- christinamQ2733KP0 contributionsBest tour ever!!!My husband and I booked a private tour to see the falls and two wineries and it was worth every penny. Sam was our guide, he was very knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable from the start. We changed things up by going to an extra fall and only one winery, but the outdoors is so worth it. Sam also took us to some local shops and a cute donut shop that had the best Applesauce donuts, it was the first time I tried that flavor, and they were delicious. I’m so happy we booked this tour. It was all day and we got to see so much. Lunch is included. We had a delicious lunch at the winery, the scenery was beautiful and the wines were good. Oregon is beautiful! If you are thinking of booking a tour, do it, you will not regret!Written 13 November 2023
- Goophygirl0 contributionsThe Perfect Experience!!This was THE perfect tour!! I am so thankful I found this tour through Terran Travels while searching in TripAdvisor! My friend and I booked this tour to do during a weekend in Portland for our 50th birthdays. To start with, they were great with the communication. The night beforehand, I received a text from the owner, telling me what time I should meet the shuttle the next morning. Then, the next morning, we discovered there was going to be a marathon right outside our hotel, closing the street we were supposed to meet the shuttle on so when I texted the owner, we were able to figure out a street a block away to meet at. Our driver Dean showed up there and picked us up. Our tour only had 4 other people on it, so it was a nice, small size. Dean was fabulous. He knew all about the history of the area and also told us a little about his history as well-- he's a fascinating person! His delivery of the tons of information he gave us as we drove was perfect- delivered in an interesting, engaging way. We first went to go see Multnomah Falls, which I'd never seen before. Just gorgeous! We had a little time to hit the tourist store, which was great. Then we went to the first winery, Marchesi Vineyards. Very nice outdoor spot with a fire pit. The second winery was Grateful Vineyards, where we discovered a fall festival going on. I could tell Dean had not been aware of this but he handled the hiccup well and still got us a table and told us lunch was paid for. We had a delicious pear pizza, drizzled with balsamic vinegar. After the Grateful Vineyards, we drove to this cool spot near Mount Hood, where you can get out and see the moraine rocks that had been left behind by shifting glaciers years ago. The last stop was the Timberline Lodge, a cool ski area/hotel with lots of neat history. If you're researching winery tours in the Portland area, I highly recommend this group! It's much more reasonably priced than the other options out there and well worth more!Written 7 November 2023

Poor description. Website is intentionally vague re “wine tasting” which you pay for it yourself. “Lunch” is a sandwich from a food cart. Lots of wasted time. Our guide Damon was good but too chatty. After 8 hours non stop talking it gets tiresome. Most disturbing is the owner Marcus. He texted that we would be picked up at a certain hotel ( thought we’d be picked up at ours). When I wrote back to him a told him where we were staying his response was a terse “ it’s a six minute walk”. No concern if we were elderly or disabled. As an international traveler we have experienced much better tours.

I'm sorry your expectations were not met. Most people who book this tour love the lunch, and are quite happy with Damon. We state in the description that we do not cover tasting fees, and that we do not guarantee hotel pickup, so perhaps you did not read it? I'm always happy to change the pickup location if someone informs me that they have mobility issues.

It was a disappointing trip. We were to have four scheduled stops. The driver left two people who attempted to board and they were told to get on a different bus. She left the group at the first stop and had to go back to pick them up setting the rest of the group behind by 1.5 hours. She decided to "make it up to" us by adding extra stops adding two hours to the trip. The wine tasting stops were nice. The first was to include lunch. We were to order while on the bus, text her so she could order the food in advance so it was ready for the eleven passengers. It took the venue 35 minutes to serve 11 people. The most shocking was our guide sampling our left over food. Nice lady but a bit peculiar of an experience. No snacks and one bottle of water. Over priced for the experience.

Patrick, I hate to say it, but your family was a big part of the problem. Your daughters' tardiness and your propensity for changing pickup locations at the last minute between dispatch and Hotel Eastlund caused the guide to become confused over who she was picking you at Hotel Eastlund, hence the guest being left behind. This is the first time that's happened on one of our tours. Everybody is understaffed these days, so food takes longer, especially when its custom made, from scratch, at a food cart, on a farm. I'm sorry the guide was sampling your food...that was uncouth, and I'll have a talk with her about that. She is normally very conscientious about providing the guests with lots of snacks and water, so she may have been flustered by the attitude of your daughters. These small-group tours are expensive to run on the West Coast, especially when lunch is included. I suggest, in the future, you book a coach tour, or go to Latin America.

Our biggest problem with this trip is that we felt it falsely advertised what it was meant to be. We thought it was a driving tour of natural sights, with stops at waterfalls/views/tourist areas. The wineries would be a fun bonus. Instead, we spent almost 4 hours at two wineries, and only 1 hour total for two sights.
We did not get three hours (as was advertised) at the gorge scenic spot, we didn’t stop there at all. Out of our group of four, only two of us wanted to do a tasting, and were reluctant to do a second tasting right after the first. (The wineries were 3 minutes apart on the road.) We feel the two visits could have been spaced out at least.
If you want a winery tour, then this trip is for you. But if you want a tour of the gorge sights, this trip is not for you. We appreciated that the driver stopped at the local Zig Zag falls at the end of our trip, but we had to ask if we could see one more sight for that to happen.

The first 3 stops are all located within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, which means you spent approximately 4 hours and 10 minutes in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. You also spent 30 minutes at Multnomah Falls, 3 hours in the Mt. Hood National Forest (exceeding the minimum of 2 hours), 1 hour at Timberline Lodge (exceeding the minimum of 30 minutes), and you did a bonus stop at Little ZigZag Falls, where you hiked for 40 minutes. You passed by every landmark that is listed on our Viator page for this tour, as the guide followed the standard route. Furthermore, longer-duration stops were made at 2 wineries, as described on our Viator page, and lunch was provided for you, as advertised.

If you ever in Portland and you want to have a nice overview of the city and mountains, combined with wine and cider tasting- you can’t find a better place. A tour will take you through the best points of interest, connecting with nature and waterfalls. You get to have the best experience on wine tasting, local Oregon wineries are considered to be the best in the world.
Out tour guide Dean was the most knowledgeable person, being able to accommodate everyone’s needs and giving us a very detailed tour on the way.
Couldn’t ask for a better service! Next time I’m in Portland I’ll be booking through the same agency!

Just an overall perfect day and tour. Damon was an awesome tour guide and a fount of knowledge. Not only did he give great factual information about the history and landscape, but fascinating stories about the legendary folklore of the area. One of the wineries was ok (a little too "snooty" for me), but the second winery stop was just plain fun and super good and reasonably priced wine. They even had llamas in the back yard. The scenery leading up to Mount Hood was beautiful and for this Florida girl, being in a snow storm and going to Timberlake Lodge in over a foot of snow, made the day. Can't wait to get back to the Portland area and do another tour with them.

This was such a great way to see the beautiful surrounds of Portland and my daughter (20s) and I enjoyed every minute. Our guide was Sher and she was personable and knowledgeable about the area. We had hoped to come away with a deeper understanding of this area, and Sher definitely facilitated that. She also did a great job of ushering us from location to location in an unhurried but timely manner. This kept us on track and we really got to do and see a lot. Both wineries were delightful, our group was great together (we had 7 in total) and Sher helped us to get to know each other. The food was tasty for lunch, and water and snacks were available. All in all, this was a really well spent day and it felt like we got so much from the whole experience. Thanks so much!

It was a fun trip with beautiful things to see and great weather. Definitely worth doing the trip. Brittany was wonderful and she made the trip really fun and even made a playlist of everyone’s favorite songs to listen to in the car. She’s easy to talk to and I would recommend her trip for sure!

The trip actually exceeded my expectations. We had a small group, all meeting for the first time. It was relaxing being able to enjoy the beautiful drive to and around the Mt. Hood area. It was a perfect mix of waterfalls, where we had ample opportunity to walk to and around the falls. The 2 wineries were very nice and relaxing, with great flights. Lunch (food cost included with trip) at the 2nd winery was very good. I had a beefsteak sandwich and macaroni salad that was delicious and filling (I really don't understand the one review that spoke negatively of this. Not my experience). The time at Timberline Lodge allowed us to play in the snow, explore the Lodge and enjoy a drink on the patio.
Brittany was so nice and accommodating as our guide and driver
Marcus was quick to respond to questions and inform about pickup time at my downtown hotel. This was the perfect way to see this area and made for a wonderful, memorable day. Great value for all that is included.

I gave this a 5 star rating even though we had vehicle issues and the trip was cut short. We did not make it to Mnt Hood. However— we did see the falls and we made it to the two wineries including lunch. We didn’t break down until we were headed up to Mnt Hood. Our tour guide— Damon— was so excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Oregon and a variety of other topics. He was also very hospitable, making sure everyone was comfortable and safe. He handled the vehicle breakdown with such grace and calm. The owner, Marcus, compensated us fairly as well. I would absolutely take this trip again and use the same service.

Our tour guide Marcus was full of knowledge about all things Portland, nature, waterfalls and wine! The day started with a stop at Multnomah falls and sped by with well planned/timed spots along the way. My choice of the charcuterie lunch paired v well with the delicious wine tasting. My son and husband were extremely pleased with their choice of a big steak sub each. An extra stop at a lovely fruit stand was added where we had a picture perfect view of Mt Hood. The van was very comfortable too!
