    Fun night out
Very nice tour with a young student. I learned a lot a bout culture, food and places to go in the city. Very easy going. Felt more like hanging out with a friend and share different food. Exactly what I was hoping for.

    Excellent way of exploring Shanghai
This tour is a must for any Shanghai visitor wanting to explore local food with an expert introduction by a local guide. Jim was excellent in explaining the origin of different foods, the history of the city and some buildings along the way. He introduced our small group to a varied selection of dumplings, noodles, fruit and skewers (including some Chinese brew), all of which were very tasty indeed. Jim also introduced us to team ceremony in a small, authentic shop which was a worthwhile addition to the tour. Overall, I can't rate this tour highly enough and will make sure to join Jim again next time I am in Shanghai.

Shanghai good tour with a local
Vena was very sweet. It was more than a good tour. We also walked through the gardens in between tasting. She was knowledgeable about the history and the dishes. We tried everything from dim sum to soup dumpling to Michelin star noodles and famous moon cake. She also shared personal insights on daily life of locals which was interesting. Thank you for spending afternoon with me

An incredible taste of Shanghai cuisine!
Jim was a fantastic tour guide and took us on a wonderful breakfast adventure around the French concession neighbourhood of Shanghai. We got to eat, drink, learn history - and have a laugh. I would definitely recommend this to any foodies, and Jim is very knowledgeable about the neighbourhood thank you for an incredible day!

A must do food tour. We loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was the best thing I’ve done in Shanghai. Jim is super knowledgeable about the local cuisine, Chinese history and culture. And so friendly and polite. Fantastic. Don’t eat before you go! Highly recommended.

    Shanghai Late Night Food Tour
If you are new to Shanghai and wanting to try some local food, this is a great tour! Ding was very knowledgeable about the local food and culture and answered all of my (many) questions. It was a fun way to spend an evening and also get to see different parts of the city as well. Would definitely recommend!

    Excellent!
I have been on other foodtours in Shanghai during my previous visits. I can honestly say this is the best one. Jim is a local and gives you a local perspective not just on food but on the city itself. I learnt so much about food, history, beautful buildings and life in Shanghai. We had lots of food stops, everything from noodles, rice rolls, barbecue, dumplings of several types, micro brewery beer to a lovely tea session. Jim was really great, his English is excellent and he got us extras such as local ice cream and he ordered taxis when the weather was not kind to us. He also gave us tips on where to find the best breakfast xiaolongbao and crispy pancakes and we did find them the next morning on our own (and yes, they were superb!). The joining intructions were easy to follow, just make sure you read the signs for the correct subway exit (all stations in Shanghai have lots of exits but they are all clearly numbered so its easy). Overall this was a great experience and I thoroughly recommend it for anyone interested in food and culture.

    Great Food Tour! Loved it
We absolutely loved this tour. Jim and Dean our guides were knowledgeable, friendly and spoke great english. Everything was well organised and ran like clockwork. It's great to be taken into places that you would never find as an independent tourist. The restaurants that we visited were all of a great standard. Loved it all and highly recommend.

    Excellent Local Food Tour ♥️
I’m glad I was able to get this last minute booking. It was excellent and well worth it. Our guide Jim is warm, friendly and knowledgeable. We had different kinds of dumplings. Now I have my new favorite dumplings and they are the Shanghai dumplings. I think we ate 7-8 types of local dishes and we also tried this pretty good craft beer (Flipping Mango Hazy IPA). Thank you for offering this excellent tour. I highly recommend it!

Great Food and Fun for an Evening
The first of my two food tours with Jim and this one had a second guide in Jade, who was also great fun. They made me feel very welcome as the only solo traveller with a group of colleagues and ensured I was able to get back to my hotel from our destination without issue. The food on this particular tour was great and eye-opening in equal measure, and a few beers, IPAs and spirits later, it was an evening well spent

    Great Food and Great Insights
This was the second food tour I did with Jim and it was just as good as the first. I did the breakfast tour and would definitely recommend. He managed to juggle my timing constraints with the other guests, ensuring we didn’t miss out on any of the food stops. Jim has a great depth of knowledge of Shanghai and was able to walk us through some of the more interesting stories, including those of the rise of the Communist Party. All in, a great breakfast option

    Excellent Food tour
I had a lovely afternoon with Vena. We visited many places, all of which I would never have found on my own. We tried all types of traditional Chinese food and I really enjoyed walking around the city. Highly recommend when in Shanghai. Come hungry - we ate so much that I didn't need dinner that evening!

Excellent tour to discover hidden spots!
The food tour was great - my guide showed me a lot of local spots that I would never have discovered or even tried otherwise. He was also very kind and patient with me when I had lots of questions about tea ceremonies and translated all my questions and added details. Can only recommend!

Great food, great beer, great sights, great guide!
Went on this trip with my brother and it was fantastic! Jim showed us some authentic hidden gems around Shanghai that we would never have known about or found otherwise. It was so good to have an informative guide who made sure to share his love of local cuisine and history. Great food, great beer, great sights, great guide! We booked for another tour with Jim the following night...

Jim was a friendly, serviceminded guide with lots of enthusiasm and knowledge. We were taken to several different spots and tasted lots of different foods, while being told the historical significance of the food and area. Prepare to be stuffed. Would give seven stars if possible.

I'm so glad I did this tour as I only had one day to explore Shanghai! It was a small group, Jim, our guide, was warm, knowledgeable and passionate about the places and food we tasted! And the food was really divine, great experience and would really do it again if my hubby joined.

Fantastic morning meandering through laneways which I would never have found or ventured down. Jim was an excellent guide ..his obvious love of his hometown
, willingness to give us an insight into his family and his humour enriched our somewhat brief visit to Shanghai. The food was incredible, the tea tasting was just what I had been wanting to experience, the local knowledge and information excellent.
My 16 year old loved it ...there's no higher recommendation!!!

What a great group outing. Learnt a lot, and ate very well! Jim and Lilac were great hosts who made sure everyone was looked after and had a great time. The food was interesting and delcicious, and we explored places we would never otherwise have seen. Definitly recommended.

The breakfast food tour was the highlight of our stay in Shanghai. Jim and Lilly were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was DELICIOUS, and we we hunted the places out again during the week to eat there again (you can never get enough pot stickers!). Loved the tea ceremony and walking the back streets between food nooks. Loved it. Highly recommended.

Jim was a very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable host that offered a great introduction to the city, the culture and the food. Walking and talking in between stops provided insight and exposure to the neighborhood that would not have been possible for visitors unable to read or speak Chinese. The tea tasting was every bit as interesting and rewarding as the food.

The tour was a great way to spend the first morning in Shanghai and turned out to be the best food I encountered over the remaining (5) days of my trip.

This tour will exceed your expectations. I have done many walking food and culture tours all over the world, but this experience will be hard to beat. Not only was Jim an exceptional guide, but the food he serves you is authentic and like nothing you've ever tasted. I was in Shanghai for less than 24 hours, at the end of a business trip and although I thought I had experienced a genuine peep into Chinese culture - it was not until this tour with Jim did I fully learn, realize and taste something real. Should I return to Shanghai, I will absolutely come back and do more tours with this group.
At the end of the tour, Jim recommended that I visit the Shanghai Urban City Planning Exhibition - which I throughly enjoyed.

Jim brought us through coffee, tea, street food, history and of course xiao long bao. As a Shanghainese, he was able to really give us a feel of the local vibe. Highly recommended!

Thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot on the morning tour with Jim. I've lived in Shanghai 3 years, and wish I had done this tour sooner. Jim really has in-depth knowledge about Chinese / Shanghainese food, drink, and more.
