Overview

See Chicago's architecture from the best possible vantage point―a boat on the Chicago River―during this architecture-focused tour through the city's heart. Listen to your guide's in-depth commentary as you pass more than 50 significant sites, from Lake Point Tower to Navy Pier. Some onboard refreshments are included, with wine and beer available for purchase.

What to Expect

Make your way to the Lofts at River East on Ogden Slip in time to meet your departing architecture tour.

Step on board and find a comfortable seat as the boat sets out for a cruise on the north, south, and main branches of the Chicago River. As you travel, listen to your guide's commentary, which sheds light on the city's rich architectural history. You can also enjoy included refreshments of coffee, tea, soft drinks, and cookies. Beer and wine are available for purchase.

This tour showcases more than 50 important buildings in just a short time, which would take much longer if attempting to view by foot. Highlights include the John Hancock Building, Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower), Marina City, Tribune Tower, Wrigley Building, and NBC Tower.

Return to your departure point at the conclusion of your tour.

Informative, fascinating, and relaxing

Cruising the river and learning about Chicago's extraordinary buildings and skyscrapers was a very fun experience. Our guide provided interesting non-stop commentary, chock full of trivia and facts about famous designers, both current and from years gone by. I especially enjoyed the details, like designing...More

Always a great tour

The guides are always great----new stories each time you go on a tour. Be careful when it is really hot out------no shade during the mid-day time and if it is sunny it can be pretty uncomfortable. I should have planned better, but always enjoy this...More

Must Do!

This is a must do while in Chicago. It is very informational, and excellent for photography. The tour was longer, than we expected (about an hour long).

This was a fabulous cruise and well worth 90 minutes of your time. Our guide was incredibly informative about the five different styles of architecture. I don't know how she managed to talk that long without a break. The boat was extremely clean and the...More

I do believe they had mixed drinks, but not certain what all they offered. Maybe give them a call.

On the top desk you’re all in the sun, but on the bar and restroom level, it’s indoors, so you can stay out f the sun. You may not get as good a view of the buildings, but you won’t be in the sun.
