Amazing introduction to Hong Kong via food and history
This was a fantastic introduction to Hong Kong for a solo traveller and for my first time visiting. Michael was an amazing guide and we tried lots of very tasty local treats. It was the perfect balance between food, history and culture and the perfect way to start my trip. Very highly recommended!

    Not bad
We did both the dark side tour and the intro tour. The guide was friendly but he was a little hard to understand. He provided free maps with a lot of information which was nice. The sights were okay. The dark side tour was too expensive for what it was but overall nothing was bad.

    Very interesting and informative
We walked around Hong Kong center with very energizing and professional guide Michael (he’s an owner of this company btw). Tour was full of interesting historical information which was easily understandable and many facts of current life/food culture as well.

Gritty walking tour of Mong Kok.
It was interesting to see aspects of Hong Kong not mentioned in guide books on this tour of the ‘ Dark Side of Hong Kong ‘ & to see the lives of everyday folk. Friendly tour guide Andy was fun & informative.

    Memorable, Unique Tour
Terry is a phenomenal guide. I did the "Kowloon Free Tour" at the end of 2018 and it was this memorable that I needed to get back to this to write a review! Not only did Terry have a great spirit throughout the journey, but he was efficient and exceptionally informative too. I highly recommend this tour if you're interested in a unique, local experience.

    Great tour, worth your morning
I've been in Hong Kong in Novembre 2019 (only now I remembered to leave a review after watching some old images) and this tour was totally worth the time. You see many things and learn many thing, the guide (which in my case I believe was called Armie Ma) has been super nice with us, sharing information about the culture and lifestyle of the people of Hong Kong, as well as the past and their political situation. I've been in hong kong for just three days and I highly recommend this activity.

    Best tour ever
I did 2 walking tours with these guys: one in Kowloon and one on HK Island. I'm doing free walking tours in every new city that I visit but these were definitely among the best I ever participated in. An important aspect was that the tours did not focus around the important / well-known highlights of the city, but rather about the social issues and life + challenges for ordinary HKers. Poverty / housing issues and freedom issues / relation with mainland China were recurring themes. Both guys were great and enthusiastic story tellers (sometimes from first hand) and I learned a lot frkm them. Again, a very impressive experience for me. I hope everyone is well in these dark times.

    Great Walking Tour with SP
SP was our tour guide for the day - no one else came along so we felt like we got a terrific private tour of Hong Kong side - he was very knowledgeable, friendly and shared many facts about the city as well as his personal experience. Highly recommend to everyone - tourists or locals!

Best tour I ever went on
First we were lucky that we were the only two people who showed - and that the tour did not get cancelled (they will be for a period due til the Coronavirus). Then we were lucky to have Shirley as our guide! She might be young, but she has a really good knowledge about HK, the history, the protest and the way of life and an exellent ability to make her stories come alive and make them relevant for us. Also she answered all my questions readily. It is not your usual highlight tour, even though they were included, but a tour that gave us so much more. I cannot recommend this tour enough!

    An excellent tour.
SP was a considerate , interesting and knowledgeable guide. His introduction explained the political history of the island which gave a better understanding before we visited some of the buildings and then he also drew our attention to their architectural designs. All this was new information to most of us and something we wouldn’t have realised just by walking around by ourselves. We learnt a lot in an enjoyable way.

The experience was magical! Michael is knowledgeable and made the tour unforgettable. He went way above and shared personal family stories and took me to meet one of his 80 yr old friends repairing bird houses. He explained Hong Kong history and encouraged me to think about ways to prevent the economic struggles occurring in HK from happening in my own country. This was not your typical tour!

This was a brilliant walking tour, providing insights into the history of Hong Kong. Issac the guide was knowledgeable and provided great insights into the history of the three key areas: goldfish/pets street; flower market and bird market. As well as providing commentary of housing and the challenges faced by people in Hong Kong on low incomes. It was incredible and I highly recommend it.

Many things could be done better in the tour. The stories, the organization (you are assuming that people come by subway and if they don’t good luck finding exit b3 - a shop or another element would be helpful), a text prior to the trip would be appreciated, staying on time is crucial (2h45 is a different tour altogether), better jokes, better stories. Sorry — this is a harsh review. I’m sure you guys can do better.

Dear 74tomdt, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your review. We recognize that you are from Afghanistan, a nation with its unique wealth disparities, and joined our tour in Hong Kong, possibly seeking a cultural experience distinct from your own. It appears that you were looking for something different from what our tour is designed to offer. Our Dark Side in Hong Kong tour is specifically crafted to shed light on the social inequality within the city, including visits to subdivided units and cage houses. While we understand that Afghanistan has its complex history and specific form of inequality, the comparison with Hong Kong might be challenging given their differences in social and economic contexts. Having said this, this very theme led to our tour being featured by the New York Times in 2017, and we remain committed to offering this unique perspective to those looking to delve deeper than the usual tourist attractions. If you find yourself in Hong Kong again, we invite you to join our Introduction of Hong Kong tour. During this exploration, we'll visit a local Chinese temple, savor some traditional local dishes, and provide a general overview of the city's history and economy. We think you will enjoy that tour better. We hope to see you again on your next visit! Best regards, Michael

Highly recommended - the tour was well paced and varied, split into two halves. Our tour guide was brilliant, knowledge and happy to answer questions. The culmination of the second half really did “blow our minds” as he promised. This interesting couple of hours has left a lasting impression.

Really enjoyed to see the markets and listen to stories to understand what’s going on. The trip was very engaging, our guide did a great job and shared lots of info. It was amazing to hear about the housing market and visit one of the apartments. Really helps to understand HKG much better. Small groups, good pace. Top choice.

Amazing tour! I can recommend this tour enough. So much fascinating information and history. You will definitely discover and see things in Hong Kong that I guarantee no other tour will take you to and that you will unlikely stumbled onto on your own as a tourist. The guide was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
I has a wonderful time!

Informative tour with a focus on what it is like for a normal person on a normal wage living in Hong Kong. Terry is a local and was happy to answer all our questions (even some more direct ones) honestly and without getting offended which is nice.
