What to Expect
Udaipur, commonly heralded one of India’s most spectacular cities, is bursting with scenic views and centuries-old marvels. Most visitors have trouble deciding where to start, but this private tour combines classic sights with a few behind-the-scenes excursions.
After your pickup from the hotel or train station in an air-conditioned car, head to 17th-century Jagdish Temple, a massive, glittering shrine dedicated to the Hindu god of preservation, Lord Vishnu. From there, you’ll head to the Crystal Palace, one of the largest palaces in the world, where you can view the sparkling wares on display in the crystal gallery for an extra expense.
Admire the ghats and floating palaces of Udaipur with a serene lakeside cruise on Pichola, followed by a local lunch. Then visit an 18th-century garden and summer palace, followed by a visit to a folk museum, before getting a look at the city’s thriving handicraft scene.
