About
The Columbia Gorge NSA features waterfalls, mountains, monoliths, terraces, resort towns, vineyards, orchards, and The River, harboring a plethora of fish and birds, and unique plants and invertebrates. In the early 1900s, Portlanders would drive their Model T cars along the Columbia River Highway to gaze at waterfalls. There is said to be over 4000 waterfalls; many are hidden away, but many are just a short hike off the Historic Highway. On this afternoon half-day tour you'll make new friends while exploring "waterfall alley", including views of the Vista House and a stop at Multnomah Falls, the tallest waterfall in Oregon and most visited site in the Pacific Northwest. Your expert guide will teach you about the natural history, cultural history, and wine background of the area, as you drive the Historic Columbia River Highway Scenic Byway. You'll continue on to stop at a vineyard in the Columbia Gorge American Viticultural Area (AVA). Tasting fees included.

- christinamQ2733KP0 contributionsBest tour ever!!!My husband and I booked a private tour to see the falls and two wineries and it was worth every penny. Sam was our guide, he was very knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable from the start. We changed things up by going to an extra fall and only one winery, but the outdoors is so worth it. Sam also took us to some local shops and a cute donut shop that had the best Applesauce donuts, it was the first time I tried that flavor, and they were delicious. I’m so happy we booked this tour. It was all day and we got to see so much. Lunch is included. We had a delicious lunch at the winery, the scenery was beautiful and the wines were good. Oregon is beautiful! If you are thinking of booking a tour, do it, you will not regret!Written 13 November 2023
- Goophygirl0 contributionsThe Perfect Experience!!This was THE perfect tour!! I am so thankful I found this tour through Terran Travels while searching in TripAdvisor! My friend and I booked this tour to do during a weekend in Portland for our 50th birthdays. To start with, they were great with the communication. The night beforehand, I received a text from the owner, telling me what time I should meet the shuttle the next morning. Then, the next morning, we discovered there was going to be a marathon right outside our hotel, closing the street we were supposed to meet the shuttle on so when I texted the owner, we were able to figure out a street a block away to meet at. Our driver Dean showed up there and picked us up. Our tour only had 4 other people on it, so it was a nice, small size. Dean was fabulous. He knew all about the history of the area and also told us a little about his history as well-- he's a fascinating person! His delivery of the tons of information he gave us as we drove was perfect- delivered in an interesting, engaging way. We first went to go see Multnomah Falls, which I'd never seen before. Just gorgeous! We had a little time to hit the tourist store, which was great. Then we went to the first winery, Marchesi Vineyards. Very nice outdoor spot with a fire pit. The second winery was Grateful Vineyards, where we discovered a fall festival going on. I could tell Dean had not been aware of this but he handled the hiccup well and still got us a table and told us lunch was paid for. We had a delicious pear pizza, drizzled with balsamic vinegar. After the Grateful Vineyards, we drove to this cool spot near Mount Hood, where you can get out and see the moraine rocks that had been left behind by shifting glaciers years ago. The last stop was the Timberline Lodge, a cool ski area/hotel with lots of neat history. If you're researching winery tours in the Portland area, I highly recommend this group! It's much more reasonably priced than the other options out there and well worth more!Written 7 November 2023
