Overview
Don't miss this early morning tour to El Tatio geyser field, one of San Pedro de Atacama’s most popular surrounding attractions and one of the biggest geothermal fields in the world with more than 80 geyers. With a local guide, you'll arrive at El Tatio at sunrise, when the cold, high-altitude air creates a mystical landscape of steam. Then enjoy a light breakfast. End your tour with a stop in the small adobe village of Machuca.
Highlights
  • See one of the world’s largest geyser fields
  • Includes hassle-free, round-trip transportation
  • Fuel up with an included light breakfast
  • Make a stop at the small village of Machuca
What to Expect
Your tour begins with an early morning pickup from your San Pedro de Atacama hotel. Settle into the air-conditioned van for the journey north, arriving at El Tatio by sunrise (entrance fee at own expense). Enjoy the spectacle of the rising sun over the geyser field, one of the biggest in the world. Take advantage of your free time to explore the field, marveling at the columns of steam emitted by each geyser. Enjoy a light breakfast and dip in an inviting hot spring before getting back into the minivan. The next stop is the village of Machuca, home to around 10 people, a wooden church, and rustic, thatch-roofed homes. You can browse for handmade crafts or sample the local specialty, llama empañadas, at your own expense. Settle into the van for the journey back to San Pedro de Atacama where your tour concludes with drop-off back at your hotel.

I was skeptical at first. 5:30 seemed like a late pickup time for viewing the sunrise, and the guide seemed a little cheesy. But it ended up being a great trip! The guide was knowledgeable and multilingual. The bus was comfortable and clean. The geysers...More

Waking up at 4 am and driving to the mouth of the volcano and witnessing the geysers from total darkness to brightness when they nearly disappear was mesmerizing. The tour service exceeded all expectations of comfort, timeliness and quality of breakfast cooked there..

There are toilets (very good and clean) at the beginning of the park where you get your ticket checked. No toilets in the area of geysers afterwards. Have fun!
