    Great time!
Fantastic. I have been watching the “behind the zoo” show and had to visit when we were in town. I’m totally impressed with the zoo and loved the experiences we added to our day. Highly recommended!

Any day is a zoo day is great!
Even on a cool day, the zoo is still a must-do! The prehistoric dinosaur exhibit has a bonus during our visit. Using the City Pass was easy, and so was the zoo app! The safari expedition is a great way to see Africa. Todd, the expedition assistant, made the trek adventurous and entertaining.

The Lowry Zoo is fun and a bit Old Fashioned
Great animals. A fun day. A bit overpriced for the one on one encounter with the Indian Rhino. Zoo heeds a face lift.

    Great zoo experience
It was a bit chilly going in January but we were still able to see most of the animals. It seemed the tortoises were the most reclusive and were hiding under the hay. The manatees were awesome and the primates were very active. We spent 4 hours and enjoyed it very much.

Overall Good experience but with incident
We went to the Christmas Wild in the Lights Dec 2 I took my 2 grandchildren. Park was beautiful lights everywhere. We saw many animals. They had several characters on stilts talking to the children. They were amazing . especially the princesses. We saw a fun song show and played a game of selecting crocodiles swimming in water and the number on their belly determined the prize. The young lady running this was fantastic and made it so much fun for the kids. The only problem we experienced was an small ice cream dots booth with stuffed animal's and toys and treats. My granddaughter selected a small ice cream treat marked on the freezer cooler as 7 dollars. I gave the young man a 20 and he gave back a ten dollar bill and two pennies . I told him my change was wrong , He said the ice cream was $8.99. I showed him where the freezer it came from said $7.00. He was very rude and I did get agitated. He asked me if I wanted to speak to managements and I said yes. He then told me to not let her eat the ice cream that she had taken the lid off of. Management was not able to come over and I walked away frustrated with this young mans rudeness. As I walked around corner to leave two managements were sitting at a table talking Had their walkie talkies . Disappointing they could not get up and walk a few steps to help solve a problem. Over all everyone their was fantastic but this incident and the way it was handled will make me think twice about going back again and taking my grandchildren

    Fun
Lovely zoo. Enjoyed the safari guided ride. Saw some interesting animals I never heard of before. Nice less than a full day visit.

    Great zoo!
There are volunteers throughout the zoo and John was at the upper manatee area on the day we were there. He was wonderful!!! Make sure to take the time for the Safari tour even though there may be a wait for it. Caroline was an awesome tour guide! We were able to see a month old baby rhino that wasn’t on exhibit yet. So tiny!!! The apes were active and entertaining. The app could use a little improvement, but has some good features so make sure you download it while planning your visit. City Pass is the way to go for admission if you’re visiting several places for several days. Make sure you book experiences in advance because they will sell out.

    Treasure in Tampa
What a treasure! My 4 year old granddaughter loved seeing the animals (that all looked very well cared for)! The zoo has a great layout. We watched several episodes of Secrets of the Zoo before our visit and were pleasantly surprised that some of the animals featured on the show were in their habitats!

A great way to spend an afternoon.
I lived in Tampa and never made it to the zoo. We are here visiting and went today. It was very nice. The animals were putting on a show for us. We had a great time and it was a wonderful afternoon.

    Zoo Love
My husband and I are annual pass holders. By having an annual pass it makes this zoo very affordable. Every time we visit we see new things depending on time of day and time of year. We find it fascinating to see their different behaviors at different times and different seasons. Our absolute favorite animals in the park are the Siamang monkeys. We have been fortunate enough to be there on days when they are showing off their athletic abilities swinging and singing, they are LOUD! The manatees are a very close second as they are near and dear to our hearts. I love that they have a manatee hospital to help recover sick and injured manatees and they do so with such enthusiasm. You get a lot out of talking to the staff that works with the animals. They love to answer our questions and we've learned so much. We have been to much larger zoos but we find that we enjoy this so much more. We can actually make it through the park in one day and see everything and they have so many new experiences every time we visit. Christmas time is probably most beautiful time to visit the zoo. We find it great to visit on cooler days and early in the day when the animals are more active. We love watching secrets of the zoo Tampa and we're actually learning many of the animals names and how they are trained so the veterinarians can properly care for them. There's not one single animal or reptile in that park that we don't enjoy seeing.

    Not worth it.
Not worth the price. It’s a smaller zoo compared to others, and at close to $100 admission for a couple just not worth it. I notice now tha many of the good reviews are from several years ago when admission was a lot less. It took about 3 1/2 hrs to see pretty much everything in the zoo. On a recent trip to NYC we went to the Bronx Zoo; admission was $10 less and you could see everything if you stayed a week. The zoo raised admission prices by $10 once they were on tv.

    Great zoo to visit!
Great zoo! We visited on a trip from Connecticut and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the zoo was. We could have spent hours relaxing in the manatee area watching them swim and listening to music! So many of the animals were active during our visit. We loved it and hopefully will be back next year.

This is a very nice zoo that's not too big or too small ... it's just about the right size. My wife and I appreciate what zoos do, and how most are self-funded, but the admissions price at this zoo is borderline ridiculous. We were visiting this part of Florida, and attending our nephew's wedding on the weekend, but when we arrived the day before our hotel room was not ready for check-in. We had roughly three hours to kill, so we decided to check out the Tampa Zoo. Even with our senior citizen discounts admissions for two of us ran $86.90! For a brief second I thought that must include a food or drink voucher, but no dice. This is essentially double what the larger Miami Zoo charges, yet it doesn't match what the Zoo Miami offers. Once inside on a very hot 90 degree day, we purchased a bottle water for $8, and with that our expenditures at the zoo came to an abrupt halt for the day. As far as exhibits go, the zoo is broken down into five regions, some larger than others. These include Africa, Asia, Florida, Wallaroo (Australia), and Primates. Each section has some nice exhibits, but what caught our attention centered more on what was missing. The Africa section has no lions (male or female), no cheetahs, no leopards ...no big cats period. The elephant, giraffe, and white rhino exhibits are very nice, but you can't interact with the giraffes here like you can at Zoo Miami. At least the Asia exhibit has a Malaysian Tiger and the impressive White Rhino. The Gharial exhibit was also quite interesting. Florida exhibit, of course had the Manatees along with alligators, flamingos, and a really nice Panther exhibit. But, Wallaroo was disappointing. Maybe we just caught the Koala's at nap time, but we could hardly see them through their glass exclosure. Finally, within the Primates section the Orangutans are definitely worth checking out, especially with the mothers and their little ones swinging about. Overall, we had a nice time and would have rated this zoo higher if not for the high prices. As we left, my wife wanted to check out the gift shop and possibly purchase a souvenir tee shirt. But, upon seeing the prices ($30) she changed her mind. We had already spent enough money here for one day!

Worth it -- enjoy a day of relaxing with the animals
Awesome! It was great to see the manatees up close and personal rather than trying to see them amongst the crowds at the power plant. Had never seen a Scarlett ibis (we see white ones daily). The park is easy to walk through. The larger animals, elephants and giraffes were too far away. Amazing aviaries with lots of varieties of birds.

My family (pre-teen, husband and I) had a memorable day here. We checked out the prices on Groupon and it was cheaper to purchase directly from the website. This allowed us to cut the ticket booth out and skip the line. The are in the process of switching from Halloween to Christmas along with doing construction but the layout was manageable! I was impressed with the amount of aviary stations that they had including a lot of exotic birds. The safari ride in the F550 was a little cheesy but interesting. I found ample amount of enrichment activities in all of the enclosures. Don't miss the fruit bats tucked away by the children's section and of course the manatee exhibit from below. We spent at least four hours and really enjoy all of the exhibits and animals. The layout was pretty simple with the spoke design. The only drawback was the schedule. It said there would be a macaw flyover. Multiple families were waiting and it never happened. After inquiring they said it was canceled due to construction. They should amend their schedule.

This zoo is too small for the amount of animals it has. Most enclosures were horribly small and dismal to say the best. The primates privacy areas were closed to them and the waterfalls were directed on the “paths” to their indoor area so the animals couldn’t even attempt to go inside. Every animal I saw looked absolutely miserable (exception was the baby primates). The enclosure for the elephants, zebra, and giraffe made me embarrassed that I even spent my money to encourage this place. I have been to several other zoos including, San Diego and Atlanta. This place should be closed and the animals should be sent to places where they can actually enjoy their “home”.

We seem to visit a lot of zoos and aquariums when on vacation. This was a very impressive one. Lots to see (albeit with a lot of advertising for upcharge options), very clean, and staff are knowledgeable. However, the layout is a bit confusing, and the map in the app (the only map I could seem to find) was completely useless. Admission seemed a bit steep. The primary complaint though, is the lack of solid food options, and the prices when you do find food. I'm not sure if the lack of food options is a pandemic issue, or an all the time thing, but I'd recommend finding a way to time your visit so that you can picnic in the parking lot before or after. But...we really did enjoy our visit, and we were very impressed with the zoo itself.

We went to ZooTampa in the off-season. It was a little colder than normal so some of the animals were not out for exhibition. They were still available to see, they were just inside. They had a lot of different things to see. We went on the wildlife adventure ride but was disappointed. We really couldn’t get a good look at any animals because of the fencing. We actually got a better look walking than the ride; and that was a long wait, even with few people in the park. I wouldn’t have tried if there were a lot of people inside the park.
The only food we got In The park was a Wendy’s Frosty from a stand and they were reasonably priced. We didn’t get souvenirs but I expect they would be average for souvenirs.
We were able to do the park in about 4-5 hours and I’m one that likes to read all the signs. The only minor negative is the layout wasn’t as simple as I have seen in the past. It didn’t flow as well as other parks but it wasn’t bad.

We were in Tampa for a couple of days and decided to visit ZooTampa as we are members of the Jacksonville Zoo. ZooTampa does give half off to members of other zoos which was nice. We found the zoo to be quite nice we went on a Saturday and it wasnt crazy busy as typically Jacksonville zoo is. There are a really good number of exhibits and the animals seemed to have a good amount of area to move around in. The aquatic exhibit was really nice and they did a really good job being able to see the manatees. All the animals seemed well cared for and happy. I would also note that all the rides are included in the price of your ticket( you have to upgrade in Jacksonville). Also they have several actual rides like a flume ride and a small roller coaster and a carousel. There seemed to be plenty of shade as well and parking was free. Probably the only disappointment was the safari ride as we waited for 40 minutes and the ride could have been more entertaining. Overall they have done a really good job with the zoo even our teenage boys who have been to the Jacksonville Zoo many times had a good time!!

Well worth a leisurely afternoon. The animals are wonderful and some are quite exotic. Of course, one can't expect to see every animal in the afternoon on a hot Florida day, and that was the case with us. Some portions of the zoo were closed for renovation or special projects, but it was still a great afternoon.
The surprise, to us with grown children, is how much there was to offer for small children. A "wet" zone for hot kids, free rides on some very cool rides. Lots of seats and benches strategically placed for tired walkers.
Over all a great visit. And one I would highly recommend for people with small children.
My one disappointment was the expensive admission fee. We have been to zoos all over the country and I don't remember ever paying that much for admission. It is a serious barrier, in my opinion.

We were a little disappointed with the Zoo this year. We understand the complications due the the pandemic, and on this topic they did very well. Employees were wearing masks, social distancing was good and we felt safe.

What disappointed us is that the entire Florida section of the zoo was blocked off for renovations. Not sure if this was advertised anywhere, before tickets were purchased, we didn't see anything on the web site. The section is easy 25% of the zoo being closed. Luckily our tickets were reduced price, due to another zoo membership. If we paid full price we would have been far more upset.

Many of the animals were not out or active. We understand the heat can be a part of this and aren't using it as part of our lower than usual review rating. Just wanted people to be aware.

The zoo is compact but it packs a lot into the small space. When we visited, many of the animals were active and it was good to see them in action. We visited because we had seen the zoo on TV, but it was not as big as we thought it would be from the programme.
The biggest problem was that we visited during spring break. We arrived at 10.00, when the park had opened at 9.30 and all the parking spaces were taken. When we finally found one outside the zoo, we then had to queue for ages to buy tickets and the zoo was the only place that would not accept our pre-pay card. The place really wasn’t set up for the large numbers of visitors. There aren’t enough restrooms and getting food and drinks was almost impossible without waiting for ages.
I’m sure that the zoo is actually great to visit in quieter times, but it really wasn’t prepared for big numbers of visitors

My wife and I had seen Zoo Tampa on TV and decided it would be fun to attend now, while crowds are small. The zoo practiced social distancing. Most people wore masks outside, and everyone inside buildings. We took a behind the scenes tour with a penguin, which we could pet, and play with. Soooo cute! Except for the oppressive heat of Tampa in July, we had a great time. We're both in our early 70's and had no trouble getting around the zoo. Worth the visit!
