- damienbD4378GL0 contributionsIncredible tour of a must see part of Hong KongI had an amazing time on this tour to Lantau Island. The whole trip was organised seamlessly and my guide Becky was super well versed and knowledgeable throughout the whole trip. The tour never felt rushed and we had adequate time to explore each location. Would highly recommendWritten 23 March 2025
- J V0 contributionsNice tourIt was a nice tour but there was no cable car ride, so a long time on the bus. The tour guide was helpful. The vegetarian lunch was great.Written 23 March 2025
- Stefaan d0 contributionsNo show from the guideUnreliable and bad agency. As we could not locate the guide at the morning of the scheduled tour we called the operator. He told us not to worry and call us back. While waiting for his call he cancelled the tour. When i called again he mentioned again no worries, we will refund. I hope we will get our money back, but point is that the only day we have in Hong Kong during our stopover is now badly influenced and we have to make a new plan for the day at the very last moment. Memory tours leaves us with bad memoriesWritten 21 March 2025

From checking in with us to assure we would be able to navigate the train stations. To being informative and willing to help anybody on the tour with anything. She was very attentive to us being Muslim and making sure we did not eat anything with pork. She was very funny and kept things interesting. I would 100% book more tours in the future with Grace the next time I visit HongKong. I will be sure to let my friends know to request her tour when they visit HongKong.Written 19 March 2025
- Meagan W0 contributionsGreat tour for first timers. Not allergy friendly.Gary our guide was very knowledgeable. He was clear up front that it was a walking tour and what was included. We had a really good day with him. The dim sum lunch is not good if you have allergies. There are peanuts in the dim sum. The ferry ride was nice to see Kowloon. The peak tram was cool but soooo crowded.Written 18 March 2025

Had a great day out with Angela visiting Lan Tau island. After arriving at Tung Chung station from HK station, we boarded a bus for a 50-minute drive round the island before arriving at the fishing village. Boarded a boat to go dolphin spotting (sadly didn't see any) before docking at the village for a quick walk round. It's interesting but basically a shanty town.
Back on bus to the Big Buddha and the temple which was pretty good and not overly busy since it's a big site.
Got a vegetarian lunch which was ok for a filler. Took the optional cable car down which was fantastic. Great views and let's you marvel at the sheer scale of building going on eg the massive airport created on reclaimed land.
Good day and much better than the higher priced city walking tour we did the previous day

Visiting the Big Buddha on Lantau Island with my family was a remarkable and enriching experience. The journey itself, either by cable car or bus, set the tone for the day. We chose the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, and it was a thrill for everyone in the family, offering stunning panoramic views of the island, lush green mountains, and the South China Sea. My son was especially excited by the glass-bottomed cabins, which added a fun element to the ride.
When we arrived at the Ngong Ping Village, the atmosphere was peaceful yet lively, filled with traditional architecture and shops selling souvenirs and snacks. The Big Buddha statue came into view as we walked closer, and it was truly awe-inspiring. Standing at 34 meters tall, the statue is a magnificent symbol of peace and spirituality. The serene surroundings made it a perfect spot for reflection, and we spent a few moments just taking in the sight before starting the climb up the 268 steps.
Once at the top, the view was absolutely breathtaking. We could see the lush landscapes of Lantau Island stretching out below us, and the gentle breeze added to the tranquil atmosphere, it was a beautiful moment to share as a family.
We also visited the nearby Po Lin Monastery, which offered more opportunities to explore Buddhist culture. The intricate architecture and peaceful gardens were a nice contrast to the grandeur of the Big Buddha. We made time for a vegetarian meal at the monastery’s restaurant, which was delicious and a nice way to immerse ourselves further in the experience.
Overall, the visit to the Big Buddha on Lantau Island was a perfect family outing. The combination of natural beauty, cultural exploration, and the sense of tranquility made it a memorable experience for all of us. It’s a place where you can relax, learn, and enjoy time together as a family in a unique and spiritual setting. I would highly recommend it for families seeking both adventure and cultural enrichment.

The tour was a bit pricey but it fits busy people like me who doesn’t have time to plan a day tour. The tour guide also explained a lot of things along the way which makes the trip worth the price. We wouldn’t have bothered to check up the place or the history if we went by ourselves

We booked this trip the day before and received the details that it was all confirmed. Meeting time was 10:30am outside an MTR station exit B. We were there from 10:15am. Half an hour later no sign of the guide. We called the company.
They said they would contact the guide. We got a call then from the guide Ben asking us to hurry up and run over to the bus station. He was very rude to begin with considering the error was not ours. We were at the right place but no apology. He just said he never knew we were coming.
We then had to sit on a public bus for 45 mins to bring you to a fishing village. Not a great experience. The village is nice. You then get taken in a little boat for about 10 mins. It’s just goes up yen canal out to sea for 5 mins and then back in. Only ok. We then have to take another public bus for 12 mins. This brought us up to big Buddha. The guide Ben did a good job explaining everything around big Buddha and the temples.
We then stopped for food. The food is awful. The guide buys 4 big plates of noodles and shares them out onto smaller plates. Then a spring role and a rice pie thing and a pancake. Not great at all. You then get 30 mins to go see big Buddha and meet back. The guide encourages you to take the Cable cart down which is not included in your package so you have to pay $195 each to take this.
Overall thoughts, just do it yourself. Very easy to find it on the MTR and then take the cable cabin. We paid €174 for two of us and definitely not worth it.

Our day started at the meeting point at MTR station. We had to text our guide Ben the night before several times to confirm the pick up time. Pick up was confirmed as 1030, however we did not actually leave until almost 11am as we were waiting for other guests. We then took a bus ride to Tai O fishing village. The transport is a public bus which the guide pays for. It was very cramped and took around 45 minutes. Ben then shown us around the village & explained the history, very informative. Snack and water were available & we also had a short boat ride included. We then took another public bus to Big Buddah, again the guide pays for this. Very cramped like the last journey, but this only takes around 15mins.
Upon reaching big Buddah we walked around as a group with Ben explaining various things. The group then took lunch together, again this was included in the price. This included veg noodles, spring roll & dumpling. After lunch we had approx 45 mins free time to go up to the top of the Buddah.
We decided not to take the public bus back with the group & opted to pay extra to take the cable cars back down. The views were amazing and well worth the ride.
Overall, we had a good day. However, I do feel the trip is very overpriced & could easily be done independently without an organised tour guide.

A great workout climbing to top of Buddha and well-worth the climb. Coming early in AM means you should bring a jacket or else you will be cold. Tai O village is a bus ride away and shows another aspect of the island

Was a great day. Met our guide Angela and she was excellent! Good English , very informative of area, facts, and personal stories . Tour to fishing village was on a mountainous windy narrow road on a local bus. Hard to believe for us that this way of life still exists , especially after leaving the concrete high rises, business of Kowloon . Tasted fish balls ( not gonna lie …couldn’t do more than a nibble )
Next was the monastery and Buddha. Again Angela provided history, beliefs and personal stories. After your time there we opted to leave the group and do some souvenir shopping , have local beer and wings ( so tasty) and ride team back to Lantau station . We had no problem getting a taxi and return to our hotel
Was a full day experience !

A must when in Hong Kong. Cable car journey and the view were amazing. It can be very long queue so go early. We went on Wednesday and around 11 am. It was HK$270 for standard and HK$360 for the Crystal Cable Car!

Is there a specific time slot for the Ngong Ping 360 so we can pre-purchase our tickets so we don't have to wait in queue? Or do most travelers just purchase the cable cart upon arrival?
