Lares Trek to Machu Picchu Including Hot Springs
From US$625.00
Overview
Leave the logistics and planning to experts on this 3-night guided trek of Peru's rugged Lares trail, ending in a guided Machu Picchu tour. Trekking this region independently can be daunting, and booking a guided tour ensures your safety and comfort along the way, with porters and mules to carry belongings and a chef. Visit the Andean village of Cancha Cancha, see pristine alpine scenery, and camp under the stars.
What to Expect

Begin your tour with pickup at your Cusco hotel. Depart for Pumahuanca, where your belongings are loaded on horses or mules and the trail starts. Trek for about four hours to the remote village of Cancha Cancha, where you spend the night.

On the second day, follow your guide through Pachacutec Pass for views of Pachacutec Lake and the snowy peaks of Pitusiray. Stop for lunch at a quarry overlooking nearby glacial lakes, and head for the village of Quisuarani, where you camp for the night.

Day three takes you to the town of Lares for lunch and a soak in the hot springs. You then take a bus bound for Ollantaytambo. After free time and dinner, catch a train for Aguas Calientes for a night in a  hotel.

The last day includes an early breakfast and a bus to Machu Picchu for a guided tour.

On the traditional trek part of the Sacred Valley is done on the first day before you begin trekking. Then you head up to about 4000 meters. We did a whole two days in Cusco before we started the trek so we were able to do... More
