional people?

We have a group of 6. Because we don’t have 8, if two other guests don’t sign up by our tour date, does that mean our tour is automatically cancelled?
