Day Trip: Masada Sunrise, Ein Gedi, and Dead Sea from Tel Aviv

Select Date and Travellers
2 travellers
Visit Masada at the best time of the day, for the Masada sunrise, when the mountains in the distance and waters of the Dead Sea glisten with the sun's reflection. After hiking up and exploring the fortress, you will have a chance to explore the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, a desert oasis with amazing natural beauty. And finally, float in the waters of the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. This tour is self-guided, led by an experienced driver.
  • Enjoy three of Israel’s must-see sights in a day from Tel Aviv
  • Rise early, climb Masada, and see the sunrise—something many visitors miss
  • Explore Ein Gedi’s trails and float in the Dead Sea from a private beach
  • Self-guide at each site: only Dead Sea entry and transport included
What to Expect
Your day starts with an early-morning pickup in central Tel Aviv by air-conditioned vehicle. Bring sturdy shoes and refreshments. Catch some sleep on the drive east through the Judean Desert and then arrive at Masada, a first-century BC fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Head inside (own expense) and ascend on foot independently, following the path to the mountaintop ruins. At the summit, marvel at the views, as the sun rises over the Dead Sea and illuminates the mountainside, and then inspect the ancient ruins. Next, head to Ein Gedi, a nature reserve of palms, waterfalls, and pools. Go inside (own expense) and explore on your own before traveling to the Dead Sea, the Earth’s lowest point. Enjoy the salt waters and a mineral-rich mud bath at a private beach here before finishing your tour back at the Tel Aviv starting point.

It was a very nice trip but you basically just pay the driving fee and entrance to the Dead Sea. We hardly had time to visit En Gedi and swim in the Dead Sea, or have lunch. Also, the bus/ the seats were very dirty....More

Maybe 25 on the bus. We were told how much time we would have at each destination and what time the bus would leave. It didn’t seem rushed to me. Perhaps others felt differently.

You drive as a group to Masada. The driver points you to the ticket office and tells you what time to be back but you walk up individually. There’s nothing to stop you walking with anyone you’ve struck up a friendship with... More
