Essential Bucharest trip
Oct 2021 • Family
This trip is an essential if you visit Bucharest. We took the tour with One Excellence Tours and our guide was Marius. This is a full day trip. We were picked up promptly from our hotel.
It’s quite a long journey and we did stop at a service station for coffee.. Romanian service stations are a revelation .. nice coffee and very clean toilets!
To be honest we did the tour to see Bran Caste but Peles Castle was beautiful and in some ways the star of the tour. We had a guided tour from Marius and some free time to look around.
Next to Brasov for lunch and a brief tour of the old city. This a picturesque town with a back drop of the autumnal coloured Carpathian Mountains.
The final destination is Bram (Dracula’s) castle. This is a stunning building easier to access that i thought it would be although the entrance hill is quite steep. The views around the mountains are breathtaking as the autumn colours were vibrant and we were fortunate with the sunny weather.
I understand that Dracula is a legend from a book however i was hoping for a scarier visit! This does not stop the real story of the castle being interesting but if you are just going for Dracula you may be a bit disappointed.
The journey back to Bucharest from Bram is about 3 hours.
please be aware you will need to purchase tickets for the venues. Bram you can do online before the trip but you will need cash for Peles.. entrance is about 20 lei.
Marius was an excellent guide and the trip was really worthwhile .. if for nothing else the stunning mountain scenery.

A brilliant, informative, and very fun day trip to Transylvania!
Jan 2020
I went to Bucharest as a solo female traveler and wanted to find some way to be able to experience Transylvania without all of the hard work of catching trains! This was perfect. Yes, there is a lot of driving but the scenery is beautiful, and we had wifi on the bus too so I could post all of my photos on social media and send them to friends! We were lucky enough to have Serban Riga as our engaging guide and he was very knowledgeable, he had great facts and fun anecdotes about a lot of little places during our drives which made the few hours driving fun. He was also very good and clear about how much time we had in each place and making sure the group took these time limits seriously, so we were always running to schedule and that meant we could have a quick stop off at a distillery which was a great addition to the trip. Also shout out to our driver who was very nice and drove very safely up on the winding mountain roads which made me feel very safe! Thank you guys, I'll recommend this tour to everyone!

Serban was incredible!
Feb 2020 • Couples
Our tour was amazing! We visited during the low season, but we had great weather and plenty of time to see all the sites! Serban Riga was incredible, he was well Informed and gave us plenty of Information, but a sense of humor and enthusiasm! He helped us find the best places for photos and even gave us optional stops short stops that made the trip even more memorable! I would highly recommend taking a trip with him! We would happily go on another tour with him as our guide!

Fantastic Trip with Serban to the 2 castles and Brasov
We were picked up promptly and had a informative, chatty journey to our first destination (Peles Castle). Throughout the trip Serban (our guide) told us so much valuable and interesting information about the history of Romania. He was able to answer all of my questions. When we arrived at the castle Serban got us on an English speaking tour immediately and then arranged a meeting point for us. He was there on time and then took us to a brandy distillery on route to Brans Castle. Here we sampled some local palinka and learnt about how it was made. It was fascinating.
When we arrived at Brans Castle we were given lots of good advice and escorted to the entrance. We were able to see the torture rooms and tour the castle in good time. We also had an opportunity to take photos and have time for a drink and a snack. Serban then took us on to our next destination (Brasov). We had 2 hours there to explore. We went up in the cable car to the top to see the breath taking views of the medevial city. We also enjoyed a hot mulled wine.
We returned to our meeting point and then travelled back in good time to the City Centre. We were dropped back directly at our hotel which was very kind of Serban to go out of his way to do this.
Overall we had a lovely day, we saw and experienced so much and thanks to our fantastic tour guide we are very knowledgeable about the history of the wonderful country of Romania. We would definitely recommend the company travel maker and our guide Serban. A fantastic day out!

My boyfriend and I were really impressed with this tour. Our tour guide Laura was great as was our driver Peter. The locations were beautiful and the information we got from our guide was really interesting. I did feel a little rushed towards the end and felt it was a shame that I missed out on the hot wine but it didn't spoil the trip for me. Would highly recommend it.
