About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- dshardin0 contributionsGreat DayWe had a great informative day tour. Learned so much about salmon, history of the area and the building of the lodge at Mt Hood. Shipped some jam home from fruit stand we stopped out so still enjoying the fruits of our trip. Fully recommend this tour.Written 26 September 2024

- 65lorid0 contributionsOutstanding!Absolutely outstanding tour! I highly recommend. Josh was a fantastic host and took us to all of the best spots and let us explore at our leisure. Also gave us great recommendations for restaurants back in Portland. Would definitely use them again. The level of communication and customer service was phenomenal!Written 18 July 2024

- mariekP2563QX0 contributionsExcellent wine tour with ShahnThis was our first tour with Sea to Summit, and my husband and I had a wonderful and educational experience with the Williamette Valley Wine tour. We're from California and often visit wineries and take tours, but this one was the best by far. Our tour guide, Shahn, a 2nd level sommelier and grew up in the Willamette Valley, was incredibly knowledgeable about wines and local history. We learned about the rich soils and winemaking history of the Willamette Valley, as well as its present and future. The valley's soil is unique due to ancient volcanic activity and the Missoula Floods, which brought mineral-rich sediments that are perfect for viticulture. These elements create an ideal terroir for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and other grape varieties, giving the wines distinct flavors and complexity. Shahn also shared insights into the evolution of winemaking in the region, from its early days to its current status as a world-renowned wine-producing area. We discussed the innovative techniques being used by local winemakers to enhance the quality of their wines and the sustainable practices being adopted to preserve the environment. Looking to the future, Shahn highlighted the potential for new grape varieties to be introduced and the continued growth of boutique wineries that focus on small-batch, high-quality production. We visited three wineries: Rex Hill/A to Z, Torii Mor, and Tresori. Shahn brought lunch from the Red Hill Market, which we enjoyed at Torii Mor during our wine tasting.Rex Hill is a large winery with delicious Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Torii Mor's Pinots were a bit too young, but their Viognier port wine was good. Tresori, a small "micro" winery on the slopes of Chehalem Ridge, was peaceful and beautiful. Although the wine steward at each winery explained the wines, Shahn added even more insights. We ended up joining Rex Hill and Tresori wine club. The Mercedes 4x4 van was comfortable, making the tour even more enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Thank you, Shahn.Written 10 June 2024
- Experience8012700 contributionsFalls TourMy friends and I loved our tour with Josh. His vehicle was so comfortable and he was so knowledgeable about the area. We would never have seen so many sights without his tour. Totally loved the fish hatchery. I highly recommend Sea to Summit.Written 4 June 2024
- jessicamL8825EQ0 contributionsFantastic Wine TourWhile attending a wedding in Portland for the weekend, we gathered with 8 family and friends to take a private wine tour with Sean as our guide. Communications prior, during, and after our tour were very clear and we were quickly responded to when we had questions before the tour. Joshua was very accommodating to all our requests and Sean assisted us with ordering lunch to be picked up between wineries. We were taken to 3 very different wineries where we felt we received the full experience the valley had to offer which included a large, medium, and small winery. Our group all found wines they loved throughout the day, the van was spacious and comfortable, the scenery was amazing, and Sean was very knowledgeable of the vineyards and valley’s history. It was the perfect ending to a fantastic weekend and we would highly recommend this very professional touring company.Written 18 November 2023
- 736aimeel0 contributionsGirls afternoon out WINING!My girlfriends and I took this tour, not knowing quite what to expect and Sean was great! So knowledgeable and taught us more than we had ever realized there is to wine making (as we are not as much experts at producing as we are drinking). He was so accommodating and friendly. Also helped us with other things to do around Portland and places to eat. Would definitely recommend this tour company and guide as owner Joshua is also wonderful to work with. - MargauxW4000 contributionsRidiculously good wine, excellent dealJosh and the entire Sea to Summit team were amazing! They coordinated our private tour for my birthday perfectly—our group had a few tricky schedules/specific needs and it wasn't a problem—and they made the whole experience ridiculously fun. Josh knows everyone at each winery and can find you the best deals, the wine was ridiculously good, I can't believe how much wine we got for the price. My friend booked another tour for her in-laws the next day—definitely recommend.Written 16 August 2023
- laurennR728HB0 contributionsExcellent wine tour with a knowledgeable guideExcellent tour from Shahn. He was an excellent driver and was knowledgeable about the surrounding area and the wines. He told us a lot of stories and kept the conversation going. He chose a great local place for lunch and we really appreciated him going back to get our lunch for us while we were at the second winery.Written 31 July 2023
- zandtp0 contributionsWe highly recommend this half-day Public Tour - Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls TourWonderful half-day tour (Public Tour - Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls Tour) with guide Joshua. We stopped at Chanticleer Viewpoint and Crown Point with the Vista House. Of course we also stopped at several waterfalls: Latourell Falls, Shepperd's Dell, Wahkeena Falls, Multnomah Falls and Horsetail Falls. We were given time to hike to Multnomah Falls via Wahkeena Falls. Then we stopped at a Fish hatchery and the Bonneville Dam with the Columbia River Salmon Ladders. Joshua was very helpful and informative. We highly recommend this half-day tour.Written 22 September 2022
- Jywanga0 contributionsCommunicative and ProfessionalI booked a tour on Viator (the Mt Hood/Gorge Tour) with Sea to Summit, and I had booked the wrong date by accident. Even though it was a no-refund tour and Viator was adamant that I would not be refunded any amount, I reached out to the company. Joshua worked on it for days with Viator to get my money refunded (over Labor Day Weekend, no less). He was super communicative, and I was on the phone with him. Sounded like a very honest and professional person. I would use them next time I'm in town and need someone to take us on a tour. Top notch service.Written 5 September 2022
- karltO5824JS0 contributionsBest Portland Private TourGreat, Awesome, Best. Booked a half day with Sean and learned so much - Geology, History, Botany, Hydrology, I could go on. Sean's deep knowledge and lifetime in and around Oregon added so much. Book this tour - you will be delighted.Written 14 July 2022
- Japmlp80 contributionsA great morningWe were traveling with 4 adults and 5 teenagers and everyone had a great time! Joshua was very knowledgeable about the area! It was so nice let someone else worry about driving and parking!! I highly recommend Sea to Summit!Written 21 June 2022
- Sandi H0 contributionsA must do tripOur host was absolutely phenomenal! He did a fantastic job of sharing Oregon history with us, making sure that we saw all the great waterfall sites and was so accommodating to the entire group. One thing I would suggest, is pack your snacks or lunch and bring it with you as lunch is not provided. He does provide water and snacks, umbrellas if needed and because I forgot my rain jacket, he pulled one from the back for me to use. JT truly cares about making sure his guest have a wonderful experience.Written 12 June 2022

We paid for this tour and received a message that the tour was cancelled the day before we were to take the tour. Trip Advisor has not refunded the $438.00 we paid and the vendor tells us that Trip Advisor has to refund our money. It has been almost 3 weeks and still we have not received our refund. Tour providers do not receive funds until 30 days after tours are completed….. we do not have your money and never had your money!
this is a trip advisor/viator issue….. however we will try to contact them on your behalf as a courtesy to try to rectify issues….. i would recommend doing the same
thanks for understanding
UPDATE:
after hours on the phone with Viator about this...
Viator/Trip Advisor Said:
That I need to email you agreeing to refund for the trip, since the trip did not happen and we never even received the funds and I agree for them to issue you refund…. Please send this to Viator to receive your refund and take down this negative review..... Its a viator/trip advisor issue that has to do with us as again we never received the funds and we have now done everything we can for you to get a refund....Viator please give this client their money back!
Sincerely
Joshua Blaize

Such a fun and relaxing day. We went to 3 different wineries that all had amazing service and a varied selection of wine. You got to sample 4-5 wines at each one which was a great value. Shaun gave us lots of great information about the area, history on the valley and recommendations for dinner, hikes etc. It was also great sitting and chatting with everyone in the group. I would very strongly recommend taking this tour if you want a great day in the valley!

We were a small group of 10: 4 friends in their 30s, a couple in their 30s, two solo folk in their 50s and a couple in their 60s with Shawn as the driver, guide, and all-knowing expert on many topics ( wine, the region, Oregon history, etc). It was a great day…we visited three vineyards of different sizes and were guided in the tastings by representatives at each. Shawn was helpful in laying out the day’s itinerary, facilitating the group buying lunch, providing boxes for us to take wine home ( he told us Alaska Airline has a “wine flies free“ program!) and then dropping us directly at the hotel with our box ( it was near the pickup place). He was great! We learned a lot about Oregon wineries, the soil, the history and of course developed a more refined palate! Highly recommend the tour.

What a wonderful day! Sean was an amazing wealth of knowledge doing
more than driving us from Portland to the wineries. We went to 3 wineries, never felt rushed or pressured to buy, but encouraged to support. Lunch was delicious, costs extra, and our other tour mates were great. Didn’t hurt that the weather was perfect. Worth every penny!

Called to book a different tour, and ended up on the Willamette Wine Tasting Tour. Glad it worked out that way. Nice, spacious Mercedes Sprinter van for six guests. Sean picked us up at Pioneer Square and regaled us with lots of geological and historical info about the area as we drove out. We visited 3 wineries - and would never have found 2 of the 3 if not for this tour. Excellent tasting flights at all three, and no pressure to buy, but we did anyway. Gorgeous scenery and great ambiance. You order your own lunch which is picked up on the road and eaten at one of the wineries. We never felt rushed, and would definitely do this same tour again, knowing we we’ll get introduced to more hidden gems of wineries in the valley.

Great trip! We visited three wineries. Our take-out lunch was also very good, and we enjoyed it at one of the wineries. Sean was very knowledgeable about history, geography, and told many stories about the region. I would happily do this tour again as the wineries can vary from tour to tour. Bring cash for gratuities for the winery staff as well as your guide.
