Fantastic experience from start to finish. The bikes are top quality - we rented Kona Libres, and the suspension is absolutely necessary for Antigua's cobblestone streets. Our tour guide, Francisco, fitted us to our bikes before starting out on the trip, making sure that we were comfortable (I have a flimsy IT Band that can flare up, so this was especially important).

The ride itself was amazing! Each of the small communities had its own distinct feel in contrast to the decidedly international flair that Antigua has to offer. We road through the streets of Ciudad Vieja, San Gaspar Vivar (be prepared in advance for a heck of a climb there), and the many stops along the way. The community visits are all really interesting - make sure you sample all of the kumquat products, they're delicious!

All in all, the tour was exactly what we hoped for and more - a fantastic bike ride with quality gear and professional staff, and unique experiences for this slice of Guatemala. I'm already figuring out who among my friends I can get to head back down for another -- longer -- bike trip.

I booked two Old Town Outfitters mountain bike experiences when I was in Antigua and was incredibly happy with my experience. The location is centrally located and was east to get to. The front office team was very responsive and provided clear communication. They worked with me to find the experience that would be most enjoyable for me. Both experiences provided equipment that felt newer and safe, I was actually a bit surprise when I saw how nice the bike was.

I wanted to bike in and around Antigua. Old Town set me up on the Valley Ride one day and Las Tierras Altas “Lugo” on another day. My guide, Willy, was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared many interesting facts about Guatemala and I walked away feeling like I had experienced Guatemalan Culture while having a biking adventure.
Safety was a top priority for Willy and gave clear directions when riding and he consistently checked in to make sure everyone was feeling ok. In short, Willy is the man!

The Valley Ride provided more cultural experiences in the various towns surrounding Antigua. We were able to learn the history of the area and stopped at hand crafted wine, chocolate, and textile stores. As we rode through the streets of Guatemala you were
able to get a greater sense of day to day life. The Las Tierras Altas “Lugo” bike tour was a little farther out from Antigua, which I also loved. Here we got some amazing views of the Guatemalan landscape, volcanoes, and farmland. This was a nice change of pace from the more bustling riding experience around Antigua. All in all both tours were great and I am glad I did both because they really did offer different experiences.

I would highly recommended booking through Old Town Outfitters and hope to do one of their overnight adventures the next time I get back to Guatemala.

We just did the tour last Saturday, and it was amazing!! Our tour guide Josias carefully fitted us out with the correct sized equipment, and then took us on a whirlwind tour around Antigua. He was incredibly knowledgeable, and gave us a detailed explanation of all the many churches and parts of town we came across. We continued visiting a chocolate factory, saw a macadamia farm, and biked around the beautiful green outskirts of Antigua. Josias even bought us fruit from street vendors to help us get a good taste of Guatemala. Thanks for a really fun day!!

This tour was simply amazing. The guides were very knowledgeable, and more than willing to answer questions. We explored part of Antigua that many tourists miss, and found out much of the history from the area. This tour is a must for any history buffs, or anyone interested in learning more about the culture in Antigua. The Valhalla macadamia nut farm is a nice stop as well.

The Antiqua Valley Ride is an invigorating trek through small towns around Antiqua. Our guide David was very familiar with the terrain as well as the history of the area and patiently answered all of our questions. He also maintained a comfortable pace inspiring my complete confidence in his ability to get us around and back to Antiqua safely.
I highly recommend this excursion to anyone who is reasonably fit. You really don't need to be a tour de france level cyclist. (I had not been on a mountain bike EVER).
To note: OTO offers superb customer service!!

This was my fourth ride with OTO. Each time, I think it can’t get better....but it does. These people are true professionals who CARE about giving you an amazing ride with the best service. Our guide was Pepian - I could not believe how careful and thorough he was with his cycling instructions. And we learned so much interesting history from him! And then, 2/3 of the way through the trip, my cycling companion had a flat rear tire. How long did it take Pepian to patch it and keep us on our journey? 10 minutes!

I can not recommend these people highly enough. If you love cycling of any kind, you MUST go to Antigua and let OTO be your guide. You will love every minute!

The thing that stands out about this adventure was just how much I was able to see and do in just one week. Prior to the trip I was worried that a week would not be enough time to really dig in and have a fulfilling experience. That preconception was completely turned on its head thanks to the wonderful folks at Old Town Outfitters. Each day was like its own little mini adventure filled with new scenery, terrain, food and knowledge of the culture. Each day flowed perfectly into the next without becoming repetitive. I was blown away by the riding and scenery and will definitely be going back to explore more of this beautiful country. I highly recommend Old Town Outfitters to travelers who want to optimize their Guatemala adventure.

A friend and I went on the Antigua Valley Mountain Bike tour and it was a really wonderful experience. We had called that day, in the morning, and Mike was able to arrange a bike trip for later that day for the two of us, with Guide Willie. We had just arrived in Antigua and we were allowed to leave our suitcases in Oldtown Outfitters while we ate brunch and walked around town, which was extremely convenient. The tour itself was also excellent. As it was my first time mountain biking, Willie took the time to explain how the bike worked and make sure I was all set. Then we were off through and around neighboring towns. The ride was great, with only two challenging uphill sections. We visited a chocolate producer, wine-maker, and a macadamia farm, which were enjoyable and refreshing stops. It was more road biking than I had expected, alongside trucks, buses, and cars, but I still thought it was a great tour--not something that would be easily replicable on foot!
