About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Gerry_W_Reisenberger0 contributionsOverpriced and endless queuesThe cable car ride itself is a nice experience. But the waiting times are outrageous. First you have to queue up for a ticket. Even when you have your ticket pre-booked, and you can use the pre-booked ticket line, there are even longer lines for boarding the cabin. 30 minutes to 1 hour waiting time is normal. Additionally, there are frequent technical issues or delays due to the weather. This then completely halts the service with visitor numbers backing up. And if your timing is a bit off, you have the same issue on the way back. Naturally the operators just want you to buy the Crystal Cabin, which offers you a dedicated line for boarding which generally is much quicker. But the prices for that are just outrageous, and not worth the cable car ride. If you just want to go up the mountain to see the Buddha statue and you are not too interested in the cable car ride itself, you’re far better off taking public transport or even a taxi.Written 9 November 2024
- 67henril0 contributionsScammersScammers!!! You pay for a return ticket and you come back before the announced hour because of the strong winds and the cable car is still suspended?!!! 😡 I want a refundWritten 8 November 2024
- jarowatkins0 contributionsNice Buddha but overratedThe queues to get on the cable car both ways were horrendous! Once there the Buddha and monastery were beautiful. Very touristy overpriced and like Disney on a busy day!Written 7 November 2024
- funtravel050 contributionsCalm and sereneVery serene place. Very calm and beautiful view. We were there at sunset and it was an awesome sight. The statue itself is a monument of calm. I was taken aback by the wonderful craftsmanship that has gone in the making of this magnanimous structure especially the eyes of The Budha.Written 2 November 2024
- bernetaa0 contributionsMust see in Hong KongMy husband said this was one of the highlights of our Hong Kong trip, and I have to agree—if you’re in Hong Kong, especially on Lantau Island, this is a must-do to see the big Buddha at the top. I was mentally preparing for long lines after reading reviews and seeing photos - but our secret weapon? Arriving a couple of hours before the last cable car comes down at 6 PM. No crowds, just us and the views! A round-trip ticket costs around HK$270, and honestly, why would anyone buy a one-way ticket unless you’re planning to hike down? We saw people tackling that trail up, it looked like a never-ending stairmaster. My husband claims he did that hike growing up, and it took six hours. Six. Hours. Yeah, that’s a hard pass for me. Give me the 25-minute cable car ride with panoramic views any day! If I had to recommend the perfect time to come down from the mountain I'd say go for 6pm at sunset. Watching the sun dip below the mountains and reflect off the ocean? Absolute magic. The cable cars are surprisingly roomy, fitting about 8 people, but because we showed up just before closing, it was practically empty. The cars are well-ventilated too, so you won’t feel like you're roasting in there. The ride itself was super smooth, and everyone at customer service was incredibly helpful and spoke English. All in all, it was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—without the sweat of hiking for hoursWritten 17 October 2024
- Ricardo Jorge J0 contributionsgood, fantastic and beautiful, it is recommended for those who are afraid of heightsTo reach the Tian Tan Buddha, you will need to board the Ngong Ping 360, a cable car that connects Tung Chung to Ngong Ping. The journey takes around 25 minutes, with one of the most beautiful views of Hong Kong. Tip: if you're brave enough (and a few extra bucks), opt for the crystal cabin, with a glass floor! It will be an extra dash of adrenaline on your tour..Written 25 September 2024
- alant8890 contributionsNgong Ping 360 Cable Car and the Big Buddah on Lantau Island. This was a fantastic experience and is one of our highlights to Hong Kong, China. The Cable Car is somewhat expense but well worth it. The journey is 5 kilometers from the base station to the Big Buddha which is yet another feat of engineering. Make sure you are fit to take on all those steps. Also visit the Monastery which is within easy walking distance. Lantau Island is not as busy as Hong Kong Island but the Ferry journey is only about 30 minutes and is relatively inexpensive if you have an Octopus Card. Obtain one at the airport on your way in and pensioners obtain a 50% reduction on the normal price.Written 19 September 2024
- zandaleee0 contributionsBeautiful and FastTook the 360 cable car to the island, beautiful views all round, a great relaxing trip with clean cable cars. Beautiful views of the city and Lantau Island at a good costWritten 11 September 2024
- valdX1894KL0 contributionsLovely ViewsWe loved the Crystal Cabin and were lucky to travel on a clear, sunny day so we were able to see the scenery well and ride was fantastic and had lots of great views to photograph. We just purchased tickets and went independently as none of the tours suited us. With the money we saved we took a cab to Chung Tung and it was absolutely worth it to drive over some of the lovely bridges between the islands. We found the climb to Big Buddha pretty easy (we are fit seniors) especially as we went early to avoid the heat of the day. The temple and gardens were lovely and being early it was not crowded. There were plenty of places to buy drinks and lunch.Written 1 September 2024

- valdX1894KL0 contributionsGreat Rife but leave plenty of time for travel to the Cable Car terminalWell worth the money, we went early and arrived just as they opened so avoided the long queues and got through quickly The Crystal cabin is worth the extra money. .Written 28 August 2024
- KaFaiC170 contributionsWorst and unprofessional adverse weather arrangementThe worst experience I have ever had. It seems that they had no plan for adverse weather. All staff members were very unprofessional. They knew nothing about the arrangement. Everything seemed to be a last minute thing. The adverse weather warning was up few hours ago but their special arrangement was extremely slow and unprofessional. It took almost an hour back to Tung Chung which I believe it would be much faster if they could prepare better. This experience should not worth 270HKD. I think 27HKD already too much.Written 28 August 2024
- IanN5770 contributionsPoor serviceWasted a whole day because they can’t cope when something out of the normal happens, an organisation like this should be better prepared if the weather turns bad. Stood for 2hrs without any water and then when they did get the cable car going again everyone stood around on radios not quite sure what to do meanwhile the cars were going back down empty, very poor service with poor communication won’t be recommending this to anyone.Written 12 August 2024
- Flee4560 contributionsNgong Ping Cable carWe rode both the crystal cabin and standard cabin with their promo. While still an expensive way to get to Lantau Island, it was definitely an unforgettable ride. The crystal cabin was definitely a lot more thrilling, offering 360 degree views though if you have a fear of heights the standard cabin would be a good option. If you plan to see the Giant Buddha, enjoy lunch and do a little shopping on Lantau Island this scenic 25 minute ride is a great way to see the island- and a great change of scenery from the skyscrapers in Hong Kong.Written 8 August 2024
- Mario G0 contributionsTickets too expensiveToo expensive more than $100 for 2 adults and 2 kids. I would not buy these again. It’s crowded and not worth the time.we got here early and there were already long lines. It’s was a long wait. The Buddha and the view was nice but too much.Written 5 August 2024

It is not even near central Hong Kong...some 24km or 15 miles away which makes getting there almost more expensive and confusing to any ne tourist. I wasted $156 unrefundable dollars from not realizing how far away from our hotel on Chai Wan road in Central Hong Kong. No one was friendly at the company that sold our voucher. I highly recommend taking Peak Tram instead and forgetting Ngong Ping cable car.

I went here with my family. It was worth it. The crystal cabin glass was clear and clean. We cpukd really see the view clearly from all angles. The cabin was also well circulated and cool. I thought tere was airconditioner. It is a great way to reach the Big Buddha. I definitely recommend you try this.

I have been there twice, the first time was on winter when the sky was foggy and very cold, nothing could be seen and it's a huge suffering to be locked inside the fridge like compartment. The second time was autumn, where the sky was clear, and the views were amazing. Check the weather before you go.

Great view from the crystal bottom cable car. Well maintained facilities, cable car. A truly enjoyable ride. The view would have been even better if not for the haze.

We were really lucky when we decided to take the cable car as there was no queue whatsoever. We opted for the crystal cabin to gain a better experience and managed to get a car just for the two of us. The views are spectacular and a great photo opportunity. It was well worth the money to travel for nearly 30 minutes.

I’ve been to many different places especially those “glass bridges” in China. This cable car experience was definitely one of the best I’ve been to. Not only that the view from the journey was amazing while you get to see the Hong Kong International airport from a top angle, it also gives me a very safe feeling riding it. This is by far the safest cable car I’ve experienced. Definitely recommending to those who might consider going. Two thumbs up!
