- Todd R0 contributionsIncredible way to spend a dayThe guides were exceptionally good. They were engaging and informative. They were also very safety conscious. The equipment was well maintained, and the views were incredible. If you are up for an adventure, I would highly recommend this one.Written 8 September 2024
- maaadison0 contributionsBeautiful coastal kayakingAmazing views of many geological structures and cliffs along the coast in Sesimbra and access to the famous Ribeira do Cavalo beach. Easily doable for beginners! The monitors are fantastic and booking with Discover the Nature was flexible.Written 14 July 2024
- maaadison0 contributionsFantastic adventure tour company - 100% recommendDiscover the Nature has an amazing team of very friendly and knowledgeable guides who will make sure you and your group feel safe, learn about the area, and most importantly - have fun! They make sure everyone is taken care of, even in larger groups, and booking was flexible. This tour in particular is absolutely gorgeous. We were able to explore several caves and also had plenty of time to hang around at the beautiful Praia do Coelho.Written 14 July 2024
- Balulicious0 contributionsBest Kajaktrip everWe booked the tour on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Lisbon. Make sure you bring water shoes for the tour, don't underestimate it. We really enjoyed the tour, we were warmly welcomed. There was no stress or pressure. It was a very good combination of sport, relaxation, sightseeing and interesting historical facts and stories. I am a very critical person and we, as a couple, found it perfect. You couldn't do anything better. Marco is a great photographer who took beautiful pictures. As a tip: The way to the meeting point is difficult, especially in the summer time, many paths to the bay are closed because the locals park on the street and there are bottlenecks. Plan enough time to get to the beach, I would be there 45 minutes beforehand. We showed the policeman our reservation confirmation for the tour and he let us through the roadblock. Best regards Deborah and ErichWritten 25 June 2024
- Getaway081816659300 contributionsAmazing experience! We had a great and experienced guide who showed us how to do everything and guided us through Arrabida park, telling a little bit about it. It was also very nice of him to give us a ride to the beach when we couldn't find an Uber 🫡 About the rock climbing I think everybody who can try it should do it, that's a wonderful experience with great views and lots of fun!Written 22 June 2024
- ayhang8270 contributionsJoyful and funMy boyfriend and I did the kayaking activity for his birthday. Marco and Pedro are really helpful and friendly people who made the experience very pleasant. If you are thinking of doing it, even as a beginner, I would say you are in good hands :)Written 3 May 2024
- faststrat020 contributionsExcellent experienceMy wife and I did the Arrabida adventure circuit on our trip to Portugal. Duration was a few hours in the afternoon. We had great weather (albeit a bit cool in places) and the climb/hikes were amazing. Guides were professional and briefed us on safety (we were fortunate for it to only two of us in the whole group). Definitely would recommend this experience to anyone who wants to try something a bit different and experience some great views of the surrounding area!Written 28 April 2024
- Stan B0 contributionsAn exciting adventure! The activity was exciting but very doable for our relatively fit but unexperienced group. The guidance was great and the views amazing!Written 29 January 2024
- susannahm2630 contributionsThoroughly recommendOverwhelmingly positive!! Luis was amazing and had a great sense of humour. We were a group of english and spanish and he was able to communicate with both which was appreciated. Our pickup from Lisbon was on time and directly from our hotel. Driver was very nice. The views were breathtaking and the activity was really fun! The pictures do not do it justice! Would defo recommend if in Portugal.Written 1 July 2023
- hellehallehulle0 contributionsSpectacular experience - Via Ferrata Santa LuziaSteep, challenging, exciting and quite spectacular! We felt very safe, both with equipment, guide (Marco) and guidance and had a great day climbing. Even though the Via Ferrata is not long, it was well worth the drive and the day. Highly recommended!Written 18 November 2022
- Safari172593281260 contributionsParadiseVery professional team, impeccable equipment and the setting is just breath taking! Such an amazing place to SUP, clear waters where you can see all the fish swimming under, it was a cold January day so was a little skeptical, but in the end was a perfect day out!Written 24 January 2022
- Maurice131019840 contributionsBeautiful canoe tripMy girlfriend and myself decided to take this canoe trip after a lot of research, where one can do something like that in the area around Lisbon. Our Tour was scheduled at 10 a.m.. Per E-Mail we requested a transit from our Hotel in Lisbon to the Beach, which is not that easy to reach with only public transportation. So Marco from Discover the Nature picked us up at 08:30 a.m. and on the way showed and told us a lot about the Ponte 25 de abril, the area around and on the way to Portinho de Arrábida, the natural and maritime parks and so on. It was really interesting. Since we arrived a bit early, Marco offered to introduce us to a small cave with a chapel inside, which we gladly accepted. There he also told us a lot about the area and even took some pictures for us. Afterwards we went to the beach and got introduced to our guide Fabio who told us about the techniques and so on. The tour itself was very entertaining. At the end we couldn't figure out, how almost 3 hours went by that fast. We canoed across the coast, visited two beautiful beaches, where we stopped shortly to rest, refresh etc., saw several small mini-caves and canoed around Anixa, a small, picturesque rock-island vis-a-vis Praia do Portinho da Arrábida. Fabio meanwhile told us some things about the area and specific sights and also offered us some snacks and water. At the end he came to aid another couple, who fell over the canoe into the water and helped them put it on top again and get back inside, which probably isn't that easy with life vests on and paddles to handle. After the tour the guides (thera was another tour going on) called Marco, who brought us back to our hotel. Overall it was a great experience worth the cost and time.Written 22 July 2020
- Sbaloch10 contributionsExcellent Abseiling ExperiencePerfectly arranged Abseiling experience by the team (Marco and Rafaelo). Picked us up on time and took lots of pictures throughout. - srennoldson0 contributionsBest timeMarco, What a great guy, couldn’t have been more helpful and reassuring. I’ve been coasteering before in Cornwall, where the swell comes into play more, but this was just as much fun. Some of the limestone caves are magical. I would definitely recommend this.Written 11 August 2019
- Sara T0 contributionsFantastic coasteering day with Marco and Pedro! We went as a group of about 10 friends, an easy day trip from Lisbon. Marco and Pedro are such friendly, humorous guys! They had patience with everyone in the group, taking time to encourage and allowing us all to push our limits a bit while keeping us very safe. They had everything we needed in terms of equipment and were well-organized. The tour offered opportunities to jump, rappel, zip line, and swim. Very active and you definitely need to be fit in order to enjoy. I highly recommend a coasteering trip with these guys and hope to do it again!Written 28 October 2018

Hi
My name is Ambroise Brody and I want to let you know about my experience in booking a coasteering trip for 2 people on the 6th of July
As a foreigner (I'm french and I don't know a word of Portuguese besides "obrigado"), I want to explain what was hard for me regarding the communication and the preparation for this.
First of all, it was quite difficult getting to the meeting point because nobody told us that the coast road was blocked and that it was also impossible to get to portinho da arrabìda by car. The only thing we had was a gps location without any further indications.
I have to admit that we did not read carefully all of the instructions when booking and we missed one very important thing : we did not bring specific shoes to be able to climb.
The reason we did not bring them is because we thought they were going to give us special shoes to go in the water, like in France (I did 4 coasteering tours in France and they ALWAYS gave it to us)
One last thing that confused me about the shoes is that I had to fill a form with my shoe size for the trip, so I naturally thought that I would not need my own shoes
I realize it's my fault because I did not read carefully all the instructions, but I would have appreciated a reminder by text and precise explanations on what to do and what to bring. I am convinced that communication and openness are at the core of working in tourism, and even just a little smile could help tremendously.
Instead of a smile, we were introduced to our instructors with disdain and smugness. They never apologized for the situation (once again, I know we should have read the text where it said that the shoes were not included) and they made it clear that they would be no form of compensation. We paid for an experience that should have lasted 4 hours, they could have just talked to us about the lovely places to visit and what to do.
In conclusion, I just want to emphasize that some of the tourists that might book your activities are just like us, looking for a human contact and and something to share, while discovering the many marvels of your beautiful country and its beautiful people, so it might be a good idea to take that into consideration and work a little bit more on the SOCIAL part of your activity wich is at least equally as important as the sport part.
With love and respect

Dear Ambroise ,
Excuse me but your speech is completely regrettable, considering that all information is very clear on our website. Since, it is very clear that we do not supply the shoes, and the customer have to bring their own shoes.
Even in the form you filled out it is very clear that the shoe size is only for Scuba diving activities!
As you can confirm on the Coasteering page, under the "Exclusions" information
https://en.discoverthenature.com/product-page/coasteering
Let me tell you, honestly I prefer that you were upset for not having done the activity.
But I could never let you carry out the Coasteering activity without shoes, that would put you at too HIGH RISK,
The safety of all our customers is our first concern, and the comments from other customers make this premise very clear!
And I could never allow you to do the activity in beach slippers.
The information of the meeting point is very clear, that by the way the geographic coordinates that you refer to, are in reality a marked point on Google Maps, very simple to follow.
And more usually we have a waiting period ofv15-minute before we start the activity, and in your case we wait more than 1 hour, this alone would be more than a reason to cancel the activity, but we didn't do that and we waited for you .
Presumption??? Say before "surprised" when you asked for a refund because you forgot your shoes.
When we started preparing your activity at 6:00 in the morning,
My dear Ambroise, will excuse me, but there is no reason for such a complaint, because we fulfilled everything that was agreed, We were at the meeting point waiting for you with all the equipment and instructor's.
I could not at all allow you carry out the activity without shoes that you forgot to bring.
And more, whenever we have clients of any nationality, who ask us for shoes, we supply them without any additional cost.
Being that, it was enough to have asked in advance that we would have taken the shoes.
After 25 years of experience, we have the first complaint, motivated for a forgetfulness on your part.
And, once again, the "SAFETY" of our customers is, without a doubt, our first concern,
For that reason I couldn't allow you to do the activity with slippers. because of the high risk for you!
Finally, like you as mentioned in your comment, you didn't read what's is Included and what's is Excluded, and now you comes to say that you had a bad experience??
All information was given clearly!!!

This was an absolutely great experience and one I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending. As a group of 12, we had our own guides who were both fun and professional encouraging everyone to take part in all of the jumps and challenges. Only an hour from Lisbon and well worth the journey, perfect cure for a hangover!

Had a fantastic time coasteering with Marco and his group. We had two in our group who had never swam in the sea before and struggled a bit at first, but, Marco patiently instructed with swimming techniques and ensured everyone feel comfortable before proceeding to each new activity. Recommend to anyone who enjoys fun physical challenges.

This adventurous cliff jumping, cave exploring, swimming adventure is a true Portuguese experience. The entire crew, including Marco; Joao; and Luiz was accommodating and kind. We saw some of the most beautiful sights and went way outside of our comfort zone in the best way possible. We felt totally safe in the competent hands of Joao and Luiz, as our guide and boat captain, respectively. These people shared their precious land with us, and we were so grateful!
A few important notes:
1. You definitely need water shoes or an old pair of sneakers. If you need water shoes, email in advance. They don’t have them on sight
2. Our excursion was just my husband and I, so we were able to make it as adventurous as we wanted. Expect to climb on some pretty high cliffs and swim with life jackets. It was not easy, but it was totally doable.
3. Luiz took lots of photos of Dave and I. I was so happy to not bring a phone and truly immerse myself in the experience. Again, our tour was just the two of us, so it may not be that way with a larger group, but we were lucky to have such attentive guides.

We did the coasteering experience with Marco and Rui, and I cannot say enough about it! It was such an incredible day and they both made us feel safe while also having a great time. They went above and beyond most tour guides, and even helped us find a way back to town. Truly a great day, I would highly recommend!!

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish, from the transfer to the guide, the entire day was just incredible.
Being scared of heights, they could not have been more supportive and patient and there is no way I would have done the jumps I did without them. AMAZING!!!!

This was an experience of a lifetime! Don’t let fear of heights let you pass up this opportunity. I am so glad I went. Ruy, David and Kathrine were the best set of guides you could ask for! They were encouraging, challenging and professional. We explored so many cool places in the water, caves and had many opportunities to challenge ourselves with multi height jumps. There were always options! Couldn’t recommend this tour more! Thanks for an amazing last day in Portugal!

I completed this experience with my brother and we were both impressed. All the guides were super friendly, well prepared and we were well looked after. We did about 3 jumps, looked at 3 caves, rappelled down the side and walked alongside through the rocks and zip lined down at the end. Some previous swimming experience would probably be helpful as there are swimming parts from rock to rock where the current is not super strong but present, the guides are super patient though with each member of the group. We had a small group just us and two other people and they gave us some chocolate water photos for free wetsuits shoes to rent for 5 euros and the transfer from Lisbon was super easy. Highly recommend this good adventure activity that actually was worth the money .
