My sister and I just returned from a fantastic trip to the Sacred Valley. After doing a ton of research, we decided to engage the services of Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys for two days ... the first day to tour the Sacred Valley and Valentin’s farm, and the second day to tour Machu Picchu. Simon Puma expertly led us through both days.

The Sacred Valley tour started with a brief walk around the Ollantaytambo town center followed by climbing the Ollantaytambo ruins. Simon was extremely knowledgeable and maintained a pace that was comfortable for us. From there, we went to Valentin’s farm in Yauhaura. We met Valentin there, and he took us on a thorough tour of his farm, including the home where he grew up. We got an excellent briefing on life on the farm before being led to a beautiful dining area for lunch.

The chef had carved fruits and vegetables to make beautiful arrangements for the table ... what a nice way to start the meal. The incredible meal consisted of quinoa pilaf, a potato/avocado dish, fresh salad, and trout from a nearby stream. Dessert is a tree tomato in a cream sauce. We were completely blown away by the lunch.

From there, we departed for Chinchero to visit a women’s weaving cooperative that was both informative and interactive. Then we went to Maras which where a salt quarry is located. Unfortunately because it is the rainy season, there is not really much to see. We head into Moray to visit the ruins. Simon understands that we’re getting a bit tired, and he obliges when we say we’re ready to return to our hotel.

The next morning Simon meets us at Aguas Calientes and leads us through Machu Picchu. He really brings the ruins to life for us. We ask many questions, and he provides thoughtful answers. We spend several hours in the ruins before heading back to town for lunch.

While Machu Picchu was amazing I must say that the day we went on the tour of Valentin’s farm was the highlight of the trip. I highly recommend Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys to anyone who wants personalized attention by knowledgeable guides.

My wife and I did a private Sacred Valley tour with Valentine. As the other reviewers have said, Valentine is the real deal. He is an excellent tour guide and we highly recommend him. The one-day tour with Valentine and his brother Cesar, who drove the SUV, was the highlight of our honeymoon in Peru.

From the moment we were picked up at our hotel in Urubamba until the end of the day, Valentine went out of his way to teach us about the history of Peru and also told us about current events in Peru. He was extremely knowledgeable and such a pleasure to talk to and learn from.

We had a lot of fun exploring the different sites throughout the day, and Valentine gave us plenty of time to do our own thing as well. He was always professional, which is a great quality to have as a guide. If you’re on the fence about who to book as a guide for the Sacred Valley or Machu Picchu (like I was) choose Valentine! You won’t regret it!

What an incredible way to explore the Sacred Valley. I truly can’t think of a better way to have spent a day in this area. Valentin and Kenny went above and beyond to help me learn more about life as a local. The time we spent at each place was well paced, not rushed at all like many other tours can be in this area. A perfect mix of educational, entertaining and enlightening. I will cherish this experience forever!

One of the absolute best tour operators in Peru. You can’t go wrong with them.

Our time touring the sacred valley, Valentin’s farm, the school, and sites in Cusco were huge highlights in my wife and i’s trip to Peru.
not only was Valentin’s English and translation skills amazing. The care Valentin put into making our visit memorable was evident at all times.

Our luggage was lost at the airport and when it did finally turn up we were taken to the airport, given time to get ourselves ready and then taken on an amazing tour.

Thank you Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys for everything!

My husband and I booked a tour with Valentine's Pachamama Journeys and couldn't have been happier. It was truly an amazing cultural experience. Our guide Carlos was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We also had a driver (Julio) who took photos and videos of our trip and then sent them to us, which was totally unexpected. This allowed us to just enjoy the experience. I highly recommend booking a tour with this company. They are very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable.

These guys are truly the best! We were originally scheduled to do a three day homestay, trek, Machu Picchu tour but a few days before our arrival, Valentin contacted us to let us know there was going to be a strike in the area and the roads near our hotel would be completely blocked off. We needed to stay in a different area but our hotel would not refund our money on that late of notice. Valentin arranged a homestay for us (Free of charge) so we could continue with our plans. Unfortunately, my daughter got altitude sickness and we spent the day with her at the homestay, unable to leave for the trek. Valentin and Deyvi were so understanding. They immediately offered alternatives, made arrangements and by late that afternoon when she was feeling better, we started on a different adventure. We spent the next four days with them. They were so flexible and patient. Very knowledgeable about the culture and history. I absolutely loved our homestay with Sonya. She was the sweetest lady. I truly felt like I was able to experience a small piece of the real Peru. We got to see much of the big Tourist sites such as Pisac and Machu Picchu, but mixed in were these wonderful, "Real" experiences, such as the homestay and visiting the farm. Deyvi took us to a wonderful market where we tasted amazing fruits we had never seen before. We hiked a remote section of the Inca trail that had a beautiful waterfall where we didn't see another hiker the entire trek. I felt like we got the best of both worlds. What could have been a disaster with some tour groups turned out to be one of the best trips I have ever had! On our last day in Peru, we decided to roam around Cusco and do our own thing, but our flight to Lima didn't depart until that evening. We had no where to keep our luggage. Of course, Valentin came to our rescue. Their group kept if for us for the day, arranged a pick-up time, met us with our luggage and drove us to the airport. Simply the most personalized service I have ever experienced.

It's a great choice if you are leaving Cusco, and want to end up in Urubamba, seeing many of the sights in between. Valentin guided, and Daniel, his brother, drove the Hyundai Santa Fe. We were very comfortable and well cared for.
The most unique aspect was lunch and visit to a family farm, worked for three generations, complete with the guinea pigs on the kitchen floor of the farm house (not where we ate!) and Valentin knows everything about everything growing in the garden.
This is a nice way to break up overload of historic subject matter like Pisac and Ollantaytambo with something different.
You don't have to do this tour one way, but it's nice that they offer the flexibility to have a guided tour and a safe transport to Urubamba all-in-one.

Valentin's Pachamama (Mother Earth) Journeys was the highlight of our entire trip in Peru. They were more than a 5 star rating - they are a perfect 10! Our tour was nothing short of amazing - Daniel and Deybi picked us up from out hotel. Extremely nice to be on a private tour in a larger SUV with plenty of space. Also, you can bring your camera gear, extra jackets, etc. with you and leave them in the car while you tour. Deybi did a fantastic job of explaining the culture, tradition, and history of the people. Answering all of our questions with a smile. The farm tour was a real treat because we experienced chicha in a legit chichaeria (the red flag!). Then lunch. Lunch was amazing to sit and enjoy the beautiful view, fantastic food, and company of our guides. After lunch, a quick tour of the farm where we helped to cut alfalfa for the cuy (guinea pigs). Daniel and Deybi were so accommodating. We passed the Sacred Valley Brewing Company on the way to Ollantaytambo and made the decision to stop for a taste on the way back to Urubamba. Cheers!
Overall, Valentin's Pachamama Journeys treat you like family. They take you to their home, share a meal with you, and share their passion with you. If you want personalized service at its best, choose Valentin's Pachamama. My only regret was that we did not book EVERY tour with them!

I booked the "Private Ollantaytambo and Pisac Ruins Tour Including Farm Visit and Gourmet Picnic Lunch" tour through Viator and my husband and I were presently surprised with the attention to detail that Herlin gave in our tour.

The itinerary is well laid out as we were able to experience both the Ollantaytambo and Pisac ruins pretty much to ourselves since they timed our visit such that most of the other tour groups weren't there (earlier in the day for Ollantaytambo and later in the day for Pisac). The farm visit in between gave us a great glimpse into the life of a local Sacred Valley farmer. The farm was beautiful, and the lunch was fresh and delicious (they ask you ahead of time if you have any dietary restrictions)! We were really grateful for the family's hospitality as well for allowing us to visit their farm.

We've traveled to several countries and have used Viator before but have never experienced such a well organized private tour before we met Herlin through Valentin's Pachamama Journeys. He seemed to have extensive knowledge of the ruins and the Sacred Valley area as a local, and we liked that he showed us photos in a reference book which helped us get a better understanding of how the Inca operated during their time. The private drive between the sites also gave us time to talk about the local customs that are still in use today, which was a nice touch. We highly recommend this tour!

Hola Jessica, Thank you for this amazing review. We are really happy that you enjoyed your tour and especially visiting my family farm and we loved the photos of you driving the bulls. We are so glad that you had a great time with Herlin. We think he is fantastic also! We always use local guides with in depth local knowledge so that we can connect you to the heart of the Incas. Thanks so much for appreciating the organization. Your are words are the batteries that keep us going :). Saludos from the farm, the Pachamama team.
