Delicious food, great walk and kind/knowledgeable tour guide! A must do!
We had the best time in Shanghai with Jade! From the beginning she was very friendly and knowledgeable. Jade took us to try some delicious food and was super kind to us. Not only did we try delicious food, we also walked through beautiful Shanghai streets and parks, Jade even took some great photos of us at the park! She also took us to an incredible tea place and gave us some delicious fruit to try. Overall an incredible experience due to Jade’s kindness. Highly recommend this experience to anyone that comes to Shanghai! Thanks Jade!

    Fun & Tasty!
The tour was amazing all around. Patrick was a great host - he was very knowledgeable and considerate of our time. He made sure we always had enough to eat. Although we didn't have any, he checked in with us prior to the tour to confirm any dietary restrictions and let us know he would be able to accommodate if needed. We highly recommend to anyone who is on the fence or thinking of taking the tour! Just do it!

The best food tour in Shanghai. Don’t miss it!
I’d give Jade 6 stars out of 5 if I could! She was an amazing tour guide who made our time in Shanghai truly special. Right from the start, Jade was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about everything in the city—its history, culture, and even the hidden spots. Her professionalism stood out—she was ready to answer any question. Jade’s passion for Shanghai was infectious, and she made sure we were always comfortable and enjoying ourselves. In short, Jade went above and beyond what we expected. If you want a tour guide in Shanghai who will make your visit unforgettable, Jade is the one. Thanks, Jade, for giving us memories we'll cherish forever!

This is the Shanghai food tour you are looking for! Ask for Patrick!
This food tour was amazing! We’ve been on a few around the world and this one will be memorable for sure. From the noodles, to the dumplings, to the BBQ (our favorite!) everything was spectacular. We went to places that were off the beaten path that only locals know. Patrick, our guide, was super cool and very knowledgeable about the food and the area. He even helped us with our taxi app after the tour to ensure we got home safely. Be sure to request him - the right guide can make all the difference on these tours!

The absolute BEST introduction to Shanghai and it's food!
I recommend a food tour to anyone visiting a city for the first time, especially in a place like China where the cuisine is famous. More than that, Shanghai has its own regional cuisine as well as playing host to many others from around the country and beyond. A food tour sets you up for the rest of the trip. Jim our guide was waiting for us at the meeting spot and we soon set off with the other two members of the tour. We had an amazing array of food from Shanghai and beyond. From home style cuisine, baos, tea, duck, kebabs, fresh fruit, sweets, local Chinese beer, craft beer and Baiju. The variety, portions, and pacing of the trip ensured very satisfied guests, who hadn't eaten so much that they couldn't move, but were definitely not looking for something from 7-11 on the way home. The food, drinks and venues were all superb, scallion oil noodles at the first stop were a revelation. The Muslim kebabs were another highlight, I'd been waiting many years to try these. The egg tarts would give any in Hong Kong a run for their money. And the tea shop was a great interlude. Ultimately however, it was Jim that made the night so memorable. A wealth of knowledge, humour, friendliness and a cool guy. We had a great rapport with him as our small group was open and eager for the experience. But it was great to speak with a local Shanghainese and get insights into Chinese life, culture and traditions. There were plenty of laughs to be had in the chats we had and it felt like an easygoing night with an old friend. Jim's English was on par with any native speaker so communication was a breeze. I also got further recommendations from Jim on WeChat about where else to visit. I had an amazing trip in China. The people were amazing but Jim was the best. It might be Jim's job to be friendly to people but he was an awesome ambassador for Shanghai and China as a whole. The news gives you one image of China but visiting really opens your eyes to an amazing place, with people who we have lots in common with. I would recommend this tour to anyone and I'd even do one again as there are other tour types to choose from such as breakfast tours which are another world of Shanghai food. Thanks Jim, hope to see you again!

Best way to start your visit in Shanghai!
An outstanding foodie tour! My daughter and I had the most amazing time- eating delicious food, practicing our mandarin, learning about Chinese culture and history… and sharing many laughs! We took this tour on our first full day in Shanghai and we now have so many food options thanks to Jim! Highly recommend

Excellent tour! Small, local restaurants where the locals eat, with perfect explanations
Excellent tour!!! My expectation was to go to some usual touristic restaurants and get some explanations, but the tour turned out to be an awesome culinary experience!!! We went to 6 places tourists would never find on their own. The variety was great, also a fruit store and a tea ceremony was included. The several places were in two town districts, even a ride by a limousine service was included in the tour. Jim is a native Shanghainese and he spoke very good English, so we understood everything and he was very committed to answering any questions. He also thought of toilet-time and tried to cover any individual requests. At bonus, we got a e-mail after the tour with all the places we went to (otherwise we wouldn't have found any of them again). Also the amount of food was even too much for some groupmembers, tea and in some places beer is also included, so you will get sated, don't worry! Greetings to Jim and thanks for the tour!

Great and varied range of food!
Great local food tour by Patrick. He was very friendly and answered all my questions about local cuisine. He took me to restaurants I would never go to by myself so really got to experience the good food. My favourite was defiantly the duck pancake!

We went on this tour in March with my friend and I wholeheartedly recommend it. First we tried some local Shanghai dessert shops and bakeries with Jim and finished with tea tasting. All the while we talked about Chinese history and life in general, Jim really helped us bridge the gap between Chinese culture and ours.

I had an excellent time with this tour and I would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for something to do that's a little off the beaten path. The meeting place is by one of the more popular metro stations so finding it was no problem, even for someone with little understanding of Chinese. The first thing Jim asked was whether I had any dietary concerns and then we were on our way. We went to several places and tried several different kinds of desserts, and finished up with a traditional tea session. Jim was very knowledgeable about the foods and the places we were visiting, as well as the city in general. He was willing to answer any questions that I had, even the silly ones and we ended up having some very interesting discussions. Definitely the best part for me was the tea shop, it felt so quiet and relaxed compared to the bustle going on just a few streets away. If you're planning a trip to Shanghai and you have a few hours to spare, I can definitely recommend this tour, especially if you've seen some of the bigger tourist areas and are looking for a break from all that craziness. I'll definitely book another tour with this company the next time I end up in Shanghai!

This was an excellent tour which I would highly recommend!
Jim, our tour guide, was really friendly, fun and knowledgeable about local tea and desserts, and also Chinese culture. He provided us with lots of information but also took the time to ask us questions.
We sampled some very delicious tea and cakes, I am vegetarian and can be quite a fussy eater at times but I honestly enjoyed everything that was offered and was very full after the tour! Jim asked us at the beginning of the tour if we had any dietary needs, thus making sure he knew about what we could eat and not eat.
The places that we went to on the tour were really nice and the staff who worked there were really friendly and interested in us. I particularly liked that Jim took us places that we, as visitors to Shanghai, would never be able to find on our own. Now that we know about these bakeries etc, we will be sure to visit again.
Visiting the traditional tea house was my personal highlight of the tour, it was very relaxing to sit and chat and to sample nice teas! The lady that worked there did not speak any English, however was very friendly and welcoming. I would love to visit her again.
We had some really interesting discussions with Jim and he was able to give us lots of advice in regards to living in China, as we are non-Chinese and have recently moved here.
I would 100% recommend this tour. We are keen to book more tours led by the Shanghai Foodie in the future!

My guide told me that this tour doesn't get much attention which is a shame because it was great! Visited several bakeries, My Tea Pink for a yummy bobo drink made with tea, walked around the Xintiandi area and also thru the old neighborhoods. In the old neighborhood stopped by a small traditional tea shop where I learned all about the various kinds of tea, how tea is fast becoming obsolete. Would definitely recommend this tour you will love it!

The highlight was the tea tasting session with everything from flowers and fruit, through to traditional, aged and violet teas. A lovely gentle and atmospheric experience and such an interesting journey for the palette!

We had an amazing time on our tour! Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took us all over, tasting delicious snacks along the way and educating us about the food, culture and history of Shanghai. We tried many desserts; fig tart, savory moon cake, Jewish cookies, cinnamon rolls, smoothies and more. We sampled a variety of wonderful fresh fruits from a neighborhood fruit vendor, including fresh squeezed pomegranate juice. And we sat for a lovely tea session at a local tea shop. We tried a wide variety of Chinese teas. We’ve always wanted to enjoy the tea at one of these iconic neighborhood tea shops! Overall, we had a wonderful time. We had a great chat and learned a lot about the city. And we tried a wide variety of home town favorites that we might have missed otherwise. Our guide also gave us great recommendations on what to check out during our stay in Shanghai. Definitely recommend!

I think this is a good tour for people who find the obvious tourist attractions boring. It was better because it wasn’t a tour with many people rushing around! I can comfortably ask questions and I think I will have very good memories of taking a leisurely walk from downtown to a quiet neighborhood. The guide was also very friendly.
