A memorable tour with my sweetie!
A memorable experience with my sweetie!! We are locals and were looking for a fun activity to do, and this was just the right thing!! The tour guide is so knowledgeable, telling us so many fascinating tidbits about the tram area and Portland in general. Well worth getting up early for an experience we’ll be talking about for a long time!!

      Good view of Portland
Great cheap way for a quick Gondala (aerial tram !) ride . Only a few minutes long for $8.50 return it’s an easy way to get some aerial shots of Portland . The tram seems to be mostly for hospital employees because at the top , the way out goes straight into the hospital foyer ! So I went back down on the same tram …

      Fascinating!
I thoroughly enjoyed my walking tour with Nanci. She was a wealth of knowledge and clearly passionate about showing people around the city. The walk didn’t cover a huge area but the two hours went by really quickly as there was so much to see! I feel as though I have a better understanding of the history of Portland as well as the murals and artwork. Thanks for a fun, interesting and informative tour!

Fabulous couple of hours with Kelly and Sarah, exploring street Art. They were local and knowledgeable, and shared alot of the playfulness and 'weird' of Portland. A great insight in the industrial eastside or Mural area. THk you. from Sydney, Australia

Great trip with impressive Portland insights
On a foggy January day Sarah's tour truly made Portland shine. Her deep knowledge of city history along with humorous anecdotes about early residents was both impressive and a lot of fun. She tailored the trip based on our questions and interests. I would come back to Portland just to take another one of her tours!

Thumbs up to this walking tour!
The guide was very knowledgeable. The spots where we had coffee and/or chocolate were top notch. I have some mobility problems, which she took into consideration, making this a fabulous afternoon all around!

Bike tours are so fun — and easy for any age!
I was worried this tour would be more than my parents — in their 60s — could handle, worried it would be more riding than I wanted, but I had a blast and it was so easy! The guide and staff helped us get comfortable on pretty bikes that worked for us, the weather, while cold, was gorgeous and we just loved the slow pace, the plentiful stops & stories, and it was so fun seeing the city through the eyes of a true local (our guide kept seeing people she knew as we made our way around). It’s such a fun way to see a city, I will look out for bike tours in other cities too!

Warmed up with biking in chilly weather!
I am new to bike tours and was nervous about riding in the rainy season, but it was so wonderful! I loved the variety of things we saw and how easy the biking was. Riding across the bridges was such a fun way to see the city and I appreciated how the guide encouraged us to stop whenever we needed a photo. The approach to history was centered around art and culture and stories that took in Indigenous history and the history of the waterways and plants, so that was a thoughtful perspective. Stopping for donuts was awesome too! Thanks for my favorite new way to see a city!

      Immaculate vibes
It was a lovely ride around the east side of Portland. Sarah was thoughtful, knowledgeable, and a great guide. Her dog Bear was adorable and the food carts she chose were all bangers. It was just her and I on the day after Christmas so some carts were closed, but Sarah never made experience feel lacking and it was nice to hear about the histories of this charming town while snacking on good food. Highly recommend!

A great way to spend 2 hours and learn unusual things about Portland.
Kelly was an entertaining guide, we learnt a lot and spent the evening talking about it to the rest of the family who live here! Just the right length, not too much standing still and 2 Restroom breaks. Thanks Kelly.

      Great guide and great time!
Had a I had an excellent time on my tour with Kelly. She was a great guide, very knowledgable and very easy to talk to. It was just myself and one other guests, so it was nice and intimate and we had lots of chances to talk and laugh and get to know each other. Great way to see Portland through the eyes of someone artistic. Highly recommend.

      Excellent walking tour!
Our walking tour of Portland was great. Our guide was awesome. She was an excellent storyteller and did a fantastic job blending stories about Portland’s past and present, mixing in information about local architecture, urban planning and politics. We learned a ton in 2 hours.

      Stunning Hike
Edwin was a fantastic tour guide. He is hilarious and very knowledgeable. I love how small the groups are for the hikes. I hiked with the loveliest couple. The hike is stunning, you see so many beautiful waterfalls along the trail. We did 5 miles but if you let the guide know you want something shorter he can give you the best route. But the 5 miles is very doable and worth it. He gave the best route to see most of the waterfalls. Ed helped take pictures, gave fun facts about the trail and surrounding city, and made the journey nice and comfortable. I highly recommend this hiking tour.

      history of SE Portland spirits
I've been on several ghost walking tours and really enjoyed this one. The guide was passionate about both historical research and finding the stories of spirits in her neighborhood. I appreciated her focus on women's stories and the under-represented communities and immigrants.

Ana really gave us a good lay of the land and had answers to all of our questions. She made the tour easy for everyone, working around each person's individual wants. It started to rain at one point and she gave us the option of staying in the van, or hiking up in the rain, or looking from different vantage points whichever each person wanted. Very fun and informative.

We had such an amazing time on this tour! We saw 5 waterfalls in total and each one was beautiful in its unique way. Our tour guide, Sarah, was very knowledgeable about the area and knew all of the best spots to take us. We made memories (and took gorgeous photos) that will last a lifetime and we’ve already decided we want to go back! Highly recommend if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and experience some of Oregon’s natural beauty.

I had one day in PDX and wanted to see as much as I could. I signed up for the morning City tour (including the Pittock Mansion vista) with Carrie, and the afternoon Columbia River and Multnoma Falls tour with Edwin (and Bear). Both tours were fantastic - warm, knowledgeable and experienced tour guides and a well designed itinerary. It made my short stay in PDX thoroughly enjoyable and I would gladly recommend Around Portland to fellow tourists. Thanks Carrie, Ed and Bear!

The tour was wonderful from beginning to end, largely due to our guide/driver Carrie. Also, we had a pleasant mix of visitors from young (20's) to boomers; fortunately, we were all good walkers. Carrietook us to 4 of the most well-known waterfalls and described how they're classified; we had short and easy hikes for the last two. Just being knowledgeable about the history, geology and local culture isn't enough to be a guide; one also has to be interpersonally adept and a bit of a "mother" in shepherding the flock but doing so gently. Carrie was a perfect guide in all those ways. Plus, she's a safe driver, navigating two lane roads carefully while providing a running narrative. I found her story about the Latourell family with 8 children who became entertainers fascinating! Also, you can ask her for suggestions of restaurants and eateries. She's a fountain of recommendations.

[UPDATE] This is my 3rd attempt to post this review. My first two times, the owner reported and took down the negative review, to ensure only the handful of positive reviews remain and they can create the façade. I did manage to post my review on GMaps and the owner posted a very nasty comment below my review, suggesting that as a solo male traveler, my intention of the tour was romantic connections and not to go see the Columbia river gorge

I went to the Half Day Columbia River tour on last Sunday. I was initially with one tour guide but was soon moved to another. The durations of each stop is very short, which means we get to barely spend any time at the location while our rude guide makes comments to the rest of the group, regarding tardiness. The idea seems to be that the stops are simply to show a glimpse of the location and anyone who is interested, should do their own separate trip.

And the worst part was the 15mins guilt tripping by the tour guide during the return journey for tips. It was uncomfortably and cringe to sit through her explaining how we should tip her

You have now posted six reviews to multiple sites under different names over the past three weeks, slightly changing your comments each time, so it’s clear we hurt your feelings by asking you to come back to the van at one spot when the other guests had completed their visit and you were still taking photos. We’re sorry about that. We requested that your review be removed because it was confusing, with a headline “perfect for retired travelers!” and a two star rating. I now understand this was sarcasm, that you are not a fan of this one particular guide, or her priority of the retired guests’ needs. I apologize that she rushed you. We will certainly not do that again. Your review was confusing, and it’s my mistake to have thought it was because you might have been upset about having left the van with some other solo travelers. I now know you are only upset at being rushed. Apologies for having guessed otherwise. The guide you chose has never once asked for tips, while many of our guides mention that they take tips, she does not, so maybe in your emotions you are confusing some parts of the story with another experience.

Carrie was an awesome tour guide! She was conscientious of each attendee & made sure that we all were comfortable. Her passion for Oregon is amazing & she was able to provide all sorts of details for the entire drive, not just for the tour specifics. Her knowledge is vast & diverse & provided us with a fun experience! The gorge & falls were simply beautiful.

For the tour it was my brother & I in our mid/late 40s and our 81 y/o mom whose birthday we celebrated that day. The who was with you option does not include an option for family/adults only.

From booking on the phone with Sarah, to the end of our tour we were pleased with the whole experience. This tour was a perfect combo of driving and walking. We had great views of 3 waterfalls, the Columbia River Gorge and some surrounding highlights along the way. Our tour guide (Ana) was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the areas, pointed out significant flora and fauna, and knew good places to eat in Portland as well. She has a lovely voice that's easy to listen to and she's quite articulate, entertaining, and friendly. She drove very well and gave clear instructions and really made the tour special. Would definitely book another tour and would ask for Ana!

Carrie was nothing like that scary character. She brought us to 4 different waterfalls, brought a ton of insight and knowledge about the area and the wildlife around it. Carrie was a delight and I highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

I took this afternoon waterfall excursion as I had time in my schedule. It was very convenient starting at 2 PM. The tour guide, Mel, was excellent. we rode in a small van, our group was just 10 people, and she commentated the trip thoroughly. We stopped at various locations and waterfalls throughout the Columbia Gorge area. At each stop you could take pictures, hike to get a better view of the waterfall, or just relax and enjoy the view.
