the other side of Hong Kong
um Pui’s tour secrets of Kowloon promised to show us the othe, less glitzy side of Hong Kong, where ordinary people lived. Sun Pui is knowledgeable, energetic an devote to educating his guests on the complex social background of his hometown, of which he is justly proud. He met guided us from the Marriott lobby to the MTR to a Kowloon’s San Wai estate housing in Shek Kip Mei Estate Hong Kong built in 1953 after a fire destroyed the neighborhood of migrants from the mainland. It’s been completely redeveloped and looks almost new. These housing estates built by the Brits in the 50s and 60s, and now in the process of renovation for select low income HK residents and merchants . Nearby, another older complex is being renovated and sits empty behind bar wire, surrounded construction sheds, a few scraps of forgotten or discarded laundry clinging to its balconies. We then visited tht Tai Hang Estate, a w rise complex. Its markets are vibrant and stocked with delicious vegetables and even some live chickens, frogs and fish. There are play yards, sports courts interspersed with the residences, which are midrise apartment blocks whose balconies are draped with drying laundry. The apartments and public spaces are inviting and well maintained, and in the shops and restaurants everything is half the price in subsidized Kowloon than in the Admiralty. This subsidized enclave contrasts with its overcrowded, neighbor, where market rents are double for inferior flats, and the markets are more desperate: commerce trades in second hand shoes, obsolescent electronics, used power drills, it seems impossible, but the impoverished neighborhood seems safer than LA, or even Bangkok, and boasts dynamite noodle shops with Michelin street food accolades. The Catholic church is surprisingly prominent in Hong Kong despite its British Protestant influences and mainland Chinese influences. He pointed us to the Man Kei Card noodle shop where we enjoyed delicious noodles recommended by Michelin

      Hidden Gems - Must See
Sherman was our Guide for this tour and it was absolutely a pleasure to be with her for 4 hours. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for Hong Kong Island was so enjoyable. She navigated us to places we would not have known about easily. We were able to see and do so much in a short amount of time. If you are visiting Hong Kong I highly recommend this tour.

Walking tour with mass transit to get around.
Walking tour using mass transit. Didn’t really know what the itinerary was but it was fine. We ended up with 2 guides instead of 1 for the 4 of us. They were young, helpful, and knowledgeable.

      An afternoon in Hong Kong
We had a 6 hour tour with Matteo in the beautiful city of Hong Kong. And although 6 hours is not a lot of time, Matteo did a masterful job of showing us many of the highlights of the city. Having lived in the city for 27 years, he was very informative with the major points of the city and many of the lesser known bits of information. If you're going to be visiting Hong Kong any time soon, I highly recommend asking Matteo to be your guide!

      Great Night!
We enjoyed good samples and learned a lot about life in Hong Kong. The tastings were interesting. Matteo gave good advice for future exploration of Hong Kong. We were tired so our pace was slow but he adjusted.

      Great Hong Kong Tour
My wife and I had a terrific evening with Matteo. We explored Hong Kong and saw places we never would have seen (or realized their meaning) if we didn’t take the tour. We only had 1 full day in Hong Kong and this was a great way to get the feel of the city. We appreciated Matteo’s story telling and familiarity with the locals

Great night market tour with Cosmo
We did the night market tour with Cosmo. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and his English was very good. He answered all my questions and even told us about his life and how he grew up in Hong Kong and where he’s traveled. We walked around the flower market, Ladies market and took the tram to the Temple Street night market. We sampled 4 street food items and 1 drink. We didn’t leave overly full which was ideal and we saw some areas we never knew existed. Cosmo even made sure our Uber picked us up before leaving us. Would definitely book again with Cosmo and recommend him for tours around Hong Kong

A must when in Hong Kong
Sum is one of the best tour guides I had on a trip. I think doing this tour is a must when in Hong Kong. We often tend just to want to get as many tourist spots as possible, but without appreciating the details and history of a place. Sum lets you immerse Hong Kong in its very core and I appreciate how much time we have spent which is worth every minute of this tour. There is no dull moment, but he also does not rush you into seeing all the sights as well. He has a good sense of humor and a good command of the English language. Another good detail is that he gets to know the person he is with, the nationality, and culture which is a good touch in my opinion. I’ll book him again when we get back to Hong Kong.

Authentic HK Street Life Comes Alive
This is my second tour with Matteo and I had requested to not repeat locations from our first tour. He was very proactive with suggestions and planned a seamless and stimulating walk where I could experience and capture the energy of the local neighbourhoods, temples and markets. We covered a lot of ground and I would not been able to see so many sights if I had tried to find them on my own. He was very knowledgable and shared stories that only a long-time HK resident would know. The tour was a highlight of my trip and Matteo's expert guiding presents this vibrant city as a gem that deserves many visits and discovery.

Super interesting to get some insider info
Angel is a natural. She’s attentive and informative. The tour in the public housing history display was very well done and taught us a lot. She was professional and easy to chat with. She even followed up with restaurant recommendations based on what we had discussed. Pick Angel!

Recently, my partner and I had the pleasure of joining Caleb's Hong Kong Food Tour, which was a delightful experience that we would highly recommend to anyone
    visiting this city.

From the very beginning, Caleb was attentive and accommodating, sending us a series of questions to help personalize the tour for our preferences and dietary needs.

Throughout the tour, we were taken to various hidden gems and local eateries that showcased the rich and diverse culinary scene of Hong Kong. Caleb's knowledgeable insights into each dish's added to the overall experience.

The tour ended at around 5 pm, leaving us feeling satisfied yet not overly full.

Caleb's warm personality, extensive knowledge, and attention to detail made this food tour a good experience in Hong Kong. We highly recommend joining him
for a taste of the city!

This was a fantastic experience. Emcee knows so much about the food culture in Hong Kong. She has a great personality, speaks very clear English and trotted us around Hong Kong on a rainy day. Despite the weather, the experience was delicious and informative. I would highly recommend signing up with her.

I recently had a food tour in Hong Kong with Emcee, who was incredibly knowledgeable, flexible, and accommodating. She tailored the tour to suit my dietary needs and preferences and time constraints, ensuring I had a truly personalized experience.
The food was delicious, with each stop offering a unique and authentic taste of Hong Kong's culinary scene. What impressed me most was Emcee's expertise in navigating Hong Kong's hidden gems. I would have never discovered these local eateries on my own, which made this tour truly special.
If you're a food enthusiast looking to explore Hong Kong's culinary depths, look no further. This tour is a must-do, and I couldn't recommend it more.

Stay away. I made an online reservation for a private tour. Two days before the tour the Company charged my credit card for the cost of the tour (48 hours before the tour is its policy to charge the fee). The very next day, 24 hours before the tour, it cancelled as it stated its only tour guide could not provide the tour due to personal reasons. The Company offered to provide the tour the following day but our itinerary was already set. I requested a refund and have yet to receive it, nor any communications that it would be refunded.

First, I believe the tour company should have advised us to move the private tour to another day as many places were closed due to CNY. The guide suggested we move to another neighborhood to have more selection, which we did. He did not suggest rescheduling.

Upon arrival, it became clear that the guide did not have a plan for the tour and was wandering around looking for any open restaurant and made us feel silly for booking on CNY (we are not local..so we didn’t know would still be closed days later. I’m not clear why they accepted the booking). we suggested rescheduling but he said it was too late.

Second, when we found any open restaurants (that the guide had never tried), he did not provide recommendations on what to try. He just said ‘what do you want to try’ and when we asked for his recommendation, he shrugged his shoulders. He even commented that some of the dishes we had were not the best (ie. the goose from this place was prepared too salty). After 8 tastings, he told us that we ‘went over budget’ which made the experience even more uncomfortable. It was supposed to be ten and we even shared many of the dishes to avoid being wasteful, and it was not our fault that he did not have a plan set out in advance.

Ultimately, we could have had the same experience wandering around the neighborhood ourselves and looking up reviews online. And saved a lot of money. I expected the guide to at least call a few places in advance and have a sense of where he was going to take us - even if some first choices were closed. Disappointing as we’ve done food tours in other places (with other companies) and they’ve always been a lot of fun.

What an excellent introduction to Hong Kong Central. As a first timer in Hong Kong I had lots of questions about where to go, what to eat and what the protocols around this are. All of these questions were answered and that gave me the confidence to get way more out of this trip.
Caleb was great!, super easy going and really knowledgeable about the local area and the different types of local cuisine that should be tried (complete with stories of his Grandma). The pace of the tour was good and we even managed to pack in some key historical sites.
Would highly recommend this for first timers to Hong Kong, or frequent travelers who want to know the best secret eating spots.
    Thanks Caleb for awesome tour.

My husband and I enjoyed our evening with Cosmo and experiencing the local food of Hong Kong. It was a little different than I expected as Hong Kong does not do street food as we had experienced in other cities like Bangkok or Singapore. Instead, Cosmo took us to several local restaurants where we experienced food as the locals would eat. Don't let his initial quiet demeanour fool you, he is a very interesting and talented guy who has adventurously travelled the world solo. It was interesting to learn about his family and see some of his art work. He also told us about the history of the Hong Kong as we travelled around (and took the tram) and it was great to have him talk about the street art as well. A very good evening and highly recommended.

Angel is just that — an angel. Funny, sweet, outgoing, personable and extremely knowledgeable about her native Hong Kong, the sights and of course the lovingly curated food, she will show you everything from the hip to the historic and all in between. We had so much fun walking the streets and side streets, shops and restaurants, always at a thoughtful pace. Angel can even talk intelligently about great Hong Kong movies — ask her about them! Overall a pleasant delight, a wonderful, educational three hours! Thank you, Angel. You rock.

The Foodtour with Angel was an exceptional experience. On the one hand Angel introduced us to nice local places where you probably won’t go as a tourist. We had Dim Sum, Noodles, Pastries, tea and coffee. The choice was very nice and I recommend to go to the tour with an empty stomach and some appetite. On the other hand Angel as a tour guide is just amazing. An authentic local that shares not only insights about food but also about Hong Kong history, language fun facts and personal stories. I highly recommend this tour and would also do other tours with Angel. Thanks for the experience.

The tour did not include half of the advertised itinerary. It was basically taking you to 2 restaurants and 2 bakeries. The restaurant was tim ho wan, a famous chain located in the basement of IFC. No fruit at the market. This was a scam.
