Begin your tour with pickup from your San Jose hotel. Travel in an air-conditioned van through scenic countryside en route to your first destination at Cartago, situated at the base of Irazu Volcano. Upon arrival, tour the Basilica of Los Angeles, an important pilgrimage destination famous for its shrine to Black Madonna.

Next, drive up Irazu Volcano to admire its gray slopes and crater lagoon at close range. Descend on the other side into the quiet town of Orosi, where a city walking tour highlights the colonial architecture, natural surroundings, and one of the oldest churches in Costa Rica. Eat lunch at a local restaurant (included).

Your last stop is at the Lankester Botanical Gardens. Your guide tells you about the tropical orchids that make the gardens popular.

Tour concludes with drop-off at your San Jose hotel.

Very easy and very pretty tour!

From pick up, you head straight to the Irazu Volcano at it's highest altitude point. You traverse up serpentine roads and through the clouds that give you a creepy Stephen King-feeling. At the top, it is cold and windy (about 40 degrees F). After that,...More

Quick get away

Jorge was our guide and he was friendly and knowledgeable about the country. The volcano, city and hot springs tour was beautiful and breath-taking. Well worth the trip. Safe, fun and a great way to meet others solo and couples off.

A nice one day trip around San Jose

Good day trip to finish our 2 weeks in Costa Rica. Overall trip was good and as expected. The lunch was good and in a very beautiful place, with (maybe we were lucky?) some tucans flying around.
