A amazing tour with roobaroo while in Benaras.
The tour was really amazing and we got more connected to the city by the stories shared by our tour guide Saurabh, dont miss out to ask him as ur tour guide, he is really good very patient and calm and has answers to all your questions. the tour was very professionally arranged and giving four hours to this trip is worth it. the hidden places that saurabh showed us were really mesmerizing and the stores for pickles and papads and sweets is must visit. good work roobaroo....

    Stories make a trip
Saurabh was amazing & kept us enthralled with his stories and description. Next day Anupam was with us on the food tour & was equally well versed and engaging. Both were very patient & helpful with the seniors in our group. Their talks gave perspective & made the tours really interesting.

    Roobaroo with Varanasi
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Roobaroo Walks and especially, Mr. Anupam Singh, for showing us (my friends and I) the vibrant life and history of Banaras. Every ancient street, the spectacular ghats, the historic buildings, the famous street food had a story to tell, and Anupam narrated it beautifully. His knowledge and passion for the city’s landmarks and hidden gems made our trip truly memorable. Exploring Banaras with Anupam was a fun, insightful and enriching experience. Thank you, Anupam, for making Varanasi’s past come alive for us! Thank you for your enthusiasm, expertise, and for going beyond the call of duty, to put us at the heart of your thoughts and actions. You were totally committed to creating added value for us. I am absolutely delighted with Roobaroo’s stellar customer service, and look forward to many such magical walks and wonderful holidays with you.

Discovering Varanasi's Charm: A Roobaroo Adventure
Roobaroo was a fantastic discovery during my search for offbeat walks in Varanasi while traveling solo. Tulika, the booking manager, gave friendly guidance and her effervescence made planning my itinerary a breeze, from day one. Despite not having group walks on my travel dates initially, I struck gold with two walks in a day with Roobaroo before leaving Varanasi. I booked the North and South Varanasi walks, including a morning boat tour, led by the group leader, Anupam. Exploring the alleys of both North and South Varanasi with Anupam was an enriching experience that delved deep into the city's cultural tapestry. He not only pointed out the physical landmarks but also shared captivating stories and historical anecdotes, providing context to the sights we encountered. Walking through the labyrinthine streets, we witnessed the daily rhythms of life in Varanasi: from vibrant market scenes filled with the aroma of street food to the tranquil banks of the Ganges where devotees performed their rituals with unwavering devotion. Anupam’s expertise helped us appreciate the architectural marvels of the temples and hidden gems within the alleys, each with its own tale to tell. We learned about the city's religious significance, its role as a center for learning and spirituality, and the enduring traditions that have shaped its identity over centuries. Moreover, Anupam’s passion for Varanasi's history and culture was contagious, sparking lively discussions among the group and fostering a deeper connection to the city. By the end of the walk, I had gained not only a better understanding of Varanasi's past and present but also a profound appreciation for its timeless allure. It was an immersive journey that left me with memories to cherish and a desire to explore more of this captivating city. Thank you, Tulika and Anupam for making my Banaras trip wholesome!! Highly recommend!!

    Memorable Family Trip to Varanasi
I had signed up with Roobaroo Walks to be our Partner and heritage walk guide during our trip to Varanasi in Nov ‘23. They were highly recommended by a colleague who had enlisted their services before me. This was pne of the best decisions we made, for that trip. They are known to bring in a local flavour and touch to their experiential walks. I was also very particular about Anupam to be our guide. His extensive knowledge enriched our experience, and his ability to share local flavors added a delightful dimension to our trip. He is an amazing story narrator ! I would highly recommend their services. The kind of places we visited through Roobaroo - even the localities there may not have been to. Thank you for making our visit to Varanasi extremely memorable and informative !

    Quintessential Varanasi with Rubaroo
Exploring the north of Varanasi was a captivating journey, as we walked through centuries-old alleys, temples, and vibrant markets. Anupam, the storyteller, shared many anecdotes around the mystique blend of tradition and spirituality that seamlessly coexist in the town of Varanasi. Walking these paths with Rubaroo felt like traversing history's echoes, a blend of tranquility and cultural richness that lingers long after the journey ends.

    An Enchanting and Memorable Experience
Living in God's Own Country (Kerala), a visit to Varanasi was on our bucket list for quite a long time, nearly 10 years. Reaching there was not the problem, what to see and whether we would miss out anything important was on our minds as this was not a routine trip. We chanced upon 'Roobaroo' while reading the Trivandrum Sunday edition of the New Indian Express and we knew it was set. An itinerary prepared by Tulika, based on our list and some more spots and tours which we had missed out made it more interesting. The three days at Banaras covered most of the tours as advertised on Robaroo. On Day 1 our storyteller was Saurabh who kept us spellbound with his knowledge of the holy city and guided us through the maze of lanes to all the important temples and shared with us the various secrets of the city, which during the normal course one would miss, inter-spiced with doses of his wit. Anupam was our storyteller on Day 2 and 3. Day 2 started off with the morning Aarti and then we took the sunrise boat tour followed by the North Varanasi Walk which included a visit to a Vishnu temple , an Akhara and Saint Tulisidas's house followed by a local breakfast. We felt we were in a an amphi theatre watching a biopic of Banaras with the right inputs. The Food walk was memorable and never have we found this much space to try all the mouthwatering goodies and made us want for more with the description and history of the stuff we could not taste. We felt that an extra day would have been needed to have a nearly complete experience of the exclusive Varanasi cuisine. Day 3 started off at Sarnath, and it was quiet and rejuvenating and the early morning vibe made it meditative. This was followed by the Textile Tour which took us to the narrow lanes of the creative weavers of Benares. An opportunity that justified the price of Banarasi Sarees. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed Banaras through Robaroo and felt that we were wrong about it being overpriced. We had requested them to provide us support with cab bookings throughout our stay there which was arranged and coordinated without hiccups and reasonably priced. Thank you team Robaroo for making our trip memorable.

    Magnificent Banaras with Roobaroo Walks
We had researched and planned our 4-day Varanasi trip to maximize the experience of this ancient holy city. Roobaroo Walks was highly recommended and it did not disappoint. From meeting us exactly at the appointed time and place, to sending us off knowing so much more than we did at the start of the tour, our story-teller and guide Anupam was fantastic. Being a true local, Anupam know Varanasi like the back of his hand. He began by orienting us with magnified maps of the city, and then walked us through the labrythine gullies, explaining in great detail the historical, mythological and current contexts of the various landmarks. From lesser-visited ancient temples, mosques, the ghats and burning pyres, seeing Varanasi through Anupam's lens left an indelible mark in our minds eye. From a city that had bewildered our senses earlier, we left with a sense of reverence, because on Anupam's advice we did not try to comprehend the city anymore; just experienced it as it presented itself. The tour was certainly one of the highlights of our trip and we highly recommend Roobaroo Walks.

The whole experience was amazing The biking trip was curated and organised very well. I thoroughly enjoyed every single day. I was solo, but they did not cancel their program, but went ahead with it. Though it was a biking trip, they made me experience safari, hiking and playing in the river along with biking. Thanks to team Roobaroo...Samir and Anupam

Varanasi will live in your heart
I had the most amazing time walking the gulleys of Varanasi and sitting by the ghats in this unique itinerary. My guide, Anupam is such an amazing story teller, he took us to so many hidden spots that we would not have found by ourselves. More importantly his knowledge of history and his own love for his city is translated in everything he showed us. We also ate some of the best paan, lassi, mithai, jalebi…aaah I’d love to go again on the tour now. Don’t miss the chance to walk with Anupam (or anyone from Roobaroo).

We had travelled to Varanasi in September beginning on a short visit. Not satisfied with the usual temple trail, we wanted to try out something different and called up Anupam. I must say, this was probably the best decision I had taken in a long time.
We stayed in Benares for three days and did all three walks : South walk combined with food and boat tour , next day North walk combined with boat tour.
I can't emphasize how great an experience we had with Anupam and Saurabh.
Anupam took us through the narrow lanes and introduced us to the local way of living. Be it the idyllic pan shop, the saree shopping, an amazing "thandai" shop, local cuisine or a hidden-old world- temple.
Each destination seemed like an adventure in itself and experiences I would carry with myself for a long time.
Saurabh is a local celebrity, and we went to Tulsi's Ashram, an Akhara and had sumptuous breakfast. We also had long conversations with both of them on culture, religion, society and ended up buying books recommended.
They often say that you carry and leave a piece of your heart to the places you travel.
With Robaroo walks I was able to experience Benares in its truly authentic and raw form . Listening to stories from past and present while at the same time, experiencing the inner city with all the sensory experiences available was a joy and delight. I would highly highly recommend investing in these experiences. I am planning to do city hopping to try out Roobaroo walks in other cities too. :)

This is not the first time we choose Roobaroo, they are our standard team with whom we always wish to explore the city. The best part is they are kind. To be in a city like Varanasi which is the cradle of Sanātana Dharma, one's mere existence there should bring pride, let alone creating a job on these lines. With all that knowledge about mankind and civilization, the team is as humble and kind as any true learned is. They know their job well and they have their heart in their work. I am not taking the list of eateries and exotic shopping venues we were taken to, that would consume a whole new column :).

I had one of the most memorable trips of my life thanks to Anupam and Saurabh at Roobaroo. They had the most well thought through trails to explore the city, filled with anecdotes and stories about Banaras and they very quickly became a part of my family. I got see the city through a local’s eyes and experienced the absolute abundance of warmth, kindness and generosity of Banarasi people. They were extremely knowledgeable, well researched yet very warm and friendly - when they understood I was visiting for my birthday they made sure to celebrate it in unique Banarasi style. I will forever be grateful to Roobaroo walks for curating one of the most memorable trips of my life and making me feel like I belong to this city. Thank you

There were 6 of us including a Sr Citizen and a pre-teen child. We did the following tours -
a) Early morning Temple Visit (Kashi Vishwanath, Annapurna Ji & Kal Bhairav Darshan
b) Sunset Boat tour (including evening Ganga Aarti) and
c) Sunrise Boat Tour + South Walk (City of Good Life Walk)

The tours were very well planned to ensure we covered all the important sites.
Our guide during the entire tour was Anupam. He was very attentive to the needs of our group. For eg. he ensured we had a wheelchair for the entire time during the temple tours. He engaged with everyone in the group and we were updated about the spiritual significance of various sites , history as well as the best placed to eat once the tour was over. We were satisfied we had chosen Roobaroo because in the limited time we felt we had covered the city very well.

We had contacted Roobaroo Walks a few weeks prior to our visit to Varanasi. Within 10 mins of speaking with Anupam, we decided to have them as out guide.

Anupam spoke to us to understand our requirements and curated a custom 4 day experience for our family.

He took us to several authentic food joints, shared the history of the people running the places and recipes. It was truly a fantastic gastronical affair.

They arranged for all the boat rides, temple visits, shopping for authentic banarasi sarees and Ganga Aarti all while explaining the history and culture of the city. Something which you would not get in any websites or blogs.

Anupam is very knowledgeable and very patiently narrates the history of the city all the while keeping in mind his audience's needs. He managed to keep our 9 year old daughter engaged with questions and jokes. He was very kind, patient and looked after us like his family members.

We would not have been able to have such a memorable experience of the city without Roobaroo walks.

Highly recommended them!!!

Enjoyed walking the gallis of Varanasi with Anupam who throws in a great mix of mythology, history and culture. The city has much to offer, and many hidden treasures, small shrines, tiny and intriguing little pathways. Our walk was well paced, sometimes brisk and then with just the right halts at places of interest. And great food – loved the kachoris.

Thank you so much to Anupam who showed us his Varanasi . He also accommodated a customised second walk as well as we were a little short on time .
He shared with us today a piece of his heart is what we felt.

I had heard so much about this walks from various friends and it was a pleasure to experience it first hand and can say that Varanasi without this guided tour wouldn’t have been so beautiful and meaningful .

He was patient, shared interesting stories obviously 😂and read some of his poetry. Overall Varanasi wouldn’t have been the same without him guiding us . Thanks and looking forward to the next one with the team .

Overall an amazing experience.Saurabh and Anupam made this memorable and wholesome .The history of Varanasi, its connection through the kashi vishwanath temple, the ghats, the alleyways, the tea shops and savouries, the electric tuk tuk and the chaotic streets with no anger but smiles on people's faces are so captivatingly described by these 2 storytellers, as they call themselves. Definitely one must make a visit in one's lifetime.
