- Kai B0 contributionsTop tier tour for Osaka and seeing the highlights / food and shoppingWe had an amazing 5-hour tour with Dominic in Osaka! Dominic gave us a fascinating history lesson at Osaka Castle and the downtown area, he also made navigating the city— which seemed quite overwhelming — but his guiding made it super easy and stress-free. Dominic also introduced us to some delicious local food, and his suggestions for the rest of our trip were spot on. Highly recommend Dominic for anyone wanting to explore Osaka!Written 13 October 2024
- 392heatherm0 contributionsFantastic Food and Cultural Tour! This tour was absolutely fantastic! Adam was our guide, and he included a great historical overview of Osaka as we travelled around the city, saw some hidden gems, and tried different foods. He tailored the tour to exactly fit our goals. He was fun, upbeat, and made our stay in Osaka extremely memorable. Thanks Adam and Osaka Food Tours!Written 13 October 2024
- wsmNewYork0 contributionsGreat Introduction to OsakaA really enjoyable tour thanks to our Irish guide, Brian. We learned a lot and had great fun on the way. Highly recommended.Written 11 October 2024
- LJCamby0 contributionsGreat fun tour well worth it!Natalie was a great tour guide. Loved her friendly, vibrant, bubbly personality. She was well informed & knew her stuff! We tried a few dishes that I'd never order on my own, so that was a bonus. They need to include Okonamiyaki on the food list.Written 11 October 2024
- Diana N0 contributionsTaka was an exceptional Osaka tour guideTaka met us at the Osaka port for a half day tour. We took the subway and went to the castle which is amazing and a must see. If you are on a half day tour and want to see the inside of the castle, you need to reserve tickets in advance so you don’t have to wait in line. The line was probably a 1.5 hour wait without reservations on the day we were there. We didnt make advanced reservations so skipped seeing the inside of the castle so we could see more of Osaka. Then Taka took us to the Minamii/Dotombori area and introduced us to some hidden gems. Then we went to the fish market and had puffer fish and octopus balls which both were amazing! Taka then accompanied us back to the port to meet our ship on time! Taka is very knowledgeable about Osaka, the history, and is a local. His English is excellent and was the best tour guide!Written 11 October 2024
- DavidBauman10 contributionsFun way to learn about OsakaWe booked this tour as first time visitors to Osaka. Tommy was our guide and very friendly and personable. We were able to learn a little history, quirky things about Osaka and why it’s so special, and have some food and drinks along the way. We also appreciated that Tommy could tailor the tour to what we hoped to see (and eat!) and had nice relationships with stores and restaurants :)Written 10 October 2024

- J5416AEalexanderm0 contributionsAn awesome selection of authentic Osaka cuisineWe loved getting a little taste of what Osaka has to offer. The tour took place in a more local area which was great. - Washington_White0 contributionsMore Than Just a Food Tour! This is a great way to introduce yourself to some of the culture and food of Osaka. Our guide (Anna) was welcoming, great fun, full of energy and just really good at explaining what we were eating and why. The food was OK, but it was her personal insights into life in Osaka that really made the tour. The tour is not cheap and you will undoubtedly get better food elsewhere, but this tour is much more than that. This was our first night in Japan and we felt it was a great insight into some of the etiquette and traditions associated with Japanese dining.Written 5 October 2024
- 938shereeg0 contributionsGreat tour of OsakaThis was a great tour, we were guided by Stephanie who was knowledgeable and really provided a deeper insight into culture, nightlife and great places to eat in Osaka. highly recommend this tour. Wear comfy shoes :)Written 4 October 2024
- mettec1130 contributionsDelicious food, great small group activityWe had a fabulous time on the Osaka Food Tour. We were lucky to have an amazing guide, Taka, and a cool and very international group. We got on so well most of us partied on together in Namba after the tour finished. We sampled delicious traditional Japanese food, the food and drink included in the tour was super generous. I’d highly recommend going on this, and cross your fingers you get the pleasure of having Taka take you round the restaurants.Written 3 October 2024

Very cool trek through the more unseen portions of urban Japan. This 2-3 hour tour went through some really cool, 'locals only' parts of Osaka, with the inside scoop from humorous, empathetic English speaking tour guides. Would highly recommend if you want to learn more about the areas not listed on the tourism websites.

Booked this tour with high expectations and I confidently can say it blew my expectations even higher. Kevin was super knowledgeable about every little detail and gave us explanations about Osaka that no other tour would give us. You get to see an entirely different part of the city that would be impossible to get while walking it alone. Highly recommend it including dinner.

An excellent tour of the nightlife of Osaka. So many interesting things to see. The first half of the tour was light and fun. The second half explored more of the seedier parts of the town but was possibly even more interesting. We took our mature 13 year old as well as our other 3 older children. Our 13yo chose not to see some of the sights and the guide (Kevin) made this very easy while still accomodating the group.
Definitely recommended.

Our tour guide Luca was great!!!
We got to see a lot of the area and he told us a lot of the history and showed us a lot of the area and market. We were interviewed or filmed for a local tv show! We then proceeded to the back alleys and areas where we got some food and learned more about the area and culture.
Luca then took us to a restaurant where we got great food and met a local celebrity!! Overall was a great tour and learned quite a bit about the otherside.

Andy is great! He is so personable and easy to get along with. The food was amazing, but just getting to know him was a lot of fun. He gives a perspective of Osaka and Japan that you can't get anywhere else. Osaka is a gem, and Andy will help you experience what it really means to live there. If you prefer to see a city from the perspective of someone who lives there, I highly recommend this.

This was my first walking tour ever and it was beyond my expectations! It was a very clear meet up spot and every bit of the tour was exactly as described. There was also a super engaging tour guide Matt who was engaged and animated the whole tour! We were able to eat drink and see our way listerslly through the “ underbelly”. I was able to get a view of Osaka that I would not have been able to get elsewhere! Highly recommend!

For this tour we were lucky to be in a small group, which made the experience more fun and intimate. Bennet was our guide and he was a wealth of knowledge on Japan and the sites that we visited.
It was so much fun walking around the neighborhoods and learning everything from Japanese religion to the seedy underbelly of Japanese Society. This is an eye opening tour and I HIGHLY recommend it to any tourist traveling through Osaka to take this once in a lifetime tour.
Bring comfortable shoes, questions, and an appetite for all things Japanese .
Thank you Andy and Bennet for all that you do and for a great tour experience!

Initially we were looking for a food tour and chose this backstreet tour due to the high ratings. It definetely paid off. We walked streets and saw parts of Osaka we wouldn't have dreamed of checking out. We learnt alot about Japan and Osaka which you can't necessarily read about either. Also the food we ate has been the best we have tried in Osaka during our trip.
Kevin was our guide and he was funny and informative and even showed us karaoke after the tour. We don't speak Japanese at all really so he made everything very smooth and comfortable.
Thanks so much again Kev!

We spent several hours walking through the Shinsekai and Nishinari neighborhoods, eating, drinking and learning about the culture and history of Osaka. Our guide Aron did a really fantastic job of answering questions, providing helpful tips and, of course, leading us to a lot of really delicious food! He was friendly, knowledgable and, along with our fellow tourists, made for a great companion. He had clearly done a lot of preparation and guided us to several spots offering various delicacies, places that I'm not at all confident we would have found on our own. Everything we tried was fresh, delicious and there was more than enough food to make it worth the price. We had a wonderful time, and would recommend this tour to anybody.

Was a cold night but a fantastic group of people and Luca our guide was very hospitable and informative. Very interesting seeing this side of Osaka.
Nibbles on the way around and my son and i opted for dinner which we really enjoyed as we had food that i would never of tried and at a place i would never would have entered into but turned out a great night.
Luca also passionate about helping in this community and where we ate dinner they also help the youth in the area with meals and such.
Great to know this tour group also helps out
thanks Luca

hello, I made a reservation on trip advisor for your tours in the name of Maxime Lacarriere on 23/03/2023. Unfortunately I will not be able to be present and I would like to cancel the tour if possible. I can't do it on the website because I made the reservation without creating an account on trip advisor, can you help me ?

Hello!
When I did the tour, we met at Daikokucho station.
I hope that helps. ;)

Hi, I notice there are no reviews since May. Has the tour stopped running?
Written 17 September 2020
My tour started at 5.30 as well. I dont think theres a lot of flexibility with timings. There was a big group when I went so we split in 2 groups. The second group left about 5/10 mins after us, so I would say that's about all the flexibility there is.

Is there any availability for two people tonight?

Hoping to book a place on your tour - can you please tell me if there is a vegetarian dinner option at the restaurant at the end? Thanks!
Written 13 October 2019
Gem, absolutely we have vegetarian options at the final restaurant. Vegetarian yakisoba or okonomiyaki (Japanese pizza). We look forward to seeing you:)
