        Well worth a visit
A most beautiful place to spend a day out of Bucharest. Need a good half day to get around it properly. The park next door and the lake is also just wonderful.

        Bucharest trip
The village has several buildings that were a real house from people all over the country. They moved the entire house to this village in order to recreate a real condition. Our tour guide, Mr. Bordan, knows a great deal of the Romenian history. In the wine tasting, we had a opportunity to taste 4 types of Romenian wine.

        Excellent business outing idea
The guide was very professional, had extensive knowledge about Romanian history and even the Romanians in the group learned new interesting facts. The wine bar was very cozy and the owner/staff are friendly and open. Excellent parings of wine and platers made this team outing a success.

        Very knowledgeable guide
We were a group of 25 people and we all were impressed by quality of information received from our tour guide, adding tons of value to the visit and making it memorable. Most us already visited Village Museum before, but never with a guide, and you could really feel you learn something new at each step. Everyone had a good time. At the end, at the wine bar, there is also the possibility to buy some wine.

Travel back in time into a Romanian village
It was a lovely place. We got a discount for being students. The place is well kept and everything is green and fresh. And places were under renovation, But it's a good sign. I definitely recommend it. Go visit village museum. It's like going back in time. There are plenty of huts and houses, churches etc. from all over of Romania of the 19th - 17th century - just in one place.

        Two tours and bonus
I am so impressed and grateful to have gone on this tour with Mihai. It was a beautiful day, we had no traffic and it was absolutely gorgeous. The best part was all of the information and great conversation with Mihai. I really got to understand who King Carol was, what Brasov was about and appreciated Queen Maria and her stay at Bran even more than the story of Dracula. It was beyond my expectations and I learned so much about Romania, Transylvania and the history. It is such a beautiful country and it matters so much to go with someone who is both knowledgeable and looks out for their guests l. I honestly cannot thank or recommend this tour enough. Mihai even took his time to give me a full itinerary for a free day I had and I am so glad I took his suggestions. I got to see and dine in amazing hidden gems.

        Excellent tour! Great guide!
Did a great day trip to Peles Palace, Bran Castle and Brasov. Mihai explained everything very well, knew many amazing photos spots to get the best shots from, and did his best to make sure the trip was wonderful. He is a very interesting person to tour with and we had a lot of great conversations on the road. I’m looking forward to going back to Romania again. Will definitely book with Mihai whenever I do go back.

This private tour was arranged for us my our travel agent, JayWay. We were so pleasantly surprise by Mihai Vataselu. Not only was he so knowledgeable, but he was very pleasant and accommodating for all the changes we made and how lovely of him to really work with us to get the best experience in Bucharest. I would highly recommend him for any of his tours!

        Amazing Guide! Fantastic Tour!
The highlight of our trip to Bucharest was a day trip to Transylvania with Mihai from Unveil Romania. We visited Peles Castle, Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress, and Brasnov old town. Mihai knows all of the best photo spots and patiently took photos of my husband and I. Mihai's knowledge and enthusiasm made the day one we will never forget. We voted him best tour guide ever! Thank you, Mihai for sharing your beautiful country with us.

        Wine tasting in Bucharest
This is an outstanding tour at a reasonable price. Our guide, Mihai, was very knowledgeable about the wines and the meats and cheeses were delicious. We had no idea Romanian wines were this good. But the best part was the knowledge and enthusiasm Mihai has for Romania and surrounding areas. His discussions and answer to our many questions motivated us to consider coming back on a tour he would lead in Bucharest and surrounding areas like Transylvania. What a blast! This wine tasting tour is not to be missed.

        Exceptional Bucharest Tour
We had limited time in this interesting city and were so pleased with our guide Michael (Mihai Vataselu) sharing his knowledge and love of Bucharest, answering our questions and offering insights into its culture and history.

        Brilliant 'Taste of Tranyslvania'
Visited late September 2018 but just found that my original review wasn't listed on the Viator site I booked it through. This was a brilliant tour from start to finish. Mihai was our guide. He was brilliant. His knowledge of Romania is amazing. We were picked up on time. We visited Peles Palas, Bran Castle and then Brasov. I can highly recommend this tour. I'd do it again without any hesitation.

        Thank you Mihai!
Booked a Bucharest city tour as well as Peles, Bran Castle & Brasov tour with Mihai. Really funny but very knowledgeable and passionate guy who tries to make Romania's history easy to understand. In particular, he made the outstanding Peles Castle come even more alive. Very importantly, his experience shows in how he manages the tours/visits and organizing other small aspects during the time together. Really happy and grateful to have Mihai on our trip as he was more than a guide.

We came to Bucharest two days ago knowing virtually nothing about the city. After taking the Ashes of Communism walking tour, we have a good understanding of how the city evolved, the conditions that existed before the Revolution in 1989, and how life in the city exists now. The tour included visits to a wide variety of buildings of the city but the focus of the tour was usually on how residents' lives were affected by the organizations that used the buildings. Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable. We appreciated that he was willing to adjust the tour to our interests and to share his views on how Romania is responding to life after the Revolution. We enjoyed the tour very much.

It was a pleasure dealing with Mihai to organise our walking tour.
We did a private walking tour that was a mix of the Ashes of Communism and the Belle Epoque architecture tours.

Our guide Emma met us right on time at our hotel.
What a wonderful lady! Emma was a mine of interesting facts, figures and dates. She was funny, warm and bubbly. We really enjoyed not just her skills as a guide but also her delightful personality.

Emma joined us for lunch after our tour. When the bill arrived it turned out she had asked the waiter for a separate bill. What a classy and professional lady. Most guides just assume the customer will pay. We had invited her and she was our guest but she had not expected that. I think that speaks volumes for her.

My 13 year old son and I booked The Ashes Of Communism tour this December due to us both having in interest in communism and the Cold War. I opted for this tour company due to the many good recommendations and we weren't disappointed.

Our guide, Emma, is an absolute gem. Very passionate about the city and Romania and her knowledge was exceptional. Very friendly, relaxed and her English is impeccable. We learned a great deal during the tour and Emma also recommended places to eat and visit during our time in Bucharest. This tour was much more enjoyable and personal than a group one and allowed us to be more fluid and adaptable if needed. I highly recommend the tour company (and Emma).

Myself and a group of 5 others hired Mihai for a private Communism tour. Mihai was great, not only with his knowledge but also in keeping us entertained and with his detailed and patient answers to our questions. Our group spanned about 3 generations and I know we all learned something new not only about Bucharest but about communism in general. Would highly recommend!

This was our first and our favorite tour while in Romania!! Emma was incredibly knowledgeable on Romanian history, not just Romanian communism!! She answered all our questions and told us a great skybar to go too! Lots of information and picked us up at our hotel which was incredibly convenient! Also showed us the alley with the umbrellas! An instagram lovers dream!! 🇷🇴

My wife and I had the pleasure of a private walking tour with Andra for the Ashes of Communism in Bucharest. To hear first hand accounts from Andra of the ordeal her family went through during the Communist leadership was heartbreaking. Andra was also so knowledgeable on the 1989 uprising and showed us specific locations involved in the uprising. If booking this tour in the future, we highly recommend that you request Andra.
