    Flawed Tour
It was an informative, engaging tour. The ebikes are easy to use and makes going uphill a breeze. The reason for the average rating is the guides's knowledge (or lack thereof) and the routes. They certainly know a lot about Kyoto but were sometimes dismissive when questions were asked. They are incorrect about a few facts, like the upper level of the Golden Pavilion doesn't have Buddha's remains but rather, relics of Buddha. They demonstrated omikuji, Japanese fortune slips, but left out the crucial part: receiving your fortune. As for the rides, there were rough streets. Not cobblestone but stone pavement. Our group survived, a few were already cyclists, but we didn't expect it. I would not recommend this tour if you're expecting smooth pavement.

    Tour Kyoto like a local
Amazing tour of Kyoto. Historically important temples off the beaten path, quaint geiko districts, countryside & farm land, mountain shrines, bamboo forests - even shaved ice! Every location except the forest was nearly empty, which made for a much more personal experience (we went to a tourist-filled temple the next day...not as fun). Henry was a legend of a tour guide, incredibly knowledgeable of Japan's history and culture. Really nice bikes too. Highly recommend!

    Phenomenal Kyoto Tour
This was an absolute blast! Great adventure/tour of Kyoto and some outlying areas. Henry was the perfect tour guide! His knowledge of the history of Japan and Kyoto was phenomenal! Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Kyoto, you will enjoy the experience and learn so much more than you pay for. The e-bikes are great for covering a lot of ground around Kyoto!

Great tour of Kyoto temples and bamboo forest!
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Japan. We really enjoyed visiting the off-the-beaten-track temples and sights in Kyoto. The e-bikes were fun and we were able to cover so much more ground than on a typical bike or walking tour. The best part was cycling past rice fields and farms with views of the mountains. Our tour guide Henry was so knowledgeable and provided so much insight into what we saw and Japanese history and culture. He even gave us great tips on finding vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Highly recommend!

    Fun and Informative e-bike tour
An excellent ride through the communities of eastern Kyoto, split up by stops at temples and shrines, with informative and interesting descriptions of customs and culture. Yuta, our guide, was incredible! He was friendly and educated, with excellent English. He went above and beyond to make sure we had an awesome experience. He also took us to spots you might not normally see as a tourist. I highly recommend the tour as a way to get immersed in the new environment when visiting Kyoto.

Great experience with many facets lead by a caring guide
We enjoyed the bike tour with Yuta, who had not only shown us less common places including temples and authentic Geisha/ Maiko quarters. We also learned a lot about local mentality and culture. A short meditation offered at a zen garden provided a peaceful experience. All together a great afternoon thanks to Yuta!!

    Great tour
This was a really excellent tour, cannot recommend highly enough. Our guide Michael was very enthusiastic and really gave us a lot of info and found some really good spots to chat through lots of aspects of Japanese culture. He was super considerate about the heat bringing lots of cold water and later on a free ice cream which the kids appreciated. The bikes were comfortable and the ebike settings made it really easy. One of the best things we have done in Japan.

    We loved it.
Michael was great and super knowledgeable. The pedal assist bikes made it a breeze and just a light workout (Assuming you’re the active type). We’d do it again in a heartbeat. The shrine with the figurines was awesome. My only suggestion would be to make more mini 30sec- 2 min stops. Stop at a rice vending machine, stop at the tree farm, stop at the shrine with the large imposing statues (vs. Telling us we’ll be riding by them). Doesn’t have to be more than 30 seconds, but we’re all on bikes so it’s an easy quick stop to check things out someone has never seen before. Overall tho, we loved it so please don’t take that as a big negative vs suggested ways to make it even more awesome.

    Great way to see Kyoto!
Our family and two friends had a great bike tour with Michael from Noru. We appreciated getting to know more about Kyoto and seeing some parts of Kyoto that we would have not normally seen on a regular tour. We would definitely recommend this and would take another biking tour with Noru if we visit Kyoto again.

More than just a visit to the bamboo forest
This was so much more than just the bamboo forest! We visited shrines, temples and learnt about Geisha along the way. Our guide Yuta was amazing, with so much fascinating information and taking us off the beaten track to serene, less crowded temples. We no doubt would have missed the Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple otherwise and it's hundreds of little stone heads. The electric bikes were perfect, reducing the effort and making it easy for all to keep up (kids aged 16+ so can't comment on suitability for any younger). Would highly recommend. Thank you Yuta!

The Highlight of Our Kyoto Visit
Noru’s Secret Kyoto E-Bike tour was recommended by a friend. It did not disappoint. We were expecting a fun afternoon of cruising through the city, but our group was treated to so much more. The E-Bikes did serve as an efficient, convenient, and fun way to explore the city, but the best part of the tour was the cultural lesson given at each of the many stops. Yuta, our very knowledgeable guide, detailed the historical and cultural significance of each site/activity. My family appreciated Yuta’s remarkable knowledge and enthusiasm, as well as his warm and humble nature. Yuta and the Noru Kyoto experience were the highlight of our trip to Kyoto.

Exceeded expectations, a highlight of our trip to Japan
Honestly, this was one of the best moments of our 2 week trip to Japan. Sean (tour guide) was so knowledgeable and friendly. He made every person on the tour feel welcome and took care throughout the ride to stop when a member of the tour wanted to take pictures or needed time to catch up. We got to see a lot of Kyoto that we had not read about online or planned to see.

    You should go!
Yta (pronounced Utah for English speakers) was an excellent guide and lead me and my two sons I journey all over Kyoto. He gave us history on the temples of shrines, took us through the countryside, led us to hidden locations that we had all to ourselves. A tea ceremony, zen meditation, and bamboo forest; I couldn't believe the four hours went by so fast. Riders should be confident riding a bike. You're occasionally riding near traffic, but luckily drivers in Kyoto are extremely good at driving around bicycles. I felt very safe throughout. We've been in Tokyo and Kyoto for 7 days, and this was my son's favorite activity.

    Great E-Bike Tour!
What a GREAT tour! We booked a private tour for our family of four as we wanted to travel a bit further and see specific things. Sean was our guide and did a fabulous job adjusting the pace (we were fairly quick) and explaining the city and the sites. Mike, another guide, joined us to learn one of the routes and was also a wealth of information. We can't recommend it enough!

    Fantastic Group Tour!
A group of 8 travelling friends took an ebike tour with Sean. All but 2 of us had done an ebike tour before (I hadn't), varied age group (47 to 63) and fitness levels. Sean took us through the streets of Kyoto, into a geisha district, out of suburban Kyoto into the bamboo grove, stopping at an ice cream shop on the way home run by two wonderful, hospitable women. Fantastic commentry and insight into Kyoto. We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour and look forward to doing many more. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

If you are only in Kyoto for the weekend, this is the best way to see a little bit of everything! It's nice having a private tour guide who can teach you a little history about the places you see. Our tour guide, Sean was amazing and he even taught us the proper way to pray at the shrine! The bikes are super easy to ride and get used to, this was my first time ever using one and I had no problems. We would absolutely do this again. The only thing I would recommend is bringing a snack because we did the day tour and I got really hungry.

We booked the Noru e-bike tour to do something a little off the beaten path after battling with the hordes of other tourists at many other places in Japan. It far exceeded our expectations!

Yuta, our guide for the journey, was a perfect combination of fun, humor, and information. He doesn’t just lead you from destination to destination. Instead, he provides historical perspective with a touch of education on Buddhism and Shinto. It’s a way to better understand Japanese culture and beliefs and we all found it enlightening. He shares things that feel quite personal to him and we genuinely appreciated him for it.

The bicycles are great and add some excitement to the tour. Great to see that part of Kyoto while resting our protesting feet after walking so much the days before. If you can ride a bike, you’re good to go.

I won’t delve too much into the locations and leave it to your own discovery. They’re all interesting in their own way, and you will certainly learn more than you might expect.

TLDR: If you’re thinking about this tour, book it. Certainly a highlight of our trip to date! Thanks Yuta and maybe our paths will cross again!

The business and start line seemed hard to get to at first and out of the way, so plan accordingly and be on time for your reservation. This is YOUR responsibility, not the tour or guide. Be diligent, don’t flake, and arrive early.

That said, once you do the tour the start and launch location makes perfect sense. I.e., awesome tour, it’s in a fabulous part of Kyoto, and the experience exceeded expectations.

PS - if you get him, Henry, the tour guide from the UK we had, is a baller (that’s American slang for the dude was awesome). The company that pays Henry to lead these bike tours needs to pay him even more $$.

Company owner - once/if Henry leaves you will have a heckuva time replacing a guy/guide like him. Without him it’s a totally different experience and I don’t think it will be the same quality for your customers. You have no idea what an employee gem you have in this dude.

This was a great way to see North Kyoto! We didn't realize it when we arrived, but everything in Kyoto is more spread out and takes longer to get to compared to Tokyo; the bus system is also a little more complicated (and slower!) compared to the metro. Biking around was convenient and fun, and seeing the city whizzing by was pretty cool. Our guide, Yuta, was super friendly and knowledgable about the area - one of our travellers didn't have much experience on a bike, and he was very patient with her! We really appreciated him giving us more information about the history of the areas /shrines we visited, and we loved getting a taste of the local culture! Yuta also took the time afterwards to talk to us about additional local recommendations, and make sure we knew how to get to our next destination safely.

Our tour guide Yuta was incredible. He has a lot of knowledge on the history of the temples and shrines and we got to see so much of the city in 3 hours time. Without a tour guide the experience would not have been this great, and we would not have found the hidden cafe with the yummy Japanese dango snacks. Yuta gave us some extra tips for other places we're planning on going to visit too, such a gem of a human. Highly recommended!

Yuta was an incredible guide! We loved seeing Kyoto while biking through beautiful neighborhoods. Yuta made the experience come alive with good descriptions, funny stories, and thoughtful commentary. We biked to each little stop and then walked around as he shared information and answered any questions. We visited a quiet geisha neighborhood, he brought us to a few different shrines and explained customs in a very accessible way. We enjoyed a snack in a 1000 year old venue and got the back story on the Kinkakuji Temple, and learned about Wabisabi. We spent some contemplative time in a Zen Buddhist Temple, which was very refreshing. Our two twenty something children enjoyed the tour as much as we did, and we all consider it a highlight of our trip to Japan. Yuta is incredibly kind, funny, and helpful - he helped us get off to our next activity on time by making sure the taxi driver knew exactly where to take us next. Cannot recommend this tour and Yuta enough!

Fun 4 hours traveling through North Kyoto. The bikes were electric, meaning that minimal effort was required. We saw a couple of temples / shrines and stopped for morning tea. We travelled through the back streets and saw lots of fascinating sites off the beaten track! Our guide Micheal was truly amazing, he not only gave us brief informative history and cultural lessons, he was humorous and full of anecdotes about his years of living in Japan.

This bike tour is awesome as it takes you to spots you would have otherwise not gone to in Kyoto. Our tour guide was Yuta and he was outstanding. He really took care of us and he is passionate about what he does. You will learn very interesting history from him and he knows the secret backstreet routes. We made several stops such as an old Geisha district, temples/shrines, a 1,000 year old Cafe and a Zen Buddhist garden. Yuta was very informative and we highly recommend his services and this tour.
