Select Date and Travellers
2 travellers
This is a unique Lares trek as it takes you off-the-beaten path and through a trail not used by any others. You will pass isolated communities like Cancha Cancha, where no bus gets there. You will see stunning lakes and scenery and then enjoy a private, guided tour in Machu Picchu. This is a small-group tour including fresh meals and the best camping equipment and you can enjoy the hot springs in Lares. You will be able to interact with the locals as you go and be amazed when you visit the magical ruins of Machu Picchu.
  • No planning necessary on this ambitious Lares trek with Machu Picchu tour
  • Most meals provided, as well as all overnight accommodations
  • All camping and personal equipment carried by horses and mules
  • Reach areas of the Andes only accessible on foot
What to Expect
Begin your tour with pickup at your Cusco hotel. Depart for Pumahuanca, where your belongings are loaded on horses or mules and the trail starts. Trek to the remote village of Cancha Cancha, where you spend the night. On the second day, follow your guide through Pachacutec Pass for views of Pachacutec Lake and the snowy peaks of Pitusiray. Stop for lunch at a quarry overlooking nearby glacial lakes, and head for the village of Quisuarani, where you camp for the night. Day three takes you to the town of Lares for lunch and a soak in the hot springs. You then take a bus bound for Ollantaytambo. After free time and dinner, catch a train for Aguas Calientes for a night in a  hotel. The last day includes an early breakfast and a bus to Machu Picchu for a guided tour.
